  1. Have you tried the Virginmedia help section: Troubleshooting guide :link Setting up wireless guides : link Push N Connect guide : link and link although it does give a warning that all of your devices must support this. The second link states that if you hold the button on the router for too long it disables the wireless altogether. Super HUb articles : link ets: Have you tried manually inputting the SSID on your devices?
  2. One of the problems i've had with a Netgear router (WGT624) was the Android phone kept causing the router's wireless connection to fail for all devices. Everytime the phone was moved out of range while connected, the wireless would fall over. Had to reboot router. Other problems i've had : Neighbour with new router caused interference with mine no matter how close i was to the router. Changed the Channel to fix it. WiFi Analyzer as mentioned by bud77 should help you out. Ipod dock with wireless speakers completely destroyed wifi reception. When i moved home i revised my setup to look neater by sitting the cable modem on top of the router. Caused major interference and drastically reduced my connection speed. Moved them to sit side by side and regained full connection speed. Just mentioning these incase you've added/changed something and forgotten about it.

Just remembered, i hadn't come back to this. If your problem is that you're trying to copy commercial videos, then it will be the Macrovision that's stopping it. You can buy equipment to remove the Macrovision. Search google for Macrovision remover. Copying copyrighted material is illegal so the equipment tends to be marketed with disclaimers about copying copyrighted material. Not sure if a video capture card for a computer might help. It's something i've never tried to do. If it's your own recorded videos, then i'm not sure why the vhs/dvd recorder combi unit won't do it. The link provided in a previous post is a VHS/DVD Player only by the looks of it. Something like this might do. OR buy a cheap dvd recorder and hook up your vhs player to it.

With hindsight they may have said it was closed because it should have been closed due to the time. I may have lost track of time. Was the Kelburn Tavern.

Not always. Had to leave pub because the Police closed it. Some idiots had a heated exchange outside, police were driving past at the time. They walked into pub said "You're closed." Cue swift emptying of pint and short walk home. Only reason i was in was because i needed the toilet, seems rude to use the facilities and not buy a drink (or 3). Met a Saints fan though.........

stripey, I'd say whosyirdaddy is correct in the needing to boot it up with the recovery cd. It depends on what's happened. Did you install/uninstall anything prior to it failing? Whether you have backups. Answers based on Windows XP, some of it may work for Vista - not too sure. If nothing has been changed it could just be a fault with the file system and just needs a "scan disk" run (Seen this 3 times in the last couple of months). Has Recovery Console been setup to run from the Boot menu (the menu that has the Last known good configuration), this is normally not set up by default and would have to have been set up by yourself. If it is, then you can run scan disk from there. If you've got a windows installation disk you can use that to enter recovery console and run scan disk. In cases where i've not had the Recovery CD, and recovery console is not set up, i've had limited success with removing the disk and attaching it to another system as a secondary drive and running scan disk from there. You can back up your files as well.. A bit tricky on a laptop though unless you have the appropriate adapter. You could use a boot disk from another operating system like Linux. This will at least get you to your files and let you back them up. (I did this a couple of weeks ago using ubuntu and backing everything up to an external usb drive. Ubuntu boots as a LiveCD (it doesn't touch your hard disk unless you want it to!)) You may even find that if you use Ubuntu that the act of accessing and reading files on your disk sorts the problem, although i wouldn't claim that this would happen. I'd try the ubuntu route first to make sure you have a backup. It depends on what resources you have available. If you have another computer or someone who can download ubuntu for you and burn the iso file properly then give it a try. If you have more information: model of laptop, which version of windows, what file the blue screen mentions, then there might be another solution. Long winded i know.... The thing to remember is that you should be able to get to your files and back them up in some way. Hope this helps.
  10. You should just be able to drag and drop in iTunes. Although it may not let you do it if auto sync or Autofill is set up. The step by step guides to sorting it are below. info on Autofill and manually syncing to iPod shuffle clicky info on changing iPod Autosync settings clicky So basically. Open iTunes Plug in iPod Click on the iPod under "Devices" Check "Manually manage music" in "Summary" tab You might also have to uncheck "Sync music" in "Music" tab - (although this might stop the songs getting on to the iPod. Put it back if it does stop it) Go back to Library and drag the tunes you want onto the iPod Hope this helps. I normally just set up a playlist and Sync that.
