  1. Tommy's being managing this football club for at least 6 months, I'm glad it's now official.
  2. Don't want to be too harsh on him, he's a young player making his first start at this level, that was evident. In saying that, I said the same about Sean Kelly in the same fixture last year after Imrie took him apart and he went on to be an established first team player. Yaqub is our third choice left back, he started because Kelly and Plummer were carrying knocks. He played like a third choice left back, no better no worse.
  3. The result demonstrates in how much better knick we are now compared to last year. Remember that mob came to Paisley and humped us last preseason. Was mainly positives for me today, especially considering we were missing 4 first choice players (Goodwin, Thompson, Kelly and Plummer). The squad has depth that we simply never had last year, this squad is better balanced and stronger IMO. Last year we finished 8th, next year we will finish higher. Mark my words.
  4. Cup winning goal hero and MOTM (IMO) Jason Naismith.
  5. So did I actually. Looked nicer in the flesh than it did in the pictures, the home one was the opposite.
  6. Full time: Morton 0-1 St Mirren 1st half was a bit dull but picked up after the break. Game was even-ish, both keepers made decent saves but always felt we were the more likely and that we deserved the win. The goal when it came was good one, an over lap from Wylde on the left and a good cut back which evaded everyone and fell to Jason Naismith at the far post, who finished first time with aplomb. Still not convinced by the big defender from Livi, he's a bit hesitant and not commanding enough for me. Also thought Yaqub had a poor game at left back, anyone know why Plummer wasn't involved? Kenny and John had decent games in the middle but they miss the enforcement of Goodwin. Our best player was Naismith I felt, and he took his goal excellently. Quite amusing to note that plenty Morton fans had written him off after his loan spell down there. Early days for us and we are still rusty, but there's definitely promising signs there. Marwood and Caldwell look promising and they had nice touches, particularly a great bit of skill by Marwood in the second half. Both will be able deputies for Thommo when he returns. Hoping for a step up in performance in our 3 games in England.
  7. Well he's spent most of his career on the right wing, but played as a striker last year. I think he will be used in both roles this season. Wide right is a position we don't have much cover in, Teale and... Marwood.
  8. Just go to Cappielow instead
  9. Return of the Rory. Surely he can't throw this one away...
  10. Newsnet FFS A credible neutral source please.
  11. Will be interesting to see how Tommy shapes the team tomorrow for our first *proper* friendly. Hopefully Kenny and coach Goodwin will be available, would like to see us line up: Kello Naismith McAusland Mevlija Plummer McGinn Goodwin Marwood McLean Wylde Caldwell Morton 0-3 St Mirren Caldwell x2, Wylde
  12. Should be super. We are spending the weekend in Whitley Bay, any other buds holing up there?
  13. It will be Ukrainian separatists with Russian missiles. Will certainly be interesting to watch the wests reaction over the next few weeks...
  14. What makes you think he'd have been a good signing exactly? He had 0 goals and 0 assists. The starts he had he was terrible, notably St Johnstone at home and Dundee Utd away, where his moving to right back directly led to us turning a 2 nil lead into a 3-2 defeat. He had plenty of chances with us, and did absolutely nothing of note in any of them. I'm delighted we never signed him, Caldwell and Marwood will offer far more.
  15. The point is exactly how they go. We didn't have to let Mair go at all, we had to pay him to leave. It's not comparable to releasing an out of contract player at all, unless you have an axe grind.
  16. Not sure if that's a serious post or not...
  17. You don't see the difference between letting an under contract player leave mid season to a rival and releasing an out of contract player?
  18. McGowan absolutely had to go. On the park he was largely rubbish, off the park, well... He was a senior pro on big wages, releasing him would have been the easiest decision Tommy made this summer.
  19. You forgot to sign out of LoveStreet and sign into your elvis account. 'Vastly inferior'!
  20. We're certainly in a far better state now than we were at this stage last year, although that wouldn't be difficult.
  21. You've been saying that for 5 years to be fair.
  22. Exactly. If there's one time we don't mind Thommo being injured, it's right at the start of pre season.
  23. Someone better tell them we are the home team...
