The guy is simply not a tester and to win a grand tour you need to get good at that discipline . . Was thinking on this yesterday at work (while the bread burned) and did a bit of checking - before he crashed out of the 2014 Vuelta on the ITT he was considered to be pretty good at this discipline his 2014 Giro win was based on winning the two ITT's. Reckon that crash has affected his confidence and until he gets it back he's going to need an error from Froome/Sky to win one of the big tours unless & until Froome's legs go.
