What he did afterwards is totally irrelevant to my response to his post (shown below) where he only mentioned "points tally" and games "to spare".

It's not really difficult to understand. He made specific points, I addressed only those points, so what is your issue with it?

Yeah, as much as I see what you trying to do, I'm with Top Cat here too.

His point is perfectly reasonable and you know very well what he's trying to say you wee trouble-making rascal you.

You've got to remember he's not as far as I am aware a mathematician and isn't presenting a formal proof complete with definitions. He's just making a comparative point that we haven't had this good a season since a time in the very distant past when you were still able to sustain an erection without external aids such as splints, pills and so forth.

He's actually gone beyond the call of duty to convert 2 point games into 3 points in a futile attempt to satisfy your pedantry. If I had known in advance he was going to try, I'd have stopped him from wasting his time.

I'm with him on this. 1981 we're looking at I think (if you include 2 Cup semi finals).

ETA. Blimey. We were still shutting shops at half day on a Wednesday and not allowing anything to open on a Sunday.

Aye and maybe he could pull his socks up properly and make sure he wears fancier boots. If he can do all these things I’d give him a new deal.

Honestly, with the absolute paucity of any genuine mercurial ability in our squad at the moment, how anyone would consider not giving this guy a contract is beyond me. He might not be the finished article but he’s more than good enough for us.

I can only assume Jim has someone better in mind because letting Dylan go looks an odd decision

I know that and so it should.

FFS, why didn't you just say that the first time when Callum raised it and you'd have saved all of us a world of shite?

I need to find a wall to bang my head off. My desk isn't strong enough.

I think there needs to be some kind of balance. The voluntarily bit just isn't working. I read somewhere that last season Rangers gave 0 minutes to U21 Scottish youth graduates (happy for a fact check on that)

I get the European point but it would only impact 2 clubs, the rest that happens anyway (bar this season with the qualification changes) and it will only impact those clubs if they fail to develop youth, that goes hand in hand with the colts failing anyway as to why I would potentially like to see them joint together.

Something needs to change, the status quo isn't working for Scotland as we have seen for over two decades, coincidentally, not long after the 3 foreigner rule went.

No, as Callum has already pointed out, it would affect the squads of clubs like ourselves.

Maybe now all you people who worship him will wake up and smell the coffee. His team selection and tactics are absolutely shocking. Time we had a proper manager. He’s had more money to spend than any manager for a very long time, signed at least 6 strikers and we still don’t have any threat. Not good enough

No threat? What are you talking about?

Only the OF and Hibs have scored substantially more goals than us.

We have scored more goals than Hamilton, Ross County, Dundee Utd, Aberdeen and St Johnstone and we're almost level with the other teams.

FFS, it's becoming standard now regardless of content.

And you are the common factor right at the heart of all of it. Why are you not getting this?

Allow me to give an example here as I have understood this.

You've dismissed @Callum Gilhooley's perfectly legitimate point because in your eyes it's a hypothetical situation. But the entire discussion is about your idea which is also hypothetical. Calum was using a factual line-up to describe the problem as not being just about the likes of Rangers and you used another hypothetical scenario to dismiss that perfectly legitimate argument too. Then when he tweaked his argument to fix it and make it stronger you dismissed that as being an irrelevant change.

Now, I'm the first person to admit I can be a bit of a dick sometimes but if I EVER start behaving like you, I'm going to chuck the forum and get a f**king life.

Would also like to see something similar to the three foreigner rule (but obviously more modernised) returned in Scottish football.

Often this season, Rangers have fielded no under 38 years old Scottish players in their starting 11, it just shouldn't be allowed. For me we should expand on the home grown rule we used to have but for starting 11s at all clubs not just for clubs to stick youngsters unused on benches.

    - 4 players in every SPFL starting 11 must be homegrown (developed at parent club for 3 years before they turned 18 which would make Scotland eligible.)

    - From those players, at least 2 must be under the age of 21 at season start.

I think that balance of 4 players vs 7 others wouldn't have a massive impact on quality and any impact should be temporary as clubs are encouraged to re-focus on youth development. It would also need to have additional safeguards on maximum youth squad sizes, to stop teams like Celtic and Rangers buying up 40+ youth players at each younger age level to safeguard for the rule.

I agree with this in principle but I'm afraid that all you'll achieve there is to push up the price of Scottish players leaving smaller clubs having to rely on younger and younger players and our top clubs will be routinely papped out of Europe in July leaving less money dribbling down to the other clubs. We've tried this sort of thing before.

I'd like to see clubs do this voluntarily but mandating it will not really solve anything.

