  1. Definite "collectors editions" for the Darvel faithful.
  2. I don't get the "snake" comments regarding Jim simply because he left us to go to a bigger club and therefore a better paid job. There must be a lot of football supporters who have only ever worked for one company and at the same level all of their lives! Anyone capable of moving up in their career and earning more money than they currently do would do so surely?
  3. I hope Jim is alive and kicking and I've not missed something...
  4. I noticed that Southampton use "The Saints Are Coming" as well to rouse the crowd before the teams come out of the tunnel. I know they're "the Saints" too.
  5. When we moved to the new stadium, I thought Stewart Gilmour saying that the board thought it was best sticking with "St. Mirren Park" because the previous stadium had officially been called the same and loads of people had grown up with St. Mirren Park and now new generations would grow up with "St. Mirren Park" was spot on. My parents, my Granny and Auntie always referred to the old ground as "Love Street", indeed my Mum still says "we're playing at Love Street this Saturday." I fell into calling the old ground "Love Street" because they did but I knew it was officially "St. Mirren Park" and I actually understand and respect what St. Lucifer said about walking along Love Street to get to the Stadium but then entering "St. Mirren Park". I think Shull's "Westmarch" idea is a great one. I actually asked my Dad if they would name the stadium Westmarch when we were moving. I read on a plaque just inside the door that ground opposite the new stadium (Ferguslie Park Avenue I think? I can't remember exactly) was where Westmarch actually was. Over to Shull, BillyG or someone else to confirm that one. I'm not a big fan of stadiums being named after a sponsor. Newcastle United's St. James' Park being called the Sports Direct Arena was like rag to a bull as far as the locals were concerned! If it brought the club much needed funds, fair enough but I'd still call it "St. Mirren Park", my Mum would still call it "Love Street" and loads of others would probably do likewise.
  6. Cowardly Cockles1987 comes to the rescue of Faraway Ranger again! The only presence of "other identities" that I feel are that of you, Faraway Ranger and Slarti behind me as you all fail to keep up with me!
  7. Not content with looking up who has given each other "likes", you're now looking up what words each forum user has used?! You really don't have much going on in your life do you?
  8. Do you like teams that play in blue?
  9. Make up your mind! As for you catching people "on the hook", that's a laugh! You're permanently on Antrin's hook! You're easier to catch than salmon!
  10. So Antrin has an allotment and you and Faraway Ranger have a locked ward?
  11. Until I read your post I'd forgotten all about the Scottish Cup Final that was held in December! I had to look it up up remind myself of it. Alas, it was a Green Meanies Vermin victory.
  12. I forgot about that penalty, Hamlet. You're right, let's boo the bassa!
  13. I'm not a big fan of "Colt" or "B" Teams. I appreciate that the younger players need to play in competitive matches in order to grow as players but my worry would be the Blue lot and Green lot would hoover up even more talent from the other teams and their justification for doing this would be they could play in the colts/b-teams. I don't see the issue in teams giving their youngsters a chance to play competitive football by simply loaning them out to another team whether that's in the same league, a league below or in the Juniors.
  14. Indeed! If we want to win the cup competitions then the chances are we will probably always have to face the Green Meanies and the Blue Meanies at some stage of the competition so why not face them in the next round and win? I don't fancy our chances against them nine times out of ten but it's the cup so let's give it our best shot.
  15. Lawrence Shankland scores a beauty of a goal for Heart of Midlothian against Hibernian. To think a lot of our supporters branded him "shite"! Yes, he was a bit "raw" while on loan with us but you could tell there was a player in there. His second spell with us he was a bit heavier or more bulky but he was still a decent player.
  16. The layout would be very apt for the French National Team.
  17. A superb community effort indeed! Stories like this are what football is all about. Teams being supported by their locals and helping out where possible. When I've been to support Saints at places such as Alloa, Arbroath, Brechin City, Stenhousemuir, Lothian Thistle Hutchinson Vale, you can feel the community spirit of their locals and the Club Staff from the Board Members right down to the programme seller's.
  18. Are they tight-fitting like Joma shirts or more loose-fitting?
  19. I've been a fan of him so far but today, like most of the team, he simply wasn't up to it. A very poor display after he and others have shown what they've been capable of previously. Today might have brought his value down a little.
  20. Trevor Carson was great at the Penalty Kick Shootout though. Great goalkeeper.
