The Legendary Dick Campbell & East Fife Thread

What a day for Arbroath. Just over 2,200 in attendance, with approx 80 traveling from Stenhousemuir. Hospitality was packed and, as per usual, was great value. Had quite a chat with the chairman after the game, he speaks highly of us and is very grateful for the loanees. He can't, obviously, comment on next season but he'd love to have at least one, a lot depends on what happens close season. After the dreadful start to the season, 3 points from the first SIX games, it's astounding that Arbroath are League Champions with 3 games to play. The current management team, Gold and Hamilton, deserves great credit. They came up to hospitality after the game and spoke at length about the supporters and the directors for believing in them. Next season's a massive challenge, part time doesn't make things easier. -

Yesterday was one of the best football days I've had for quite some time. The highs and lows of our game had me all over the place but eventually I could enjoy the excellent hospitality at Arbroath. The Arbroath game was a bit more straightforward, dominated from the first whistle, got the goals they deserved and the scenes at the end, very pleasing. Hope your journey home was a good one mate. A Carlsberg day for me. ππΊππΊ -

Fraser Taylor - Loan to Ballmena Utd
faraway saint replied to truesaint's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
@portmahomack saint, I watched Taylor, and Penman closely today. Penman was assured and confident. Played football more than hoofball. IMO a great prospect but not next season. Another season with Arbroath in the Championship will do him more good than warming our bench. Taylor was class. Diminutive which could be seen as a problem but Messi, and umpteen other players, we're no giants. Scored a goal and was gretted with resounding applause when dubbed, as was Penman. Not sure he's ready for the top league, some decisions to be made close season. -

Indeed. To think some were questioning our manager at times during the season. We are 10th in the league budget wise, to achieve top six 3 years in succession is an amazing achievement. -

Aye, been an up and down season but still played well enough to be in the top six. Where is Elvis and others who were screaming relegation battle? -

Hope your day goes well mate. A long drive but if we win it'll make the journey home much easier. I'll be at Gayfield, which doesn't KO till 5:30 so hopefully Saints will have won and Hearts will drop points and let me concentrate on Arbroath winning the league. -

Like I said a few weeks ago, the knicker wetting was uncalled for. Arbroath have got themselves in a position where it would take a collapse of unimaginable levels NOT to win the league. Tomorrow could be the day, a bumper crowd, live on the telly and I'll be watching from the stands. -
Rangers 0-0 Bilbao, full time. We'll deserved draw, despite all the possession only 3 saves for the Rangers goalie all night. Great result after losing a man after 12 mins.
-
Bilbao miss a soft penalty. Rangers have dropped Butland, he's a bomb scare, and brought in Kelly who, at this stage, over 80 mins, is the hero of the night.
-
Rangers 0-0 Bilbao, half time. Rangers down to 10 men early doors, a tough task becomes even tougher. The Spaniards are lightening quick up front.
-
PSG 2-1 Villa, another brilliantly struck goal. PSG are looking, after so many years of flattering to deceive, like they are the real deal.
-
PSG 1-1 Villa, that didn't last long. What a strike by the PSG 19 year old. 40 mins.
-
PSG 0-1 Villa. Villa have hardly had the ball but brilliant play, started by McGinn, sees them take the lead.

Arsenal 3-0 Real Madrid, great result last night. Never watched it, I'm saving my TV watch for the PSG v Villa game tonight.

Yip, that's a reasonable summary. Should be a good atmosphere, hopefully we get an early goal. -

All we can do is go all out and hope Hearts only draw or lose. With the inconsistent season we've had it's still encouraging we're still in with a shout of top six. This is one of the rare times I'd like to be at a home game although if it doesn't go our way there will be plenty of reasons I'll be glad I'm not. π Just win please. -
Dundee v St Mirren, Sat 5th April

Here's a post from P&B that sums up our current situation up in a balanced and sensible manner, unlike @guinness I'm not sure what Saints dome folks are watching week in week out but I've seen absolutely nothing to make me think we are going to totally collapse and end off bottom 2 ! ETA correction after today's results we are now 200/1 to finish 12th and out to 28/1 to finish in the bottom 2 -
