  1. Here's the text from the reply to my e-mail last night asking the salvation army if it was genuine fundraising. Dear Alan, Thank you for your email. I have checked with our head of fundraising and marketing that justgiving.com is a legitimate fundraising channel. Donations through the system - although privately managed - are ringfenced so monies cannot be 'withheld' by anyone abusing the system. The justgiving.com site enables fundraisers (rather than the charities themselves) to act as an online sponsor form. However, we have no control over what fundraisers may or may not do on external websites. We'd encourage potential donors who are unsure of the legitimacy of any given site to give directly to The Salvation Army at www.salvationarmy.org.uk. I hope that clarifies the position. Thanks again for getting in touch with us. Best wishes, David Giles Webmaster, The Salvation Army UK & Ireland
  2. Please read the whole thing before trying anything. It may be your "short term memory" that's lacking. Clearing out your temporary internet files may help. If you are confident using your filing system right click on start, go to Explore, and find in the C drive the folder within Documents and Settings then within User then within Local Settings that is called Temporary Internet Files. Another way of saying that is "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" Open that and see how much you have stored. You could select all of them and delete OR the simple way to delete them regularly is to right click on your browser icon, click on Internet Properties, it should open on General tab with Temporary Internet Files being the middle section. Click on delete files. Click on ok. If you are unsure about mucking about within the filing system, don't do it. Get help. Spyware may also be using your system if you have nothing in place to stop it. If you don't, then scroll down the list until you find the Free Minimum Security Measures thread by SMFCOK.

I've had the same problem. Also, trying to use pm or post if logged in as invisible tends to crash until logged in as visible. Edited to say, of course it just worked there.

  15. Here is some advice for those forum members that are learning about computing rather than a discussion. You should have anti-virus (to keep the bugs out), firewall (to keep visitors out), spyware detection (to stop spyware being installed) and spyware removal (to get rid of any you have) on your machine. If you don’t have this stuff, things will go wrong. If you don’t know what you’re doing, get it done for you and pay the going rate. Installation is at your own risk. Before installing anything from the sites below, read their info on it. If things do go wrong, don’t blame me, I’m only pointing you in the direction of what you should have. Other similar products are available, use a search engine to find them. Free anti-virus is available from AVG at www.grisoft.com/ A free firewall is available (if your system doesn’t have one) at www.zonelabs.com/ Free spy-ware protection (SpywareBlaster) is available from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ (think about making a donation) Free spy-ware removal (Spybot-S&D) is available from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html (think about making a donation) Please don't pm me with techie questions. I like to use computers, not fix them. Edited to add the bit about donations.
  16. Go to avaya and after about 20 seconds click on "see how intelligent communications solves the ultimate business challenge" It's a series of short films, by avaya, about how avaya brings the world cup to you. Adds up to a short documentary.
