  1. You mean apart from the proof I shared with you? You can be as pedantic as you want, it doesn't change facts. A club being in the Championship for an extra season is worth more than them getting relegated and being in League 1. Or perhaps you genuinely disagree? That would be very worrying...
  2. We need new players. Not guys who weren’t good enough in the Championship. Kinda sounds a bit like you're saying they're poor, if you don't think they're even Championship level... He signed both before it was clear we were getting promoted. It was becoming very likely when Hippolyte signed that we wouldn't be a championship club for long. It makes perfect sense, there was always the risk that Reilly wouldn't be here after scoring 20 goals in a few months. Brought in Mullan, give him more game time to see how he was and get him sharp for this season (hasn't seemed to work) Flynn started to play more and the re-shuffle in midfield meant McShane played less. Not sure what you're not getting about that. I never once said 'he 100% should be playing LW and that's his best position' Not sure if it's escaped your notice but we have drawn with two amateur/ PT teams in the last two competitive games. You said Eck isn't good enough for the Championship, I'm saying he's a quality LB and could make an impact potentially with Coulson playing further forward (as he has done for his parent clubs youth teams)
  3. Is giving a fundemental reasons why Shanks won't be coming to St Mirren relevant to who we should be going for? I know we can't get Ronaldo either, does that mean I should be able to list our next five signings?
  4. What on Earth are you talking about?
  5. If they don’t have to pay all their wages... shanks will be seen as a key player in their survival next season. Survival is worth more than £50k/ £100k certain people might deny it or be pedantic in their response. That doesn’t change facts dont need to believe me, the deal just won’t happen.
  6. Prize money for places. Between 10th and 8th. Season ticket numbers for Ayr, more this season than last. Away crowds in Championship are considerably higher than L1. All in all, easily more than £100k. Not to mention Tv money in championship is higher. You’re welcome.
  7. Do you actually know what went on with Morgan? You realise that wasn’t an option right given his contract was up? If you’re going to debate, know what you’re talking about first eh?
  8. Have I got anything to back up that Ayr will be more than £100k better off if they stay in the championship over getting relegated? Amazingly I do... plus you know common sense
  9. No, there’s a mean amount for all players. Shanklands isn’t £50k and a off form player ffs. Ayr would make that if he gets them further up the league than last time they were here.
  10. That’s not what I said. You said he was a poor player did you not? Not fair to say someone’s poor because of an injury. He showed last season he is not. Why offer him a longer term deal? Makes no sense. Get another bench warmer in that will sign for six months. To try out Mullan and they brought in Flynn who was keeping him out the team. Both been poor so far all speculation, not seen anyone say he must be player as LB.
  11. See my previous point in Ayr staying in the championship being worth much more than £50£100k
  12. Again, I don’t think that’s what they’ll get. As an ayr fan I wouldn’t be wanting my club entertaining any bid. If a club came in I’d be saying up about there is where you’d have to pay. (Which no one should)
  13. No i didn’t. Stop making things up. I said I wouldn’t want my club considering a penny less if I was an Ayr fan. I’d rather have him for the season than take £50/£100k he’d likely be worth more to them
  14. Ayr revenue will be more than £100k if they don’t get relegated from the championship next season, yes or no? Ayr management and fans will see Shankland as a key player for them next season to keep them in the league, yes or no? Letting your prized asset go for such a small amount would not be welcomed by the fans that buy tickets and merchandise, yes or no?
  15. Try saying that to an Ayr fan, absolute nonsense. For the record, no I don't think he'd be worth the same as those three. Do I think he'd be worth a tiny fraction of Stevie Mallan with one year? Of course he wouldn't Last summer do you genuinely think we were in a much bigger position on Mallan was miles more important to us than Shanks is to them? If he keep them up, is that worth more than £50k? ffs
  16. What would the fans reaction of been last summer if we let Stevie Mallan go for £50k because he only had a year left to run?
