  1. Parked the bus and with a bit of luck could have scraped a 0-0. Didn’t deserve anything from tonight and didn’t expect anything. Celtic weren’t overly impressive tonight but we offered nothing. Hopefully Robinson got a good look at Main tonight. The one and only thing you expect from him is effort but he wasn’t working to press their players at all. Greive or Brophy every time before him. We move on quickly and focus on the next couple of massive games ahead.
  2. We were second best today, even with 11 v 11. Thought the Greive pen claim was a good one but not a stonewaller. Most refs would’ve given it. Really like Greive’s movement and energy and he looks a great find but he does go down a bit easy at times, as do most players nowadays to be fair. Ronan had no intent to catch the boy but it was a red and he’ll be a miss in the next couple of games. Hopefully Fraser doesn’t get done retrospectively for his challenge just before Ronan’s. Not impressed with Robinson’s post match interview. Saying it was the ref that cost us today. We weren’t nearly good enough. Hearts bossed it from the start. Probably not fair to compare him to Goodwin, but one of Goodwin’s strengths was his honesty in interviews. Still pretty sure that Robinson will come good for us. Also not impressed with the knuckle dragging Hearts fan on the way in today that called us ********s. They still have a bigot element with some of their support. Diet Rangers fans. Hopefully we play better in the cup game. Definitely think Robinson and the boys will be fired up for it after today. Whatever happens, we’ll always have the fond memories of Obika night to cheer us up.
  3. Went into work this morning with a gloomy Broonie/Naisey shaped cloud hovering above my head; left with a wee spring in my step. Hopefully the Robinson deal goes through. Good experience and track record up here, exactly what we should be looking for at the moment.
  4. Absolutely, no manager is going to turn down moves to Sunderland or Aberdeen from us. Compare Goodwin and Ross’s achievements with us in comparison to the likes of Stubbs and Rae. Still gutted to lose Goodwin but £250k in the bank and a more experienced Jack Ross in our dugout who knows our club we’ll would soften the blow.
  5. Good point in the end. What has that wee article Collum got against us. He’s an attention seeking wee numpty who ruins games on a regular basis. Well done the Buddies. Back to more worrying and wild speculation about our new gaffer.
  6. Not surprised. When Langfield who’s one of the boys in charge today says ‘my head is burst’ pre match you know the players are going to struggle mentally today.
  7. Fingers crossed. Obviously Goodwin knows Samson well enough, who’s up there already.
  8. Was there not talk yesterday of Langfield going with them too? That would be more bad news. He’s done a great job with Alnwick and Hladky. Lyness has been brilliant cover too and Langfield looks like a good character to have around the place. Hopefully our Board and Tony can get the replacements right.
  9. Only thing I can think is that the board have been upset by the upheaval that Aberdeen have caused us and are trying to muck them about a bit. Brown surely can’t be a serious consideration. Whatever is going on, it’s an real amateur look from the club, if true.
  10. Is this actually genuine re Broonie? If so it’s a total embarrassment. Coach, assistant at a very big push, but potential manager is a complete joke. Can you imagine trying to convince the Saints faithful to get on board with it? I’ve been resigned and a bit down about losing Goodwin today, now I’m just getting pissed off with it all. The thought of approaching Scott Brown as his replacement is too much to stomach.
  11. Fek it. Gutted. Good luck Jim, but not against us and thanks for everything. Get Jack Ross in as soon as possible please.
  12. If you were an Aberdeen fan, would you prefer Goodie or Jack Ross? The Dons fans I’ve spoken to would prefer Jim, but they also like to wind me up about Saints. Will the reported £250k release clause for Goodie be a significant factor? I hope so, but doubt it. The general consensus seems to be that Jim is going to Aberdeen. The thought of this happening is a real sore one for us all, especially with us starting to look very tasty and settled, looking up the league rather than worrying about teams below us getting beat every week (although I still do that anyway). We don’t know for sure if he will be away so can cling on to the fact that he’s not away..,yet. He won’t be in a rush to leave what he’s built here, the team and relationship with the fans. Still think the money and his ‘ambition’ will swing it if he’s offered it unfortunately. Could also see him doing exactly what Jack Ross did and take some of our players next season, especially Alnwick. If he does go, I would be happy with a Jack Ross return. It wasn’t nice watching him come back to take our staff and players but he is a ruthless operator, so we would get that back on our corner. He did a brilliant job for St Mirren before earning his big moves to Sunderland and Hibs. He can only have developed as a manager too and knows our club already. I’m sure if he was successful at Paisley again, most doubters would come back onside with him pretty quickly. Problem is, I don’t have a clue if he’d fancy it or not. He’d inherit a great squad in a good position for the rest of the season but would he see it is as a step backwards? Could we afford him, possibly with Goodie’s release money? He could still end up being the Aberdeen manager after all of this torture… Hopefully we know where we are before the Livvy game, in which a win would be massive for us.
