  1. Are the away tickets on sale? I hope they fill the away end and we get a full house. I cannot see the home stands NOT selling out now.
  2. I hope somebody took this, pal. What a kind gesture. Top guy.
  3. I wasn't predicting doom and gloom, I'm just stating the fact that it's not a foregone conclusion that we will win or draw the game. It really isn't. Killie are playing for their SPL status, and they will probably be backed by a big away support. Shocks happen, if they didn't the whole sport would be pretty pointless. I'm delighted we're in this position. It's more exciting this way than if Livingston or Hibs dropped points - we should have a full house and it will be a great atmosphere if we win it. I'm nervous and fully aware that we could blow it. Those of you who're 100% confident are foolish, IMHO. Put the champagne on ice, but just remember you might not be popping those corks. I would put our odds of finishing top-six at 90% and have a feeling of nervous excitement. We can do it, we should do it, but we haven't done it. Hopefully both ourselves and Dundee Utd will be 3-0 up at half-time.
  4. I've seen us miss out often enough to almost expect it; I was also at the LC game v Arbroath. It's by no means a certainty, sadly. It's the hope/expectation that kills you.
  5. I agree with this to an extent, but then sometimes football can involve an amount of luck - bad or good. Anything can happen. We could lose a couple of players to injury or illness; have a man sent off early one; concede a fluke goal; hit the woodwork six times, etc. It's eleven v eleven at the end of the day, and anything can happen. We should win this, but as Jimmy Greaves used to say: "it's a funny old game."
  6. Only just been able to check the scores! Absolutely stunned, but delighted. That's surely top-six all but confirmed? Can we go an get something at Ibrox, now? Nothing to lose.
  7. Is the badge stitched on?
  8. I was, of course, referring to Glasgow in Suriname... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasgow,_Suriname
  9. Indeed, I live in Glasgow, Buddie. I am not from Paisley, but see the Saints as a great alternative to the OF and Partick Thistle...plus I love the town. However, folk like us probably make up a tiny fraction of the support. Most supporters will be from Paisley or the surrounding areas to the west of the town, I would think. But folk like us are especially dedicated. 😉
  10. Our support this season has been magnificent, both home and away. Given our proximity to the Old Firm - let us not forget, St. Mirren Park is < 6 miles from Ibrox - I think that's a testament to the passion the people of Paisley, and Renfrewshire, have for the club. We have three games to go, though. Let's not get carried away! One game at a time. COYS! 😇 🏁 🇾🇪
  11. You'd better be at the Killie game! In fact...can you make Tynecastle next weekend?
  12. Hearts aren't playing well at the moment, so there's no better time to play them.
  13. I have no idea. Perhaps it could be considered a recent tradition, but it appears to date back at least 150 years, which is greater than living memory and I would suggest at least five generations back. Are you saying that the kilt is not traditional Scottish dress? I think if you were to poll the public, and ask them to describe men's traditional Scottish dress, the vast majority would respond, at least inter alia, with 'kilt'. If you were a quiz show contestant and that question was asked, how would you respond? Anyway, I have more important things to think about. If you have decided that it's not traditional, then I am happy to agree to disagree.
  14. Indeed, it's hypocrisy I cannot stand. Kate Forbes was honest about her beliefs.
  15. Quality stuff. Someone should make a thread listing all the Saints vloggers and vlogs, shouldn't they @shull?
  16. Delighted, but also peed off with myself. I stuck £5 on 2-2, and because I felt bad about that and Livi got pumped at home by ICT 3-0, I stuck the extra couple of quid in my account on this: I cashed out at half-time, of course!
  17. Why do you always have to create a separate post for each prediction, Shull? 🤣
  18. I managed to get a bit more sleep and a bit more positive. Livi have not had the best of runs, and were beaten 3-0 at home by ICT in the Cup, let's not forget. But they will be up for this, and they're no mugs. I'm going for a 2-2 draw.
  19. Aye, basically free money. When do you think they will score their winner?
  20. Are you feeling okay? I was only asking, there really is no reason to be so obnoxious. I didn't suggest it did matter, either; on the contrary, if you were living in Albania that would have been interesting. If you were an Albanian Buddy, it would have been interesting to learn why you'd chosen to the Buddies. I hope you have a great weekend.
  21. Touche. Since when has Albania produced whisky, though? 😉 On a serious note, using my great powers of deduction, I'm presuming you are living in Albania or at least were. What took you over there? I wasn't sure whether you were actually an Albanian who, for whatever reason, had decided to support St Mirren, or a Scot living in Albania...unless there's some other reason for your name, of course. I hope you don't find that an intrusive question, but it's not a typical destination.
  22. 5,678...to mark our gradual decline into eighth place. [/Elvis]
  23. I'm sorry, I don't understand what your point is. Christmas was an RC celebration: More here: https://phcmontreat.org/Exhibit-Christmas.html As per my previous post, Christmas didn't become a bank holiday in Scotland until 1958.
  24. Aye. Source: https://www.nts.org.uk/stories/scottish-christmas-traditions
  25. Above: John Warnock Clapperton, Private in 9th Battalion Royal Scots Regiment, later 12th Machine Gun Corps, 1915-1918 Above is a wood engraving of a Royal Scots Fusilier at a camp in South Africa, from 1879. The kilt has been the national dress for a long time. The kilt, bagpipes, whiskey, haggis, Burns, shortbread, Irn Bru, first footing - these are all things that will come to mind when folk talk about Scottish culture. It doesn't mean that Scots typically wear kilts, eat haggis and shortbread, drink whiskey and read Burns. Whether or not you wore a kilt as a child does not determine whether the kilt is traditional Scottish attire, that's not how it works. As for Yousaf, I don't like the man. Then again I wasn't a fan of Nicola Sturgeon, either. I'm not opposed to Scottish independence, but I am not a supporter of the SNP and will probably either spoil my ballot paper or vote for a smaller party (i.e. not Lib/Lab/Con/SNP/Green).
