  1. Don't k iw about angry but I think society is uncomfortable with a 42 yo harassing a 16 yo and abusing their position to do so. Ah! To be honest I haven't actually read the story, though my Mrs did tell me that he'd sent 100 texts to the boy. I said to her that those 100 texts could have been over a period of months, and part of a conversation in which the boy had frequently replied. Equally, it could be that the politician harassed the boy and was trying to coerce him into sexual activity. The media can present facts in such a way as to make an innocent person looks bad. Would you be comfortable with a fully consensual relationship with a 42 year old man and a 16 year old boy? What about a relationship between men of 25 and 51?
  2. Do you think the age of consent should different for males and females? Or heterosexual males and homosexual males? No. I think there should be a universal age agreed upon when somebody is considered mature enough to make decisions about their life, and that should be it. I cannot see how one can be mature enough to make decisions about their sexual conduct, i.e. potentially procreate or contract STIs, but not be mature enough to buy cigarettes/alcohol, drive a car or vote. If sixteen is a legitimate age of consent, then why are people so angry about this? To me it implies society is uncomfortable with it.
  3. Ach, I heard about this earlier. It certainly is creepy, but I have to wonder why the age of consent was lowered to sixteen? I mean if you cannot vote at sixteen, and you cannot drink alcohol or buy cigarettes, then why is the age of consent 16? Either someone of that age is mature enough to make decisions about their life or they aren't. I cannot help but think the legislation was passed to appease Peter Tatchell and other gay rights lobbyists.
  4. That's why the Arbroath game was abandoned: https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/the-keeper-conceded-a-corner-from-his-own-kick-out-strong-winds-force-match-between-arbroath-and-stranraer-to-be-abandoned/ Not to my knowledge. If the wind is the same speed throughout the game then arguably conditions are even. But if you're playing into a 45 mph wind, I'd suggest it must have an impact on you.
  5. I think one is always better playing with the wind. If we win the toss we should definitely decide to play with the win, as it could die down in the second half. Furthermore, playing into the wind is tiring, and if we took a two goal lead into half time, they'd feel despondent as well as tired. It will make the game more unpredictable.
  6. I'm not sure there would be a health and safety issue do to winds of 45 mph, but I'm wondering whether it would make a farce of the game. If it goes ahead I'd be pleased, as it's the same circumstances for both teams, unless the wind dies down in one half! It could make for a very interesting cup tie and might suit us more.
  7. I thought he was going to play for Raith?! Strange, because I would think he'd still be good enough to play in the third tire.
  8. I can remember being at some windy games, but I don't think 40+ mph.
  9. Aye, happened in Arbroath last year. 45 mph is enough to bring down branches, so I think it might be enough to stop the game.
  10. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2640677 Apparently there will be 44 mph winds! Surely the game would have to be abandoned in that weather, as it would be farcical?
  11. Some of the Motherwell fans aren't very optimistic about their team's chances, following their loss away to Livingston and thrashing at the hands of Sellic: https://www.steelmenonline.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/16098-scottish-cup-2019-2020/page/12/#comments Ach, I can't wait for this.
  12. Form can often go out of the window in cup games. I desperately want us to progress in the cup, as it's a nice distraction from our dismal league performances. 2-1 Saints.
  13. I am being a bit obsessive! LOL
  14. Aye, it was. However it will be embarrassing if we only sell half of our seats. A bigger crowd is more money and a better atmosphere. It's human nature to want to see your side win, which might explain why sales have been so bad. I have to be honest and say I respect Motherwell supporters who, like ourselves, are just a stone's throw away from the aresecheeks, and yet support their local side. I can't blame them for relishing the good times and taking every opportunity to watch their side.
  15. According to my calculations we have sold 2,791 tickets in the home stands. I expected a lot more would be sold. I wonder if many folks will decide to go to the game on Saturday? It would appear a lot of season ticket holders haven't purchased their seats.
  16. It could have been worse, given their late penalty. I really rate David Templeton and I think he'll be a real asset for them. Overall, I think a draw was probably a fair result. I didn't think Hearts would lose tonight, so that's something. Though I'd be surprised if they're in this position come the end of the season.
  17. This will be a nail biter, with so much at stake. Hamilton are no mugs, their performance against Celtic was impressive, especially given that they played much of the game with then men.
  18. This is the sort of initiative that's needed: https://www.stmirren.com/fans-news/3497-group-ticket-offer-for-st-johnstone-match Edit: So congratulations to the club for doing this..
  19. I agree with this. The six clubs you have mentioned are a cut above the rest in Scotland, in terms of their support. I reckon Dundee Utd are averaging more than most SPL clubs playing in the second tier without Old Firm crowds - though I acknowledge people like to see their side win and so that's drawing in the crowds at the moment, too. Motherwell, ourselves, Falkirk, Dundee, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock all have a similar support, and with the exception of Dundee, the proximity to the arsecheeks will always mean we struggle to attract big crowds. In fact I'm sure I recall reading how Kilmarnock's average crowd was only around 7,000 when they won the league in the 1960s. As you say, we can do community work and try to attract new fans, but we need to accept that realistically with our resources it really is a case of trying to be the best of the rest. Having said all that, Motherwell and Kilmarnock have punched above their weight for a good while. Conversely Falkirk and Partick have both underachieved, IMHO.
  20. https://www.thenational.scot/sport/18210421.stephen-robinson-restoring-pride-motherwell/ I despise the arsecheeks.
  21. Motherwell should definitely have been given more tickets, given that they sold out their allocation within a few days! It would have meant more money generated and a better atmosphere.
  22. Ssshhh! Keep that quiet... LOL
  23. Aye, in my opening post I said many folks might buy them at tonight's game. The online booking system isn't perfect by any means, but regardless of how people buy them it should show the number of tickets sold. I've just calculated we've sold 2,701, in addition to the Motherwell support of 1,600, making a total of 4,301 tickets sold. I'm anticipating another 1,000 to be sold before Saturday if we get a decent result tonight.
  24. I hope you're right. It does appear as though season ticket holders haven't purchased their seats, though. My fear is that many will be feeling the pinch after Christmas, or something.
  25. Aye, I found them online too. But they couldn't deliver before tonight's game. Thanks, anyway.
