I’ve always wondered why people say black and white?
Why is it never white and black?
Do you down to Greenhill Road or up to Greenhill Road?
Do you go up the town or down the town?
Or up to Glasgow or down to Glasgow?

I’ve been watching St. Mirren since 1976 and the club colours have ALWAYS been Black, White and Red.
http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/St_Mirren/St_Mirren.htm
Other than the red socks in 64/65, until relatively recently, red was really only the colour of the number on the back and change colours.
Even then, it’s really just bit of trim on the strip occasionally that is red
I’d prefer if we just stuck to black and white and I’d prefer it if the supporters did as well 😜

The great thing about the season ticket thread is that there’s no need for @faraway saintto post in it!😘

The most depressing aspect as far as I'm concerned is that there appears to be precious little exciting young talent bursting through from our Youth Academy.
If Offord and Jamieson are our best prospects coming through from the Academy to the First Team Squad then it's no wonder our scouts are off trawling through various diddy leagues around the world. I'd love these two youngsters to prove me wrong but, from what they've shown when given their (admittedly few) opportunities so far, there's a helluva lot of improvement required before we're going to see a positive end result.
Happy to be proved wrong though.
True but it doesn’t help that when you do find a genuine prospect, like Dylan Reid, he’s away before he’s hardly played a game
Looks like the young defender Campbell is another who’ll be away before he’s even made the first team

Griffiths was very much dismissed on here quite a few years ago, long before he reached the current ripe old age of 32.
It seems that's past your best if you're a football player.
Depends if you keep yourself in shape
George Best was finished as a top flight player by the age of 28, indeed his final 2 seasons at Old Trafford were dismal so you could say he was finished by 26
Derek Riordan was effectively finished by 28 as well
Griffiths is finished too, just like you 😜

The thing is, when Gilmour and co took over, they had at least 2 rights share issues where they encouraged the fans to buy the shares instead of them.
The fans largely ignored it and hence Gilmour and co were landed with majority ownership

Oh I knew the difference. You were the one that didn’t seem to understand & what’s actually being talked about, when we say, we are now ‘fan owned’
Seems you’ve educated yourself on what’s ‘different now’ 👍
We’ve always been fan owned since we were incorporated, as I said in my first post.
Glad to see you agree despite the mainly irrelevant and contradictory reply 😆

If anyone doesn’t understand the difference between the fan ownership model we achieved & previous ownership models, fine.
The model is and always been a private limited company owned by shareholders
Previously those shares were directly owned by fans of the club. What is different now is that a huge chunk of the shareholders are an unconnected third party organisation while the majority is owned by a private supporters organisation of which you need to be a member.
Here to help 👍

Said this elsewhere, but Erhahon leaving diminished what Baccus offered to the team
Sent from my 2107113SG using Tapatalk
Great point.
Erhahon tended to be a holding midfielder that allowed Baccus more freedom. Gogic tends to be more active and Baccus needs to cover him
I’ve liked Baccus himself playing the holding role with Kiltie alongside him

One match (dead rubber), for most of them.
And they were all dead rubber other than Taylor. Do you disagree?

Hes an absolute bomb scare, cannot believe we gave him any kind of deal.
He was the best defender on the pitch today by a country mile
I’d rather have Taylor than Souttar

Tanser the worst player I have ever seen.
He’s not the greatest but I can only think you’re young! 😂
I’ve seen many roasters over the years, in lower divisions as well, and Tanser doesn’t come close to being as bad
Jim Gardner FFS and many more in between!
-
Urminsky, Boyd Munce, Jamieson and Offord are not good enough
Richard Taylor is class
With Curtis Main staying, we could have a top season next season, particularly if we could find a striker to partner him, plus a new left wing back, Tanser is power puff

Not wishing to nit pick @Callum Gilhooley but his chosen first name is Ian rather than Iain just in case you are searching google for your spelling.
I’m sure Ian Scanlon’s “disappearance” has been discussed before on here but there were rumours he had come into some money via a girlfriend who dumped him.
“In 1977, after being dropped for a game against Carlisle United, Scanlon walked out on Notts County. After openly considering retirement from football, and making false claims to have inherited money, he joined Aberdeen.”

There’s an interesting snippet on his Wikipedia page:
”In 1977, after being dropped for a game against Carlisle United, Scanlon walked out on Notts County. After openly considering retirement from football, and making false claims to have inherited money, he joined Aberdeen.”
I don’t remember him creating any issues after he joined us.
Sad to hear this, hope he’s okay. He’s up there in my top 5 favourite Saints players and I’m pretty sure that Mo Salah modelled both his playing style and his look on Scanlon. The guy was a genius.

Small & Watt
Jury is still out on Taylor
Not sure I’d agree with Watt. He’s obviously a half decent player and he was lacking a bit in fitness. He did a job. Our hand was forced with the Ayunga injury and Brophy loan.
Olusanya is obviously hopeless though, he really was a bad gamble.
Small, I think there is a player there. His 2 sending offs were obviously reckless though. Again, our hand was forced with the Tait injury. Personally I’d have used Flynn on the left when Tanser wasn’t available
Yes, jury still out on Taylor. At the very least I reckon he’ll be a decent squad player.
Carson, Strain, Gallagher, Baccus, O’Hara, Gogic and Ayunga have all proved to be decent IMO.
I think that’s a good success rate, not every singing is going to be a complete success, you just need to hope you get most right.