I like your confidence. I genuinely thought we would lose right up to the ref's final whistle. Some great stops again by the big goalie. COYS.

It's probably based on the fact that we've scored so many late goals that I always expect another one.

I'm also a pretty positive person anyway.

Don't know if it's the formation or the players but that's been our problem all season.

There was no midfield battle to lose tonight. Killie just looked to go long to Lafferty or Burke and feed off that all night. We had tons of possession, most of it passive nonsense in the 1st half but Connolly got us going out wide 2nd half and we suddenly looked dangerous.

They were playing a lot of direct stuff for sure but their midfield had free reign all over the pitch up to 20 yards from our penalty box. They played a very high line and used their wings well. That allowed them to pick up second balls and rebounds and keep the pressure on us. That left them exposed which allowed us to attack them down our wings.

Both teams were fantastic down both wings but that central hole was exposed again tonight. I'm certain Jim knows this and will look to improve there next season.

It was incredible to watch that but our structural play will be giving Jim nightmares right now. My heart has barely slowed.

  10. BTW, at no point did I think we were going to lose that game. Even at 2-0 and 3-2 down.

If we've learned one thing about this squad, it's that they don't f**king give up.

    Ever.

    Against any opposition.

    At any venue.

When that ball from Jay fell to Cammy, I was already cheering before he hit it.

Great to see Quaner get a goal as well.

Dylan was in great form when he came on but I notice he didn't try to take on their defence that much. His balls into the strikers were excellent.

Jay was fantastic again tonight, really getting stuck in. Wiped out Burke who is about 5 times his size.

No idea where Flynn was playing. Central defence?

Another tough night for Daniel but it's one of those positions where you're up against any skilful winger the opposition has and he gave everything despite being a bit exposed by our midfield. Those 2 games will be brilliant experience for him.

If we can sort out that midfield, I think we're going to be very strong next season.

Entertaining game, but by f**k, our defending gave me the fear; i lost count the number of times a killie player got in front of our defenders from crosses.

Oh I find trying to gain the approval of others to be a bit beneath me and a waste of my precious time.

They can think whatever makes their miserable little lives a little better.

I'm an unreconstructed snob that way. :D

No sure if I’m getting whooshed with this one, but I don’t think I’ve ever accused the team of lacking desire this season, especially before a ball is kicked.

I just think that on this occasion human nature will kick in with the feeling that our season is all but over while Killie still have everything to play for. Yes we can still try to finish 7th, but I think that sort of thing is more important to the club than it is to the players. Hopefully I’m wrong and natural competitive desire will trump end of season apathy. Time will tell.

    I told you we'd turn up. :P

We're absolutely more than matching them in desire and effort.

It's not about finishing 7th. Our players are playing for their careers. That will matter more to them than almost anything else, hence the effort levels you are seeing tonight. Players who want to remain in a job simply don't have the luxury of being able to switch off just because a season appears to be for nothing. Guys like Obika, at 30, might not get another gig after this week.

Anyway, this is a good game. Really enjoying it. End to end and no shortage of guts by either side. Lafferty is a diving bastard and put his head against Jake not long after being booked. Needs to be calm his socks.

Managed to miss their goal because I thought it was 7pm. Sigh!

What I do find very strange is that you preach about all subjects on a St Mirren supporters forum yet we all know you don’t even support the club emotionally or financially. Despite your obvious financial success you can’t even contribute to the club to help improve.

    FACT.

Well if you've put the word "fact" after that paragraph it MUST be true.

You even put it in capital letters for that extra authenticity. Surprised you didn't use bold, italic and underline while you were at it. :D

Given that you've spent a couple of pages telling us all how you have the answers to poverty and that people just need a kick up the arse to succeed, I don't think I'll be taking lessons from you on how to view people struggling at the bottom of society. Thanks for the thought though.

Did you need to quote the snivelling clown?

    Jeezo.

And there's the other numpty with a chip on his shoulder about my qualifications.

At least Slash has the courage to come to me directly about it.

    Get a life FFS.

Personally I couldn’t care less about what qualifications you may or not have.

That would be more believable if you didn't keep bringing it up.

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder for some reason. Get over it and grow the hell up FFS.

I think we will lose to Killie and beat Utd. Where that leaves us in the league remains to be seen.

Just doubt we’ll be able to match Killie’s desire on Wednesday given what both teams have at stake (or haven’t really in our case).

How many times this season are you going to accuse our team of lacking in desire before a ball is even kicked?

Killie won't have played for 10 days and might be rusty. We might be a bit leggy after Sunday. Make no mistake though. We'll turn up hungry to win that game.
