Even Celt*c have signed 3 non Scots on loan so far this summer. This is the way football operates in the modern world. The days of having a team of Scots who are all permanent signings and stay with you for a number of seasons are long gone.
-
As someone who was very critical of our signings in the past I can say that I AM actually very impressed with our signings so far. We didn't score on Saturday but I think it was just bad luck. We had plenty of attempts. I think we'll score goals this season.

Keeping hold of the ball to kill a game stone dead is not a good idea. One slip (and most passing moves break down after 5 passes) and you could be history. Best way to kill a game stone dead is to allow the opposition to keep hold of the ball and sit back and let them.

You brought the subject up, not me... so I'll happily give you my response. Passing the ball up the park only for the defenders to 'sweep up the ball' ... what difference does it make?... Most goals come from a regain of possession in the last 3rd. How you actually get into the last 3rd is essentially irrelevant. Boot the ball up to the opposition defenders, pass it up the pitch to the opposition defenders - doesn't matter. Most goals come after the opposition defenders 'sweep the ball up'... then lose possession or give away a foul. The key differences between booting it up the park as opposed to passing it up the park are: 1. You can get the ball into the attacking 3rd more often and more quickly by booting it up the pitch - hence creating mors goalscoring opportunities. 2. You may lose possession whilst attempting to pass it up the pitch, eg in your own defensive 3rd or the middle 3rd after 'sweeping the ball up'... and you then have a disorangised defence. If you boot it up the park you cut out most of the risk. Most passing moves break down within 5 passes anyway... its much easier to win the ball once than to string 5 passes together! I would like to see pacey wingers like Adam Drury doing their business in the attacking third against disorganised defenders. Chasing after through balls, taking defenders on. I don't really like to see wingers bogged down in midfield against organised defences passing sideways or losing possession and putting us under pressure. If you want to take on at this subject you'll need to do better than use meaningless phrases such as "quick passes" and "sweep the ball up". Give me some stats and examples and argue your case.

a 'quick' short pass?what would a slow short pass entail?

I'm not sure we do. We had Brown & Teale on the bench on Saturday. You never have enough good players however...

Winger or full back with some pace the new Gareth bale in expecting nothing less

Think about it logically kello, ridgers, plummer, McLean, ball, marwood, tesselaar and Caldwell all signed contracts for tc this summer while Goodwin and teale accepted roles as assistant coaches that's 10 of a small squad who we can discount from being unhappy so who does that leave? is it really likely that young boys like naismith, Kelly and mcginn are going to be so unhappy about it to start causing problems? is cheesy going to be upset when it was his old man who had a part in appointing him? wylde has only been at the club a few months Steven Thompson has just been made captain anyone left? the story doesn't even make sense

Not sure that is the correct name David. AFAIA, RIFC is the holding company that owns the actual brand new club/company which is simply called 'The Rangers FC Ltd' and was called Sevco Scotland upon founding in 2012. 'The Rangers' would therefore have sufficed. -

Replacing this injury prone crock with a proper left sided player who can actually defend was a fantastic piece of business. -

Yes, I wasn't at the game and sometimes you get a different perspective at the game itself - I also don't trusts the BBC stats. In saying that, sometimes you walk away from games not remembering really all the attempts at goal. If the stats are correct then I agree with your very last sentence. -
As for Cheesy's wage, think about it logically. St. Mirren's total wage bill is circa £2 million in the last accounts that I looked at. That info is available to anyone. If someone was getting £3k per week basic then that would account for 7.5% of the entire wage bill (or approx 1/13th). You need to pay the wages of the other 17/18 first team squad players, plus all the bonuses, plus the manager and other coaching staff, plus Brian Caldwell, plus all the admin staff, plus Campbell Kennedy, plus the youth players, plus Longwell and his wee boys, etc, etc. If Cheesy is getting £3k per week then gulf between him and the rest must be massive. Logically, I don't think that is possible.

Maybe its the same guy who told you that the Iraq was has nothing to do with Scotland.

According to the stats we had 20 attempts on target today and 11 off target compared to Motherwell having 9 on target and 4 off target. Based on these stats, the problem doesn't appear that we didn't shoot on sight. The problem just appears to have been bad luck. We'll see how the season pans out. -

No, we may still have lost. But that doesn't excuse him. He'll be missing the next game as well and we have no natural replacement as a defensive midfielder. -

Sounds like we're still on the attack. Still time yet. -

We're less likely to score and more likely to concede another with him sent off. There is no excuse for being sent off for dissent, especially as he's the coach and was on a booking. -

Positive note, we've played with 2 up front and despite Sir Thommo out injured we were still able to bring another striker on as a sub. Got to be good after a year with just 1 striker on the books. -

Was Goodwin sent off for dissent? If that is the case then that really is a disgrace.
