  1. It's back and it's still driving me nuts
  2. Driving me crazy seeing Turdhole McLeod's grinning face in the green banner above and beside the posts everytime a new window opens. Get it stopped now - we'll have a whip round to make up for the revenue loss!!
  3. Long time since I was on here but: Sparks - Propaganda Edwyn Collins - Home Again Eels - Useless Trinkets Lloyd Cole & The Commotions - Rattlesnakes Prefab Sprout - Swoon I know - I am an old twat but there you go.............
  4. Nothing would make be happier but if it is all the same to you SFS I'll keep my fiver in my pocket... I so want Dargo to get that debut goal as well
  5. Where did you dig that one out from? Named after the Gladys Knight song, the bass player in this Paul Quinn led group was Paisley boy Keith Band. Keith was the wee brother of David Band who did some sleeve art for Aztec Camera under the name The Cloth - some artists collective, I think. David emigrated to Australia and last I heard in 1987 was that he did the cover art for the book Spycatcher, the "controversial" biog of Peter Wright a fomer MI5 bloke. Keith had played in the even more obscure Jazzateers with Ian Burgoyne (also in Bourgie Bourgie) - I think they signed for Alan Horne's iconic Postcard label but didn't release their LP on that imprint due it all going pear-shaped. Their eponymous debut (and only) LP appeared on Rough Trade (Rough 46) in 1983 and featured what I am sure they thought was a clever pastiche of the Velvet Underground's eponymous debut LP. OK OK I'm getting my anorak and I'm leaving................................
  6. Er...... 1. Rilo Kiley - Under The Blacklight 2. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky 3. The Decemberists - Crane Wife 4. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible 5. Cherry Ghost - Thirst For Romance But off now to search for my old 7" vinyl copy of Ally's Army
  7. Right now in the car is: Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Ian Hunter - All American Alien Boy (30th Anniverary Edition) - as per avatar Sparks - Hello Young Lovers Warren Zevon - Genius Lucinda Williams - Essence All a bit American at the moment and, somewhat oddly, first two are linked through erstwhile Amerciana nutjob Jeff Tweedy co-writing and singing a track on 67(!) year old Ian Hunter's new album. Sometimes I scare myself...... Re last post, somewhere in a large pile of 12" singles on my shelf is both a Strawberry Switchblade single and, would you believe, one by Set The Tone too. No memory what either of them were called and I suspect I got the latter out a bargain bin on the basis they were from Glasgow and expected by someone, somewhere to be the next big thing! Shallow? Me?
  8. Just caught up with this - amazing. Is the tribute CD out already? Somewhere amongst many, many 7" singles on the shelf behind me is a copy of "Prospect Street" - must dig it out....

    Top Five Gigs

Just seen this after the post above. I was at the Bungalow that night - incredible gig - packed out. Had the Skids not just played on the roof of HMV in Glasgow to mark its opening? Recently saw Richard Jobson standing on the platform in Inverkeithing station but didn't have the brassneck to go up and ask him if he remembered that gig! I also recall seeing the "Dead Pop Stars" era Altered Images and, I think, Josef K at the Bungalow. Rock'n'roll - phew!

    Top Five Gigs

My 1970s selection for old gits everywhere: The Who - Parkhead, Summer 1974 Highlight: Keith Moon's drumming - just awesome, Townsend's white jump suit and SAHB support set. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Glasgow Apollo, Christmas 1975 Highlight: One of the seven(!) sold out nights and Cheek to Cheek with polystyrene snow falling from above the stage - heaven, I'm in heaven etc etc The Clash - Glasgow Apollo, December 1977 Highlight: Some of the band (Jones/Simonon?) arrested outside in side alley, trying to break up a fight - supposed to have led to the B-side "Jail Guitar Doors" being written? Or was it "The Prisoner"? The Ramones - Glasgow QMU, 1978 Highlight: Talking to Dee Dee (kinda) - Hey Dee Dee! - Yeah? - You awright? - Yeah! The Jam - Strathclyde Union, Autumn 1978 Highlight: The "Apocalypse Tour" with Paul Weller adolescent jump kicks and ferocious guitar playing
  11. Aye that and go easy on the Gary Numan records, eh?
  12. Hate to be picky, Yflab but was it not Miss McIntyre that was Minmac? Old Enid had a 60 a day habit and a liking for the gin. Certainly allowed her to cultivate a rasping French accent that went with her strawberry blonde rinse. Scary!!

    Deleting File

Jeezuz - runs the website and sorts IT problems for the members - some man that Div bloke!
  14. Ah now, I think Dunn may still have been there for one year - kind of old gay thespian type with swept back hair, a bit like that bloke Brian Sewell? The two guys I recall were a Mr Robertson (young with 70s facial hair) and a wee baldy old guy with a high pitched nasal voice called Mr Robb who tried to teach Ancient Greek rather than that other really handy language, Latin.
  15. Jeesus! Came onto the forum to post my thoughts on today's game and spotted this thread going on down the page. Hadn't seen it before. Seems to be a number of OGs in the house. I was at the PGS from 71-77 and the posts unlocked a whole series of memories: Titsy and chalk marks Fanny Calvert - in her 90s apparently and still stoatin' about - I remember if you went to the first aid room with a head-ache she always wanted you to loosen your trouers RYC - that photo was just too scary - belted me himself Selling the school - that was a guy called Brian Horsburgh and one of his mates whose name escapes me - Brian's twin brothers were in my year Jimmy Dunbar - rogue with infeasibly hairy Kirk Douglas style hole in his chin Roddy Gardener - haven't given him a moments thought for over thirty years! Arrogant wee twat who taught Chemistry, I now recall Joe Gilroy - another arrogant wee twat - did he not used to play/coach the soapdodgers? Whoever it was that posted that he had pissed him off by nutmegging him - well done! M Haggerty - just arrived as I was leaving and has just retired - very scary man - he used to be referred to as Merve the Perve. Just as well they didn't have "disclosure" checks in those days The name I didn't see on the other posts was Spaz Campbell. He was a fearsome teuchter English Teacher who didn't suffer fools (ie me) gladly but was probably the smartest teacher I ever knew. Wonder what happened to him?? I could go on but I am already way too close to turning this into some kinda Friends Reunited crap.
