I think all this talk of panic buying is a bit ridiculous, at this stage. To my mind, Rae has seen the chance to sign a quality player, and went for it. We can worry about having 'too many' centre halves later (we have 4, not exactly what I'd call too many). I doubt Rae would sacrifice a striker, midfielder, or a goalie for this signing. No way.

Baird was inconsistent, as is normal for a defender his age, especially in a position that puts him under intense scrutiny every week. He has great potential, in my opinion.

If we went 3-5-2, that would allow Quinn and Hutton to control the middle of the park, while Mallan plays in behind 2 strikers. Like the sound of that.

Think Smith is more of an attacking midfielder/forward. Can definitely play up front. Think Dundee Utd are after him too. Rae is certainly after a 'left-sider' as he called it, so it wouldn't be Morgan. There's a few wingers out there, Lappin, De Vita, Francis-Angol, could be anyone. Just need to wait and see.
