Wrong Planet
With apologies to Ian Dury for blatant plagiarism of his lyric. Oh, and for those not interested in statistics please look away now, this won't be of interest. Fair warning.... Putting the spotlight on the post split fixtures, and in order of the fixtures.... Hibs We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9Partick We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9Ross County We have taken 3 points in total (1 win) from a possible 9Kilmarnock We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9Hearts We have taken 4 points in total (1 win, 1 draw) from a possible 9 So, of our current 28 point league total, we have attained 19 points against our post-split opponents. That's 67.9% of our total points. More importantly, we have attained 19 points from a possible 45 points against our post-split opponents. That's 42.2% of the points available. Not great, however, if we take the 42.2% and extrapolate against the 15 available from the post split games the statistics would suggest that we would be on target for 6.33 (6) points post split. Granted, this is all wildly theoretical, but for those interested in statistics (like Bookmakers - this is what they do) what it does suggest is that tomorrow's game against Motherwell is massively critical. If we could get the 3 points added to the theoretical 6 post split it might just be enough. We all know that form and stats can easily fall by the way side when backs are to the wall, but there it is for those interested in the numbers. COYS, we need a big performance tomorrow. Please. Desnold
If you're going into it in that much depth, were the points picked up Home or Away? How does that leave your statistics Post Split?
Wrong Planet
If you're going into it in that much depth, were the points picked up Home or Away? How does that leave your statistics Post Split? We play Hibs at home. We have played them once at home this season. It was a draw We play Partick away. We have played them once away this season. It was a win We play Ross County at home. We have played them once at home this season (or once that counted!). It was a win We play Kilmarnock away. We have played them once away this season. It was a defeat We play Hearts at home. We have played them once at home this season. It was a draw So, leaving the reverese to Killie to one side, it actually improves the picture slightly. In summary, from the 15 points available we took 8. That's 53.3%. Extrapolate that over the like for like ties post split and that would deliver 7.995 points (call it 8!) Hambud
Would 8 see us safe? can you do the safe for all the other teams?;) Edited April 4, 2014 by Hambud
Wrong Planet
Would 8 see us safe? can you do the safe for all the other teams?;) As the saying goes "Lies, damned lies, and statistics!". I'll say this Hambud, given the season we have had I would take 8 from the final 15 right now. Tomorrow is massive, final game against top 6 opposition and what a boost it would be if we could record a famous victory.
oscar
Here's a stat for you: Win the next six = 18 points = safety and SPFL next season (again!) And here's another: 100% = the number of knickerwetters wringing out their knickers in preparation for next season in the SPFL! COME ON YE SAINTS! Hambud
There is a good thread on p and b with fans of teams showing the points they have gained against the teams in the bottom 6.
Hambud
From an RC Fan: As we go into the bottom six split with all five teams looking to avoid that final playoff spot, how have you done against your fellow bottom six opponents this season? Ross County have 14 gathered points from our total of 31 points. We have got this from the following: 4 points from Hearts. Winning and losing at home, and pinching a draw away from home. We travel to Hearts in our first game. 1 point from Killie. We drew and lost away to Killie and lost at home. We host Killie in our second game. 6 points from St Mirren winning both our home games but losing away from home. We travel to St Mirren in our third game. 1 point from Hibs. We drew at Easter Road in our first match of the season. We also lost at home to Hibs in the Scottish Cup We host them in our fourth game. 2 points from Partick. We lost at home in our first game of the season and drew the other two encounters. We travel to them in the last game of the season. From the two home games we have left we have lost to all our home matches this season to our opponents. From our away games we have left we have mustered two points from the three games. Very squeaky bum time for Ross County.
Hambud
From a Partick fan: We've had a shitload of draws but we need minimum 2 and probably 3 wins. Can't see us getting them. in terms of results Hibs : w1 d1 l1 = 4 Killie : w0 d2 l1 = 2 County: w1 d2 l0 =5 St M: w1 d1 l1 = 4 Hearts: w1 d1 l1 = 4 We're due a result vs Killie if nothing else, them and Hibs have spawned points against us all season. Hambud
From a Killie fan: Hearts: w3 d0 l0 = 9pts Hibs: w0 d1 l2 = 1pts St Mirren: w1 d1 l1 = 4pts Thistle: w1 d2 l0 - 5pts County: w2 d1 l0 = 7pts 26 points from our 33 have come against bottom 6 teams, which is fantastic form going into the bottom 6. I'm still not confident though. I reckon if we pick up 6 more points we will be fine; 3 of those are guaranteed at Tynecastle.
Hambud
From a saints fan: Hearts. w1 d1 l1 - 4 pts Hibs. w1 d1 l1 - 4 pts PT. w1 d1 l1 - 4 pts Rc. W1 d0 l2 - 3 pts Killie. W1 d1 l1 - 4 pts 19 points against bottom 6 isn't very good, though only Partick of them have beaten us at home this season and we have won on the road to Partick and we are playing them at Firhill. It's very finely balanced. We haven't beaten Killie on the road this season, but I don't think that is too far out the realms of possibilities, though I'm sure their fans would think the same about us.
