Ball Boy

Ball Boy (2/14)

  1. The Queen visited the village in the 70s. John Byrne`s Slab Boys play was set in the Carpetfield (Stoddards). U.S. Governor George Wallace visited the monument in the 70s. The late Margo McDonald spoke at one of the Wallace Days. Jim Leighton grew up in Elderslie (via Kilbarchan). The place is full of history!
  2. Think your brain has gone with age - pretty sure it was The Challenge before The Haven!
  3. I support the Dragons when they play Glasgow , does that make me a traitor? However if the County were playing the Buddies there is no doubting where my loyalties would lie.
  4. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jimwaterson/7-fascinating-insights-into-why-scotland-voted-against-indep#2vhyx1m
  5. Is the Gospel Hall still there , across the road from the Primary and plenty of room? Glad to see there are so many Buddies from the Village now , when I grew up in it was about 3 or 4 of us on a good day that went to the games , the rest went to the Dark Sides.
  6. Stuart , even Welsh friends I have commented today on how bias the BBC have been , in particular how Nicholas Witchell gave a twisted view on how the Queen felt on this issue, even though Buckingham Palace had issued a statement, part of which states : "The sovereign's constitutional impartiality is an established principle of our democracy and one which the Queen has demonstrated throughout her reign. "As such the monarch is above politics and those in political office have a duty to ensure that this remains the case. "Any suggestion that the Queen would wish to influence the outcome of the current referendum campaign is categorically wrong. "Her Majesty is firmly of the view that this is a matter for the people of Scotland." The BBC should report facts not conjecture.
  7. Agree with you , it`s also opened my eyes to how biased the BBC has been during this campaign. Used to be very proud of the BBC , not now!
  8. He has done that to scare you into voting no , he is a politician after all.
  9. Yes I live in Wales and been to NI but never heard of their Kingdoms , Wales is a Principality and NI is a Provence!
  10. In that case Scotland can still use GBP , the Great British Pound then?
  11. The United Kingdom of England and .........................................England?
  12. Think you have answered the original question about what will happen with the currency. Do you think the UK Govt is so stupid that it has not got plans and contingencies in place?
  13. Sorry Great Britain does not = England , Wales and NI. Great Britain also known as Britain is an island in the North Atlantic off the north-west coast of continental Europe. The island has an area of 229,848 km2 (88,745 sq mi), and is the largest island of the British Isles, the largest island in Europe and theninth-largest in the world.[5][6] With a population of about 61 million people in 2011, it is the third-most populous island in the world, afterJava (Indonesia) and Honshū (Japan).[7][8] It is surrounded by over 1,000 smaller islands.[9] The island of Ireland lies to its west. The island is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, constituting most of its territory: most of England,Scotland and Wales are on the island, with their respective capital cities, London, Edinburgh and Cardiff. Politically, Great Britaincommonly refers to the island together with a number of surrounding islands, which constitute the territory of England, Scotland and Wales.[12] The Kingdom of Great Britain resulted from the union of the kingdoms of England (comprising modern-day England and Wales) andScotland in 1707. Subsequently, in 1801, the Kingdom of Great Britain united with the neighbouring Kingdom of Ireland forming theUnited Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. When five-sixths of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom in 1922, the state was renamed the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
