  1. Would it not be a good idea for one of these corporate members to come out in public talking about why it is so good and why others should sign up? I only had a quick glance at the document last night but I don't recall any testimonies from a corporate member - unless div has invested £10k
  2. Glad to hear it. Have a green dot - can't believe folk were giving red ones out for this post.
  3. Indeed, they did both play there - although Carey did not do well at leftback and even Gus admitted he wasn't a defender. However, Carey was a winger and Barron was a centre-half who was moved to rightback then leftback when we had no one else. They were certainly not leftbacks he signed. I'll give you Harte though, he did far more for us than that bombscare Camara.
  4. Yet our previous manager was unable to sign any of them.
  5. The Palace manager the other week said there was a future for Dorman at the club but at the moment he needed battlers to get them out of relegation trouble. Dorman's most prolific times in the last few years were towards the end of the season so it's a bit of an odd stance.
  6. http://www.blackandwhitearmy.com/forums/index.php/topic/31099-paul-burns/ The guy that posted on Twitter sits next to me at work.
  7. Despite what he said in the papers last week, I have been told he is not even a football fan. Had a look at the website of the organisation we've apparently applied to for cash. The maximum repayment period is 10 years, meaning we'd need to repay back £800,000 inside a decade (if the Mail story is accurate). There is also the potential of interest at 8 per cent, although this can be written off if they feel we've met certain aims. Also noticed one of the case studies was our old pals Spartans and their youth academy
  8. We've managed to upset the Daily Heil http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1374669/Public-cash-sought-buy-St-Mirren.html
  9. Richard Atkinson talked last week that a church was interested in using the ground as part of the CIC proposals. Guess this must be the one!
  10. One of the main questions a lot of folk seem to have is "What do businesses get for their £10k?" or words to that effect. There is an indication that some businesses have been signed up. It would therefore be a good PR move if the 10,000 Hours people got one of these businessmen to come out saying why he signed up and encourage others to do likewise. Same goes for the community groups.
  11. One looks like it's a group called cgc Paisley. Another might be Pace Drama Group?
  12. Yeah I did wonder about that. Apparently it needs 300 folk paying a tenner a month and 12 businesses paying 10k a year. What happens if we manage to get double that? In the link Drew posted Richard Atkinson said it would be up to the folk in the CIC to decide how it would be funded and one day it could be 3,000 folk paying a quid, so I suppose that means there's no limit. The church idea was a bit of a surprise and it'll be interesting to see how that pans out. However, he'd talked earlier in the interview about organisations coming on board and gaining access to the facilities, which suggested to me it would be free access. Then he mentioned the churches would be renting the facilities. Of course, I suppose it's extremely unlikely that churches will be stumping up £10k a year to join up - I can't see that going down well with some churchy folk EDIT: Forgot to add, he talks about the "equivalent" of £10,000. Does that mean he'll take Euros, or a company can come on board if it offers the equivalent of £10,000 of services to the club?
  13. Seems there is a bit on Sportsound about it tonight, although we'll probably have to wait until after the latest pish about Swiss Toni's attempts to buy r*ngers to hear it.
  14. Plenty of other people have posted questions on here about the move that have been answered. My initial question last night - is there a tax benefit for a company giving cash to a CIC - was a general one for all CICs and companies, rather than this particular one, so someone could have had the answer. I have an open mind on it, I will register my interest and if everything seems to add up I'll probably contribute my cash. However, I don't see the harm in asking questions and raising points for discussion. Agree with that, particularly the final paragraph. Don't see a problem with being sceptical and concerned. Cool. Will there be a similar (probably longer) thing on Sportsound tonight? The fact the r*ngers takeover won't be happening today should get us a bit more coverage.
  15. I love the fact that for daring to question the potential pitfalls of a system that has never been tried before I'm being accused of being hysterical and negative. Brilliant
  16. Plenty of other people on here seem to have known about things, such as fans paying a monthly fee, before they were made public that I thought one of them know. Failing that I was waiting on Sid making somethng up as usual
  17. Of course I don't want things to fail! You can say I'm being negative, I'm merely asking what I feel are valid questions. The business case with the CIC apparently requires numerous businesses to come on board and, I assume, offer cash as well as services. What's in it for them? You have mentioned networking earlier, which is fair enough - I seem to remember there was some business club Saints ran in the early 2000s in an attempt to do likewise - but will that be enough to tempt businesses on board? I really, really would love this whole thing to work out, not just because seems it's the only way forward and it will happen. It's a new, different way of running things and if it works others will follow suit - and we'll reap the benefits of being the first to do it and taking the gamble. However, until I hear exactly how it works, exactly how businesses are going to be tempted to part with their cash to get on board and exactly why fans who already put hundreds of pounds into the club every year should put in even more just so they can have their say on a few issues, I'll remain sceptical. We are in a great position as a club, especially compared to other sides (some of whom I'd thought were fairly well run until recently), I just hope we don't f**k it up.
  18. So sorry for not accepting that everything is going to be rosy and wonderful when the new mob do take over like you seem to have done I think it's a fair question. What benefit is there for any company that stumps up cash? What do they get out of it? They aren't just going to give us a big wad of money if there's nothing in it for them.
  19. Does anyone know if there is any tax benefit for a company that gives money to/buys shares in a CIC? Otherwise I can't see that happening on any grand scale, especially in these economic times.
  20. A shocking accusation considering who the poster was. Must admit I'm surprised why a self-proclaimed non-Saints fan has taken the trouble to come onto a Saints site to take great interest in a takeover.
  21. I hope they won't be allowed a say in who writes for the website
  22. Obviously uses the same PR guy as Danny Lennon.
  23. Chick Young effectively guaranteed there would be more news on Sportsound on Thursday night. This is all very well, but did Eoin Jess ever sign for r*ngers
