Herbie
2 questions.... Got a relatively new computer. Every time I try to play a video or mpeg from the internut, it is very erratic, keeps pausing and tells me that it's "buffering". Also the sound cuts in and out a lot. Is there an upgrade or download available that will help stop this? Secondly, sound seems to have completely disappeared from my system. Have done all the relevant volume checks etc but can't trace the problem. Sound card maybe? Any help appreciated.

If your connection is poor then streaming very large videos will be jerky and poor. If this didn't happen on your old computer then I suggest a wee call to your ISP to check your line quality. Of course - it depends on the size of the file you are trying to view too - and the congestion on the remote web server. If it's porn then a friend of mine (I would never download porn )recommends downloading it and then viewing at your leisure rather than streaming it. If the sound card is faulty it should be showing up with a yellow ! in the system device manager (control panel/system/device manager) Is it ?
