  1. Was it not to also prevent strike action, due to the blackouts in the 1970s?
  2. So presumably it will not have shareholders then and will not pay dividends.
  3. Fair. I think the Killie home game is our best opportunity to win points. Prove me wrong, Saints! Let's see a return to that magnificent early season league campaign! 🙏
  4. I just realised this is in the General St Mirren Discussion forum! 🤣
  5. Don't a lot of pension funds invest in utility companies, given that they're relatively demand inelastic and guarantee a relatively stable yield? Paying lower dividends would potentially affect folks' pension increases. I know it's nice to think folk with private pensions are affluent, but that's not the case, necessarily.
  6. These are our next five games! 😬 I've said it before, but to reiterate, Aberdeen are in a false position and now their European campaign has ended they will start accumulating points. I really hope I'm wrong, but based on our current form I think we'll be lucky to get three points from these fixtures. Please tell me I'm being a pessimistic, miserable, bar steward!
  7. Adams' comments. Sorry, I thought that was clear. I was irritated by the person you commented; it was a perfectly good post which I will like now, if I haven't already done so.
  8. Received! What a handsome fella you are, too. 😲 I always imagined you to be a wee, bald yin.
  9. I left the ground thinking the Well fans were a credit to their club. They sang the whole game and really backed their team. There's nothing wrong with being passionate. I wonder whether a safer alternative to the flares could be found, like glow sticks? Vandalism and physical aggression is where the line is crossed. That is clearly unacceptable.
  10. Personally, I'm not overly bothered about the stickers. However, damaging seats is bampot behaviour.
  11. Stunningly ugly, perhaps. She's repulsive:
  12. Utter nonsense. We have five internationals. I know Baccus played at Wembley against England and also played against Argentina in the World Cup, where he acquitted himself well. How many English 4th tier teams can say that?
  13. Folk complaining about the game should consider the conditions! Unfortunately, it was never going to be a classic game of football with that wind.
  14. Indeed, I had done. You predicted a 2-0 win, but didn't indicate what your preference would be.
  15. I have never climbed the tower. It is a wonderful, iconic building and a testimony to the good people of Paisley's devotion to God. I'm surprised you visit, though...I thought you might spontaneously combust upon approaching the entrance. 😜 I totally agree with your opinion of the council building, but sadly such grotesque architecture is not unique to Paisley. We should consider ourselves lucky that we have buildings like the Abbey, Town Hall, Coats Memorial Church, the Observatory and even the Gas Works, which I (singularly, it would seem) also love. That makes sense. Stonemasons took their jobs very seriously. If you have ever visited Rosslyn Chapel, you might be familiar with the story behind the Apprentice Pillar. 😲 I'm glad to read that the foundations have been reinforced in that case.
  16. It will be a great weight off Motherwell fans' shoulders when they finally sack him today...
  17. What about the St. Mirren game? 🤔 I'd prefer Hearts to win at Parkhead, despite them vying with us for third place.
  18. Thanks for making me aware of that, both of you! I must have got confused, as I recall them finishing bottom of the league.
  19. I just don't like Motherwell supporters, they have this delusion that they're a "big team". Aye, OK, not all of them, but a fair %age. I think we're getting bigger gates than them now. However, unless I'm mistaken they have spent decades in the top-flight now - whereas Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen have all been relegated in that time.
  20. I'm a big fan of Douglas Murray. However, the old adage 'one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter' comes to mind. Michael Collins was considered a terrorist, as was Nelson Mandela. In that respect I can sympathise with the two Muslim gentlemen who feel that the West is hypocritical in considering Hamas to be terrorists for allegedly killing ~1,200 people whereas Israel has killed multiple times that number and is not condemned. I will add that I am not a fan of Hamas or Islam, but I can see their point.
  21. Didn't we get the St. Johnstone manager the sack after we pumped them 4-0? Kettlewell's coat's hanging on a shoogly peg and I think that suits us well. An early goal against this mob and we could well skelp them. That lad Biereth is a threat, though.
  22. I had exactly the same thought! Slightly disconcerting.
