And we will never know because lockdown started way too late to have an effect. Europe was past the point of peak infection at lockdown. And if we had locked down sooner then it would have meant that there would still be a large number of people out there susceptible to infection this winter. Governments around the world panicked when things started kicking off in Italy and then Imperial College predicted that 80% of the U.K. population would get infected and 500,000 would die. We originally locked down solely in an attempt to “flatten the curve” so that the NHS wouldn’t become overwhelmed. We now know that the NHS was never in any danger of becoming overwhelmed by Covid but now, ironically faces becoming overwhelmed with dealing with the backlog to come as a result of lockdown policies.

Then again, you’re the guy who stated that excess deaths in England were 3 times higher than in Scotland when in fact it’s only 15% higher. And the long term issues caused to younger folk will be as a result of the economic damage of lockdown.

All over the place again baz Why just compare them with their neighbours? Why not compare them with a country such as Scotland where the death rate has been higher? And I’ve shared a number of graphs and figures I’m any case which shows that excess mortality in Sweden has been no different to their neighbours. Scotland did worse than virtually all countries and the main reasons for that were throwing sick and elderly people out of hospital and denying people access to the NHS. Jucinda Arden or my cat, it doesn’t really matter. Anyone with half a brain could have forseen what a catastrophe that would turn out.

ONS stats out today. Weekly deaths last week 3% below the average. They’ve been below the average for the last 5 weeks now. The number of deaths last week were 37% lower than in the second week in January this year? Worth noting that 295 Covid deaths reported. Lower than the ludicrous figures being put out by PPE every day (which are under investigation) but still not feasible. Thats 2,582 Covid deaths in the last 5 weeks despite deaths being below the 5 year average. So either, the Covid deaths are being over stated or the number of people dying with non Covid causes is way below the average.

Good to note that you agree that you are contradicting yourself. Your post makes no sense. All the people who were thrown out of hospital should have stayed in hospital. And everyone who need hospital treatment should have received it. The NHS had more than enough capacity. And locking down did nothing to slow the spread. We were already past the peak of infection when lockdown happened. It’s not that difficult. Your “solution” of throwing people out of hospital and denying people access to the health system is both callous and lethal.

I’m not sure that throwing sick and elderly patients out of hospital and into care homes and stopping people from gaining access to health care services was followed in every country worldwide? And of those that did, Scotland certainly “excelled” with one of the worst mortality rates in the world.

And although this will likely be a mild year for flu deaths (as many of the vulnerable population have already been killed by Johnson and Sturgeon’s closure of the NHS), there will still probably be 20k flu deaths - more than there will be of Covid deaths. With the ludicrous decision to shut the air bridge to Spain, we can see the future. If you test more and start testing groups of people you didn’t test before - you will find more cases. That is obvious. The vast majority of these cases are asymptomatic. The virus does not affect them. And in many of these cases, what is getting picked up is remnants of the virus. These people have long since shed it. And these tests are not accurate. They will pick up other coronaviruses. Cases will inevitably rise and Bojo and his gang will rush to lockdown as soon as they can. They won’t want to be seen to dither and delay again. And Nasty Nic, in Scotland won’t want to be beaten. She’ll lockdown first and keep it going 2 weeks longer than England. Fresh hell awaits us this autumn and winter. Life won’t be the same for years to come. It’s been destroyed by the woke virtue signalling social media era.

The average age of death WITH Covid in Scotland is 81 for men and 85 women - above the average age of life expectancy in Scotland. The average number of co morbidities - illnesses so severe that they appear on the death certificate is 2. The most common co morbidity is dementia. Most of these people would have died this year anyway. But their deaths were hastened- not by Covid - but by being thrown out of hospitals and / or denied NHS treatment and / or neglected and / or sedated. We quarantined the young and healthy and failed to protect the vulnerable. But, hey, at least we protected the NHS and @bazil85 got his lockdown holiday on full pay and can virtue signal while others lose their livelihood
