  1. Can't believe there is a direct train from Stranraer to Barrhead. Happy days.
  2. Trust me, I cycle all over Scotland. Never experienced a wind like that. Hill was steep downhill but impossible to freewheel. Friction and wind resistance beat gravity.
  3. The furthest North we got was The Polochar Inn on South Uist and never met anyone that was unfriendly. Going back next year starting at North Uist then northwards. Will take Antrim's points on board as I travel towards Lewis. Just hope the wind isn't as brutal as our recent trip. You know when you have to get out the saddle to pedal downhill, you are in trouble.
  4. Genuinely not met nicer people. Went to Castlebay Hotel for food late on Friday, too late as kitchen shut. The barmaid phoned around for us and eventually got the Craigard Hotel who were still serving. On arrival there, they had a table set up and waiting. Every pub we visited, locals would blether away to us. Our B&B host drove us into Castlebay from Borve as we were too tired to cycle. I lost my ferry ticket for journey back from Eriskay to Barra, Calmac chap said it wasn't a problem. Everywhere we went, people said hello or waved. Really impressed to be honest.
  5. Stunning location mind you. From the Eriskay - South Uist, the pub looked to be sitting right on the ocean. Glad we went to the AM Politician though as we got hammered into the famous whisky. Great day.
  6. Just back from my Outer Hebridean adventure. Went to the Polachar Inn as recommended. Saw the prices for the lunch menu. 12.95 for burger and chips. Started walking backwards, slowly, very slowly, placing menu back onto table, reached the door and ran like fook shouting.."retreat...retreat" Stunning location but will not pay 13 pound for a burger and chips. Cycled back along causeway to Eriskay to the AM Politician and ordered the cheapest thing from their menu which was the beef lasagne.
  7. So glad he wasn't an accused of Operation Yewtree.
  8. Hugh Grant visits this Asian eaterie anytime he is up playing golf in Scotland. I also enjoy their tasty offerings.
  9. Did not realise there was a telly thread. How can I delete this.
  10. Master Of None on Netflix is without doubt funniest comedy I have watched. Just discovered it this week. This is a must watch.
  11. I have to share this. Started watching Master Of None on Netflix. Funniest comedy I have ever seen. This is a must watch.
  12. I know I know but I was like a fish out of water when I was first unleashed into Carnegies. I was a raw, innocent rookie when I started drinking and I always remember my first pint being a Mcewans. I bloody detested the stuff but peer group pressure and simply not wanting to be ostracised from the crowd, I kept drinking it. Raja's soggy pakora was the highlight of my evening as more often or not, I would leave birdless, depressed and it least it took the taste away of the shitey lager. Ah memories.
  13. Look this is a serious thread. Don't fillet with rubbish puns.
  14. For me, it is The Raja all day. Few Mcewans lagers in Carnegies, customary fight with the bouncers, chicken pakora in the delicious Raja then back home to my time machine. Memories.
  15. As long as we don't get too scooshed in the South Uist watering hole then will try and give it a visit. We are on bikes.
  16. Yes, yes. The SS Politician shipwreck. One of the reasons we are going. Will definitely try the Polocher Inn now it has been recommended [emoji106]
  17. I am going to Barra/Eriskay/South Uist/North Uist this weekend to explore the stunning scenery and world famous beaches. I am now having sleepless nights at the thought of litter strewn beaches.
  18. Gallup have just done an opinion poll and apparently we are second favourites for the Championship next season. Think I will trot down to the bookies and put a pony on us.....right guys, there are no puns left.
  19. Probably Shull. Does he not start everything.
  20. Nice to have a post where we can have a laugh for once. Some good patter. Think this reflects on our mood for the season. There are no horse puns in this post, just enjoying the humour.
  21. It is amazing what a bottle of port does for your creative juices. I have just remembered there was an earlier thread "3 songs for matchdays." I have one. "Mule Never Walk Alone"
