  1. 1. Bob Marley - Surprisingly the old Apollo was nowhere near full 2 Alice Cooper '82; Seen him a few times always a great show but sometimes if the band is a bit too HM you lose out on the fun side of Alice. 3. The Ramones - Barrowland (Summer '84); Hottest gig I've ever been to people were faintin' and being carried out, prew what a scorcher! 4. Motörhead (Ace of Spades) Seen them quite a few times but this was them at their peak narrowly edges out No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith tour. 5. Waterboys - (Fisherman's Blues); Again IMO this was their highspot, at Brixton Acadamey. Great venue for a gig but on the way out I was glad to be with a coupla mates as I reckon it could be quite a scary place for a lone white boy. ******************************************************** Saw The Who ('81) and Status Quo ('82) do their first farewell tours! Loudest gig I saw was Big Country at the Town & Country in Campden Town ('90); they were playing as part of the 10th Anniversary Series of gigs for the club. It's a medium sized venue (Capacity 1500 approx), but they must've bought their full sound system coz it was LOUD! Weirdest band was Tangerine Dream who played behind a black net curtain so you couldn't really see them with the exception of when Edgar Froese came out to do a coupla guitar solos.
  2. Well for those of you with long memories we've (my daughter & I) finished The Amazing Maurice which was excellent and will be starting Harry Potter VI, all 600 pages of it. I'm reading Hard Eight, a Stephanie Plum novel, to pass away the time when I'm not working. It's a bit of a "chick" book but hey you've gotta get in touch with yer feminine side. Just found out there is a new China Miéville novel, Iron Council. Go out and buy it now, (well wait 'til Friday) CM is the best SF author by a margin at present.
  3. Welcome back Sid. Still frothing at the mouth after your sabbatical. KTF!
  4. John Otway - House of the Rising Sun (Surely the definitive version of this song)
  5. Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast If we were limited to sensible posts, pertinant to Saints, we'd be down to less than 10 a day. As Paul McCartney so righteously said Live and let Die.
  6. As obscure as the following ........... 1. The Battlefield Band. 2. Whistlebinkies. 3. Shooglenifty. 4. Silly Wizard. 5. Peatbog Faeries. ........ and I've seen three of them.
  7. Currently listening to Revolver by The Beatles but will be looking out Heavy Horses, and others, by Jethro Tull for a petrol-less future. PS - My local Tesco is selling it at 89.9p/litre.
  8. White Man in Hammersmith Palais - The Clash
  9. A classic. I'll be looking for that on my next visit to the local Music Emporium. Wonder if there are any other DPW reissues.
  10. The Beatles - Here comes the Sun The Beatles - Sun King The Beatles - I'll follow the Sun The Beatles - Goodday Sunshine and er...... The Beatles - Mother Nature's Son
  11. Stone Roses - Stone Roses Why have I not listened to that in at least a year?
  12. Never said it was. While Amazing Grace was part of AG's Woodstock set he let it be known that he wasn't Desperately Seeking any number of Susans.
  13. If you're going to Bud the Baker's Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.....
  14. Alice's Restaurant - Arlo Guthrie Yes. It's Peace, Love & Harmony @ Myplace!
  15. Coming into Los Angeles (Live version from Woodstock) - Arlo Guthrie Think I'll just go and sniff my Country Joe & The Fish T-shirt. Damn, the woman's washed it!
  16. McB, The season Coughlin resigned. At the time most of your lot were predicting promotion for Morton and relegation for Saints. I don't normally mind about Morton's results but that time I did indulge in a bit of schadenfraude
  17. Para Handy Morton's promotion disaster 2003/4. Well it made me laugh. Rab C. Nesbitt Naked Video That Sinking Feeling
  18. If he wisnae deid. Don't tell me you're at it now as well!!! 188300[/snapback] I was speaking about the metaphysical pub. As de Selby says all pubs are conected to each other thru' the metaphysical pub and it is possible to enter one pub at a specific time and leave a completely different one at another time. I know this to be true.
  19. Was it absurdist comedy (yes), a surreal satire (yes), just plain daft or merely a pile of unmitigated dog jobby (very possibly - it wasn't considered good enough for publication until O'Brien died)? Couldnae make my mind up. So I went to the pub instead (Where you'd have been most likely to bump into the author).
