south_seas_saint got a reaction from W6Saint in Renfrewshire Derbies On Youtube
So glad you had the vid of the 3-2 victory at Love St on the 18th Sept 99.
That was my first trip back to Scotland since my family emigrated to NZ in 69 yep 30yrs since I saw the buds live, what made it even more special was that my son who was born in NZ was at his first ever Buddies game and against Morton
Also it was at the time where if we won the title (And I understand we were favoured to be relegated that year)we would have to go all seater stadium for premier aspiration.
I had been gifted tickets to sit in the stands with my son but by then I had reconnected with my old mates Jake, Ally, and Col so we gladly walked into the park with them at the love st end and stood on the embankment to soak up the patter and the banter, A day I will cherish, my Son loved the atmosphere and the game was a cracker.
And we ended the campaign as Championnesss ....oh great memories
Thanks AT

It's funny living way down here in NZ and seeing familiar Saints names appearing on team sheets for teams in the Hyundai A League...Such as
Steven McGarry who now plays for Perth Glory and used to play along side ex fellow Saint
Billy Mehmet who has now moved onto an indain club called Dempo and they were both managed by 87 Cup Legend goal scorer
Ian Ferguson who left after a poor showing in Feb this year. I heard he moved back to UK ?
and Finally
Aaron Mooy an ex Aussie Saint who is now back in the land down under with Western Sydney Wanderers.
On a side note to be honest it's a little hard to see some of the attendances we get at the new St Mirren Park when the teams down here get great support anywhere from 10 to 18 thousand each week.... maybe it's because it's all a little new down here good quality fitba but I would love to see our wee ground a little fuller.
And hey it's not a bad place to scout out some new potential Saints....
......Maybe an off season trip for the Darlin Buds down here would be a good thing.....It would be for me anyway I'd get my whole extended family there so thats a guaranteed crowd of around 32 as long as it was played in New Zealand lol
