  1. I'm going. Can get an old fud's day saver ticket on the train for £17 return. Pity I don't qualify for an old fud's concession at the turn style.
  2. 1874 That was the year of the Tompkins Square Riots when the New York City police clashed with thousands of unemployed demonstrators. At one point the demonstrators threatened to burn down a school and 46 arrests were made. There were no more riots after that. Coincidentally 1874 was also the year Soap production started on the US west coast. Could it just be possible that those East coast unemployed, education hating, rioters who had never learned about Soap were deported to Greenock in 1874. Just a thought???????
  3. Anyone see that movie about Vietnam with John Wayne. the theme tune, the Ballad of the green beret, has a catchy we chorus about silver wings on their chest and being the best etc. How about a Saints version "With our Buddies badge upon our chest we are the Saints, we're Paisley's best and we will go, where the St Mirren go. We are the North Bank agg...a ...rro" I'm sure the drum beat would be a dawdle for Josh and the St Mirren band.
  4. Cheers that would make it We have a player called Kyle Magennis A buddie who comes from Paisilee He plays behind a guy called Reilly who said assist the Goals for me. Reilly and Magennis don't rhyme the way Storrie And Rory did but that works. Cheers. I'll join in with great Gusto on saturday
  5. Ticket arrived yesterday. All set for this one. Couple of Hearts fans yesterday tipping Jim Duffy for the Scotland Job so lets put another dent in his CV this week. At the Falkirk game on Saturday I heard the Old Craig Storrie/Rory Loy chant being brought out the bag and dusted down for this season. I think its a catchy wee number but I missed the updated lyrics of the first two lines can someone fill in the updated prelude to Someone said to me, who you going to see I said, St Mirren FC Just so I can do my bit to help put another St Mirren dent in Jim Duffy's record.
  6. Sorry had a video of hibs fans playing the piano. Can't work out how to load it
  7. Right let's have a go at a match report. Live from Waverley after at least ??? Pints (sorry that was censored by the don't tell the wife police). The stadium was full McGinn was, well not at his best. Hibs scored Isma came on. He did not play like God. Maybe you shouldn't give match reports if there are 44 players and two balls on the park. Good game I think. Where's platform 4. Train leaves at 2314 (hic!)
  8. No it isn't. The robotic forum police censored my post. We may on occasion refer to the referee as fatherless but most Buds would never refer to him or her being a keen yin if you get my cockney adaption. UEFA would have been all over them like a rash if they sang that in a European competition. Still I suppose they don't often get the chance to play in big European nights
  9. Couple of Points re Rangers Hypocracy ALVES quote from BBC Bruno Alves said the physical nature of his team's League Cup semi-final 2-0 defeat by Motherwell was "too much" and "not football". Thats a bit rich rich from a thug who should have been sent off. Then there is the issue of The SFA and the SFL regarding stamping out the sectarian cancer that riddles the game. Will any action be taken against the Rangers morons who were singing who's the ******** in the black live on international TV. Don't think so. In addition ALVES is unhappy not only that the referee wasn't on Rangers side, He also believes opposing defenders shouldn't try and stop him from scoring "All the game I'm trying to jump for balls and someone is trying to block me. Sometimes you get tired of this and you start to react. It's not good for football. EBT's, bigotry and dodgy referees are bad for football but who do they think they are when they expect the opposition to lie down too. Rant over I'm off to the Hibs v Hearts game to see J McGinn.
  10. Big game tonight through in the far East. Popping along to see what all the fuss is about courtesy of some Hibee Hospitality via my work. It should be a good game and another good performance from the maestro John McGinn should add a another couple of quid to our pay off. Looking forward to a good game. Hearts coming on to a bit of form but Hibs look the stronger team. Should be exciting. Might not see much of the game though. When I initially agreed to go I thought meeting at 12pm was acceptable for a Saturday 3pm kick off but FFS for a Tuesday 745pm number its a bit keen. So an afternoon in Leith followed by some expert analysis of John McGinn's performance from 7.45 onwards. Maybe it won't be so expert.................which No 7 is McGinn (Hic!)
