I booked yesterday for Lanzarote in November.
everything as normal, it appears... though I’m sure there will be changes to buffet dining and (hopefully) on the flights...
Reading local Lanzarote news, it appears that the “good intentions” of the Canaries to ensure only cv-free people are allowed onto planes, is trumped by EU rules.
also... the islands economies are so dependent on tourism and there is a clamour for opening up.
(About a month ago, the Subaqua Underwater “Museum”, off the coast of Playa Blanca Went bust.
https://underwatermuseumlanzarote.com/en/
It had only had an average of 20+ punters a day, so unsurprising. I never got round to doing that.... )
So sad to hear about a business going under. I will get my coat

Was it not Stewart's Bar?
No Linwood, HSS recalled it as The clubhouse.

Hamishes Hoose was called the Handy Bar around 40 years ago.
Tudor used to close at 10 on a Mon dart night so we then used to go to the Handy for the last hr.
Old woman who run it was always complaining about us only going to her pub since it was open later than others in the area
I know all these pubs because I used to sell the evening times in them when I was a boy. The Elbow room and ring of bells were good business 👍🏻

The clubhouse was by far the most chilled place at the time. There was also a nightclub/bar next to Halfords ? Think it’s a nursery now.

Watched the Scotland 1978 World Cup programme on BBC Scotland channel again tonight, still brings a tear to my eye.

Yes Watson’s was across from the stmirren shop on the corner. It had two levels. Bar down stairs and small lounge upstairs.
The Scotia hotel is opposite the prolife, it had a small bar back in the mid- 90s , I went in a couple of times before games when we played at love street.

Why do they feel it needs protection? Is this a copycat thing from the Millwall fans that went to the Churchill statue?
The cenotaph is a memorial to the dead of two world wars. Bullets and bombs don’t care what colour of skin you are. -
Thanks I can sleep the night now. The clubhouse played decent music. I used to frequent Mr Boston’s in shuttle street and Watson’s in Forbes place. God I can’t wait until the pubs open again.

Good memories reading through this.
I remember a bar in Forbes place, I believe it was called Canne, first bar as I remember to serve a pint in the vase style glass.
Another from the 80’s was under the bridge at Gilmore street station, I can picture it but can’t recall the name.
Paisley Park (think it was called the Turf before and after Paisley Park) was another mid 80’s venue. This is really annoying me!! I have been in this place several times and can’t remember it’s name. It was just two doors down from the Argyle bar heading to the station, I think it’s a restaurant now. At the time it was where the Goths went as the music wasn’t the usual mainstream pish. It had two levels and was mostly painted black. I hope someone remembers it. The cathouse keeps coming to mind but note sure

The picture above of Talk of the town reminded me of a similar style mansion which was at the end of Murray street (50 yards from the stadium) which was used as a nightclub back in the 80s , can’t remember its name? Think it also burned down, poor fire retardant material back then 😙

Some Forumsters loving the ending of free speech.
One even wanting jail sentences for those wishing to speak freely.
Just because some have different opinions.
Your at risk of defending the undefendable
The UN intervened after a column in The Sun in which Ms Hopkins described migrants as “cockroaches” and “feral humans”, while in 2017 she left a job at radio station LBC after posting a tweet calling for a “final solution” shortly after the Manchester Arena bombing. -

Played darts, well, threw darts in the general direction of the board.
That's where I met @North Sea Saint, which cost me a fortune.
That’s the one, cheers 👍🏻

Remind you of your youth ?You forget how popular Paisley Nightlife was in the 70s and 80s. Can anyone remember the name of the bar/nightclub in the hotel opposite Reid Kerr college, I can’t even remember the hotel name? It’s flats now.

Any chance you could relate some stories from back in the day. You must have some crackers.
You could start a thread, before someone else does 😙

Just watched the first episode of After Life.
Ricky Gervais at his best, brutally honest and funny,
2nd series is also very good. I have started watching Community on Netflix, not bad, Chevy Chase holds it together

Can’t see it catching on down the racecourse, too much dog shit.

They do know Paisley has no connection to Ian Paisley 😂

I was amazed last night that no one highlighted the irony of the LDL guarding a statue of Robert Peel while simultaneously fighting with the Police 😂

Loved the day when Panda brought out a holdall onto the pitch and out pops baby panda!
How times have changed! There would be all sorts of child protection issues if he did that now. Shortly afterwards he introduced Mrs P also. Also remember him racing the Pars mascot at love street for some reason?