  17. Repeat after me 'Shankland will add value to Ayr United next season by playing' You telling Hibs to accept £50k for McGinn Do you think if Shankland fires in 20-30 goals and Ayr finish 6th and not 10th for example... Worth more or less than £100k to them
  18. Okay so last summer, when St Mirren and Ayr had only been seperated by a couple points. if someone came in with a bid of £50k for Morgan you'd of accepted it? Shankland may of been league one last season but he's now a Championship player and is showing he's on the form of his life going into the new season. I'll ask another way, how much would you of accepted for Morgan last summer? Do you think the Championship is a massive step-up from league 1? Maybe £100k, £200k £300k? if we could get Shankland for £50k and an off form player we'd do it. There would be a queue of teams after him if that was a real thing. You're talking rubbish.
  19. I beleive we should of been recruiting above the level of Mac this season and certainly above Baird. Fact is we've brought in two CB that don't look anywhere near good enough. He's the best we have unless we want to go out again and spend more budget. With your hairbrained idea of spending all our money on one striker, I don't see how we could do both. I actually just said to an Ayr fan in my work your £50k and Mullen comment, he spat his coffee over the desk. Said he'd be offended if you added a zero to that and would still want the club to say no. Then if the club did accepted that bid, he'd cut-up his season ticket on the spot. Welcome to reality
  20. Why on earth would Mullen go to Ayr? And why would Ayr want him? Zero goals in four games and 3 in 14 at that level last season in what is very likely a better St Mirren side than the Ayr side would be this season. We'd also need to pay part of his wages because he won't (and nor should he) take a pay cut. £50k for your best striker and an off-form striker, that's a new level of crazy. Shankland is shapping up to be their Lewis Morgan, would you of taken £50k for him and a out of form Celtic player last summer? Absolute nonsense So Hibs are holding out for £4 million for McGinn but Ayr should be delighted with £50k for a striker that's had two hat-tricks already
  21. £100k or someone that looks like he could be a 20-30 goal hitman in the league? They'd make more than that if he gets them to later stages of cups and keeps them from relegation. No chance.
  22. I don't see how anyone can hold an injury against him, the games he played behind Jack is because we were a winning team, naturally he'd struggle to get back in, wouldn't be fair on Jack otherwise. He eventually won his place back and was fantastic. Baird never won the position back for the rest of the season. Everything from the first four games suggests he's currently the best we have in that position. We didn't need a bench warmer, we were flying. Jack Ross even said himself the signing was more for next season, he wasn't match sharp because he hadn't played much and his contract length backs-up he was signed for this year. Flynn has been poor, Mullen has been poor, neither have looked a shadow of what McShane or Reilly were when on form last season. Kellerman I think has only played in one game, We can't do what Middlesbourgh want at the deterement to our team. If Eck at LB and him at LM is better for us, it's a no brainer.
  23. Mac wasn't injured for 22 games, he just struggled to displace JB for a while, when he did, he was miles ahead of the three CBs to play so far this season. Hippolyte was signed for this season, Reilly wasn't playing because JR seemed to be favouring Mullan (possibly to see how he'd do for next season if Reilly left) who has been poor so far, McShane was poor against Spartans but in a number of games last season played miles above what I've seen in last three games Coulson played for Middlesbourgh unders as a winger, could easily play both IMO. Missing games doesn't make him a bad option.
  24. We need someone within our budget, how much do you think Ayr would want for their under contract, number one goal threat? If it was me, I wouldn't be letting him go for anything under £300k-£500k We need to sign several positions, that is too much for one player.
  25. Wish it was true but in reality we're nowhere near. They've signed arguably two of the best players from the league last season outside of Celtic, Sevco and Aberdeen. Aberdeen POTY didn't move much further up than them to Norwich. If they wished I feel they could likely sign almost any player in the league outside the top three. Scottish football isn't very good, that's why our European teams more often than not get hammered before actual European competiton begins. Sad but true.
