  3. I'll guess you are a youngster, but the Northbank's repertoire used to be much wider and wittier than it is today. On the subject of singing at Saints matches my old boy told me the first time he heard a chorus from the Saints fans was at the 59 semi final demolition of Celtic - fittingly it was 'When the Saints' From my Northbank days I always especially enjoyed 'Forever and ever ....' or 'We'll f*%k you at home and we'll f*%k you away....'
  4. Noticed a few posts with Stone Roses on them. Recently found this site, lots of good video footage of the Roses, including Play TV's documentary a and live version of Love Spreads - worth a wee browse http://www.thestoneroses.co.uk/videos/index.asp

  6. Thought the C4 show caught the best war films I could recall. I didn't agree with the considered best, but thats popular opinion for you. Also Casablanca, I wouldn't consider that a war film, seemed out of place. After the comments on here and the film clips last night, I'd really like to see Kelly's Hero's again. Was good to see a clip of Gallipoli - it'd slipped my mind, tremendous film.
  7. BtB, I completely agree with your views on Speilberg. I doubt I'd ever watch Schlindler's list again. However, its well worth seeing, Fiennes, Kingsley and Neeson are all superb. As for Shaving Ryan's Privates, IMHO wouldn't recommend it.
  8. I thought it was Full Metal Jacket that was filmed around there. Maybe it was both?
  9. Thanks, I even spelt it correctly . I still remember Paths of Glory being on TV years ago and my old man saying, beforehand, what a wonderful film it was. Is it Kubrick's best film? - IMHO yes. Herbie, I'm inclined to think Braveheart is a war film, considered it for my top 5, too.
  10. An inspired choice, should have been in my 5.
  11. I see that Channel 4 are running yet another fuggin top 100 list, this time war films. I thought 'for fugs sake not another list', and then I thought, 'stuff it, top 5 time' 1. Paths of Glory 2. Land and Freedom 3. The Deer Hunter 4. Lawerence of Arabia 5. Apocalypse Now