  11. A Hidden game. "Elementary my dear Fowler. I deduce a Saints victory and there will be a crowd."
  12. Another fine day out in Falkirk and what a contrast to the good old, bad old days when Fergie was the man and I last travelled to Falkirk in a title winning year. 11 Sept 1976 those halcyon days when drink was allowed in the ground and segregation was a thing of the future. The opposition were the enemy and derogatory chants were compulsory, not frowned upon, in the days when fisty cuffs and missile throwing meant every match was a real adventure. We got cuffed 2-0 that day and the “Falkirk Fear” or the “Falkirk Yoof” as they liked to be known put a couple of bricks through our bus window. It was a draughty run home. In complete contrast, move on 40 years to the modern game and the Falkirk Yoof have all grown up and are really nice lads and lasses. I started off “behind the wall” my merry band of Buds all bedecked in the full Joma regalia and black and white scarves conversed and drank freely with the myriad of blue, red and black topped Falkirk lads and lasses all proudly sporting their Falkirk Steeples on their badges. They all wished us well but they were not confident in the least about their team’s chances. We were offered tickets on their bus to take us to the ground but a few of them persuaded us to go to their local “Cheers” and we got seats on their bus. Instead of throwing drink cans at each other we just passed the glasses and bottles about and drank the contents. All very civilised and modern. Lots of good banter and then together on the bus to the game. As regards the game. These are only my opinions but I do respect JR and he obviously knows better than me but we should have won that. I thought we started off well and we should have scored early on. Riley and Morgan had good chances but it just didn’t happen. Credit to JR. He realised Morgan was toiling and swapped him and Magennis around but we didn’t improve much and Falkirk came into the Game. I thought replacing Magennis with Sutton was a mistake. Sutton spent more time wrestling and falling on his arse than he did making space and with a reduced midfield Falkirk took control. That meant Riley had to come off to regain the midfield but I’m not sure Kirkpatrick was the answer. I thought McGinn played better this week but it was only after Macpherson came on that Smith started making runs that hurt and we had two chances at the end. Still to be honest I would have taken a point at the start but I reckon we should have won that. Falkirk were woeful up front and never really looked like scoring. Still all the other results fell into place and we can only get better. After the game, the Falkirk fans waited for us and ran us back into town on their bus. It was back to “Cheers” for beers and post-match Analysis. Good banter, good fun, good natured and a good point I eventually conceded. This could be another title winning year and hopefully this time we won’t get chased out of Dundee by the “Hilltown ****” like we did when we lifted the title on that famous Tuesday night in 1977. I’m far too old for that now. It’s much more civilised buying them drink instead of throwing it at each other.
  13. Did McGinn say in the interview if he told Elvis he would be unavailable today[emoji12]
  14. When did you get time to read a paper have you no got a cafe to run. Does the Saturday record reach Rothesay the same day. Maybe it's last month's your reading.
  15. We're on our way again, although why I'm on such an early train when Falkirk is a hell of a lot closer than Paisley I don't know. I must be keen. Right up for this one. It's a lovely sunny day through in the East. I feel good. A spot of breakfast in Edinburgh. A few Beers in Falkirk and 3 points at the Falkirk Stadium (good old fashioned name). Shaping up to be another great day. We're top of the league and you're no.
  16. That line about "We're the black and white talk of Paisley Town" The PAISLEY DAILY EXPRESS might contest that
  17. Good Point but he was an extra so maybe its still five 0
  18. Hopefully Falkirk will just keep running on the cannae get three points Hamster wheel
  19. The shorthand used to remember the percentage of Gary Mack appearances more accurately is , 68.27%, the values lie within one, two and three standard deviations of the mean, respectively. In mathematical notation, these facts can be expressed as follows, where X is an observation from a normally distributed random variable μ is the mean of the distribution, and σ is its standard deviation: {\displaystyle {\begin{aligned}\Pr(\mu -\;\,\sigma \leq X\leq \mu +\;\,\sigma )&\approx 0.6827\\\Pr(\mu -2\sigma \leq X\leq \mu +2\sigma )&\approx 0.9545\\\Pr(\mu -3\sigma \leq X\leq \mu +3\sigma )&\approx 0.9973\end{aligned}}} HOPE THAT CLEARS THINGS UP
  20. Listening to Paul Hartley it sounds that he has started building from the back. 3 clean sheets and now thinking about trying to score goals. Hopefully that will open them up a bit leaving Smith, Morgan, Riley and Co. to tear them apart. A lot of talk about getting the 3 points in what for them is a massive game. Hopefully we now have the mentality that every game for us now is a colossal game. 3 points would be a monumental achievement for us. I always considered Falkirk as one of the main challengers for the league despite their poor start so COYS lets put them to the sword this week and lay down our own marker that we mean business. Usual plan this week. Meeting some Buds at 'Behind the wall' (upstairs) hopefully secure tickets for their bus. Few beers topped of with 3 points. Perfect. Might need to dig out the woolly hat for this one. Winter is Coming. Hopefully we'll be all over Falkirk like a Blizzard
  21. We're on our way..... Brilliant day out drank too much but still aim to get more. Still whistling ",top of the league and you're no" loving it. Where are the 4 Morton fans in North Berwick
  22. Not sure who's playing where today but the only other obvious football fan I've seen wandering about the big city was a wee bud in a blue Cabrini saints jacket milling about Queen Street. It's good supporting a big team again
