  1. I thought you were referring to his post about the chocolate line.
  2. He didn't! And how in heavens name did you manage to arrive at the conclusion that it was homophobic?
  3. I, too, have no idea why he considers it inappropriate. The line was known as the chocolate line for obvious reasons.
  4. Herd immunity is developed as the result of widespread vaccination against a disease. Has a vaccine against Covid-19 been developed and used widely?:
  5. I'm surprised that it has taken so long to reach this conclusion. It has been glaringly obvious for some time.
  6. Unfortunately, later Cochrane reviews showed that the neuraminidase inhibitors, Tamiflu and Relenza, were next to useless, shortening the duration of illness by less than one day, and the number needed to treat to prevent one hospitalisation and one pneumonia in the at risk groups exceeded 100. Vast sums were spent on stockpiling huge quantities of these drugs on flawed evidence.
  7. I was in 3rd year at secondary school during the 1957/8 pandemic I was the only boy in an all-male class of 36 who was not infected. Neither my parents nor my younger brother picked it up. I don't remember any great panic at the time.
  8. Perhaps because they were shopping for the family unit!
  9. Quote from BBC Newswebsite( Also heard it on Radio S cotland at lunch time. "Housebuilding giant Taylor Wimpey is one of the few construction firms that has announced it is closing its sites to prevent the spread of Covid-19, But Cabinet minister Michael Gove told the BBC building work could continue if it can be done safely in the open air. Photos of workers crammed into tube trains and on crowded building sites have angered many."
  10. Why should she? I don't remember her being one of the women involved.
  11. I checked the BBC website to find out whether this is a new programme. It appears that this programme has been broadcast 6 or 7 times in the past 3 years. It is well worth a look.
  12. This will increase the sales of local butchers and fishmongers.
  13. I was in my local ASDA (which I believe to be Oaksoft's local) earlier this morning to pick up a few things that we need. The vast majority of the shelves are fully stocked, the notable exceptions being bog rolls and analgesics. How in heaven's name can people manage to clear the shelves of Paracetamol when an individual can only buy 32 tablets or capsules at any one time?
  14. Facts are chiels that winna ding!
  15. I thought you had given up.It is obvious that you are unable to understand what you, yourself, write far less what I have been saying all along!
  16. I think it is highly likely that th4e disruption is likely to be much loner than 2-3 weeks if the number of coronavirus cases continues to increase axs expected.
  17. No. It isn't, but I just want to see how long he is prepared to maintain that he is in the right.
  18. I'm thick and stupid.?. You are still unable to accept that this thread is about one specific coronavirus, Covid-19 and that there is no evidence your Dettol preparation is effective against it.
  19. Do you not think that is pertinent, since the discussion is about the latest variation, Covid-19? I give up. I don't think you will ever remove your blinkers!
  20. A wee touch of paranoia creeping in! You may not have said that the Dettol cleanser killed Covid-19 but you certainly implied it by ringing the piece on coronaviruses and colds on the label. I merely pointed out that it had not been tested against Covid-19 and, therefore, that there was no evidence that it would be effective. I wonder what inoculations you would suggest I have for visiting Paisley. 😀
  21. As I said earlier I was aware of your attempt at humour. Your posts on the subject of cleansers demonstrate your lack of experience in the clinical medicine field. I'll be at the match tonight despite being in two high risk categories: I am happy to accept the views of Prof Jason Leitch, Clinical Director, Healthcare Quality and Strategy , Scotland.
  22. THE coronavirus under discussion is Covid-19,and, as I said, there is no evidence that the Dettol products are effective against it. I have no idea where you get the idea that I have got myself into a state over your post. I am merely pointing out that the claim that the cleanser kills COVID-19 is erroneous. You seem to have forgotten that this thread is not about coronaviruses in general, but about the prevalent Covid-19.
  23. Perhaps your reading skills need brushed up. I concede that you did not mention hand wash. The Dettol cleanser you instanced claims to kill cold viruses. COVID-19 is not a typical cold virus as it affects the lungs and does not produce nasal symptoms. Your original post, which I recognised as being tongue in cheek, referenced Dettol surface cleanser when earlier posts had been about the theft of hand gel from ho0spitals.
  24. You were the one who mentioned antibacterial cleansers. And this extract from the Dettol website confirms that no Dettol products have been tested ag9inst COVID-19. "Does Dettol kill the Coronavirus (COVID-19)? 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus. It is not yet available for commercial testing. Specific Dettol products have demonstrated effectiveness (>99.9% inactivation) against coronavirus strains from the same family as the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in third party laboratory testing, when used in accordance with the directions for use. These products are: Dettol Antibacterial Surface Cleanser Spray, Dettol Antibacterial Surface Cleanser Wipes, Dettol All-In-One Disinfectant Spray, and Dettol Disinfectant Liquid. Given the structural similarities of the COVID-19 virus to the coronavirus strains tested previously (SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, Human Coronavirus), and based on the evidence available to us, we would expect our Dettol products (listed above) to be effective against the new strain. Definitive scientific confirmation of this, as with all other commercially available virucides, can only be provided once testing against COVID-19 Coronavirus has been conducted, following release of the strain by relevant health authorities. The CDC and World Health Organization specifically advises people to wash hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer as a key preventative measure against the spread Coronavirus COVID-19. A good quality disinfectant will help reduce risk to families. Our Dettol Hand Sanitizers use ethanol (alcohol) as the germ disinfection active ingredient in line with CDC and WHO recommendations.
