  1. Of the dozen or so Celtic fans I know, two are Christian and one of them's a protestant. None of the Rangers supporters I know are religious, to my knowledge. So I think the religious divide is exaggerated. I would say the OF animosity is political and cultural, but also just the result of a bitter footballing rivalry that emerges when two clubs, from the same city, dominate a league. The cultural aspect leads to segregated schooling, to some degree, but is not solely religious as many secular Celtic fans identify with their Irish heritage. Both sides also believe they're victims of discrimination and cheating.
  2. We have played more than 45 minutes of good football this season, but ultimately I think if we play at our best and have a bit of luck we can beat anybody. Ultimately it's eleven men versus eleven men. You have heard of the infinite monkey theorem, aye?
  3. Whoa! Let's get a couple of things straight here. Firstly, I do not 'slag' anybody, that's not how I operate. I merely responded to Faraway's rather rude reply, in which he implied I am an idiot for wanting Kilmarnock to win the tie, which you will find below: Aye, I stand by what I said previously. I think if we play like we did in the first half on Tuesday night, we can beat anybody. We won the tie, didn't we? If we hadn't taken our foot of the peddle, we could have easily won the match comfortably within the 90 minutes. No apology necessary, but please get your facts straight before posting in future. Thanks.
  4. Btw, see the guy who wears the top hat, usually has his face painted and wears a flag like a cap - was he wearing just a t-shirt at the Motherwell game? 😂
  5. After that and last night, I have a feeling it'll be a very boring game. Purely intuition, btw.
  6. And they're supposed to have trouble scoring. Thank heavens we're at home!
  7. The better team will usually win these ties....just as I said. LOL
  8. Wow...this is a mental game now, too. Penalty to Aberdeen!
  9. Ach the better side has turned it around, despite being away from home...
  10. Form is the result of a myriad of factors, for example: injury, illness, team morale, dressing room spats, or simply a run of easier fixtures. A dip in form or a purple patch doesn't prove much, and indeed the game against ourselves could be the beginning of five or ten straight wins for Aberdeen, or several consecutive losses for Kilmarnock. Whilst I do enjoy counting dots, I feel you need a little free education. And really, there's no need to thank me! 🙂
  11. Allow me to introduce you to the concept of a league table, whereby each team is ranked based upon their results this season: Third is a better position than seventh. You will notice that Aberdeen have won 11 games this season, compared to Kilmarnock's 9. Furthermore, Kilmarnock have lost 13 games, whilst Aberdeen have lost just 8 times.
  12. Wow! Pure arrogance: http://www.afc-chat.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=45425&page=3
  13. I had minimal expectations. As I would this year, if we were to draw one of the OF.
  14. It's a day out at the national stadium, and usually attracts many folk who don't usually watch us. If you want the club to grow we need these kinds of matches - ones that create lasting memories. It's also more money for the club. Would you not go to the semi-final, Shull?
  15. We're still in it, we can win it. The build up to the first goal last night was stunning, really excellent. We played some fantastic football. We can beat anybody in Scotland playing at our best. The next round will be tough, and on paper we shouldn't win it, but we've still got a great opportunity of reaching Hampden...and for now I can dream.
  16. Well there were empty seats the last time we played Celtic, so I'd say the South and North stands plus maybe W1 and W2. LOL Thank the Big Man one cannot receive negative rep on here!
  17. A fair comment. I see where you are coming from, but on the other hand as a club should we not be trying to win things? The two major cups are our only real opportunity to win silverware. As others have said, nobody remembers players for finishing 10th in the league after a relegation battle, but a cup winning side will be remembered. I also think last night is how the club attracts new fans and ensures the less committed keep coming back. It was a fantastic experience which I think I will always remember. It's one of those matches that only comes around every five or ten years. I also think last night's result will help the team's morale.
  18. According to Motherwell's own website: 'The South Stand is the largest of the four stands at the ground, with a seated capacity of 4,500. It normally houses the away support, however it is used for home supporters on some occasions.' The upper and lower tiers appear to be roughly the same size, which would suggest the lower tier has a capacity of 2,225. If we had less than 1,000 supporters there, that would suggest it was less than 45% full... I think a lot of people must have sneaked through that fire exit!
  19. Aye, if we play like we did in the first half we will win the game.