  13. My first thoughts too. Remember talking to John Nelms at a prize giving for my son’s footie team. It was when Dundee were being linked with Ross when he was with us. He let slip that he’d been talking with Ross (who was on his hols at the time). He was denying it in the press. He was a big fan of Ross and said he would love him at Dundee at some point. The plot thickens…
  14. If Goodwin is offered the Dons job he will go. He’ll probably triple his wages so it’s a no brainer. A few Buds talking up Aberdeen as being a good stepping stone to bigger jobs down south. To be fair, McInnes got a couple of offers when he was there that he didn’t take. Where is he now? I’m struggling to think of any of their managers going on to ‘bigger’ things unless you go back a very long way. Fergie, Billy McNeil? They have the 3rd biggest budget in Scotland and are expected to finish no worse than 3rd every season. The chairman comes across as a bit of a numpty too. If Goodie goes and makes an arse of it, he will get a decent payoff and eventually get a gig at a team similar to our size again. Whether he goes or not, it’s crap timing for us, even just the unsettling speculation. Can’t imagine any Saints fans or players not wanting him to stay. Suppose we know how Alloa fans feel. It’s all relative to club budgets. Not sure if Jack Ross would come back to us if Goodie goes.
  15. Not surprising, but still depressing to read. We are on the best run I can remember and the club/players are buzzing. My worry is the speculation about Goodie’s future will unsettle the squad, even if nothing comes of it all. He’s obviously highly thought of and an excellent man manager. If you think the Saints fans are fickle, you should experience the Dons fans. Lived up there for 5 years and still in touch with quite a few of them. They have very high expectations and some still live off the distant achievements of the Fergie phenomenon. Not quite Old Firm arrogance, but definitely see themselves as failing if they don’t finish 3rd. Tough gig for whoever takes on the job. It’s just bad timing that Glass has been canned when we are on this run, but unfortunately if we have a manager or players that do the business it’s impossible to hang on to them. Fingers crossed Jim doesn’t head up there because after a steep learning curve, he’s developing into a very good young manager (and he’s a Saints legend).
  16. Looks like the Dons have just sacked Glass. Hope they don’t come sniffing around Goodie. One of the few downsides about the great run we are on is that our manager’s profile rises.
  17. Rewind a couple of weeks ago with Brophy looking like he could be out for the season and we’ve got nothing upfront other than a young non league Kiwi lad. Still early days but Greive looks like a real find. Was great tonight and delighted to see him get the goal he deserved. These big hammer throwers at the back for the Fakes kicked and pulled him all over the park but he was relentless and caused them problems all night. Jones and Gogic were excellent too and Jones is still getting up to speed. Only negative is Alnwick struggling, looked like his groin. Fingers crossed he’s ok. Onwards and upwards. What a run Goodie and the boys are on. Great time to be a Buddie!!
  18. Loved wee Ronan’s goal today, robbed Doyle Hayes and laces through it before the keeper had time to set. Great finish. Doyle Hayes could learn a wee bit from Connor’s attitude. Just one of too many many positives to mention about our great victory today. Scotland turning over England at Murrayfield too; if Carlsberg did Saturdays…
  19. Yaaaassss!!! Great result. Well done Jim and the boys!!!
  20. Get it right up ye Doyle Hayes. What a finish from Ronan.
  21. Didn’t deserve to win but had it in the bag. Horrific from Tait who shouldn’t even have been on the park to be fair, but what was he thinking???. Huge 2 points dropped.
  22. Notts County changed from amber and black to black and white in 1890. Saints changed from blue and red to black and white in 1884, making St Mirren the first team to wear black and white stripes.
