  1. I have paid good money over the years to see some really shitty gigs. Van Morrison and Lou Reed are two performers I really admire but 'live' they were dire as both were out their box. I wouldnt waste money going to see Van the Man ever again as he was out his face every time I have seen him. I also have little time for a Greatest Hits set as if played by numbers and not that much different from the recorded version that I could sit in the house and play and save myself £60. I love to hear passion and a different take on a known song that makes the live experience unique with no two gigs the same. Neil fits the bill every time.
  2. Neil Young and Crazy Horse were f**kin AMAZING last week. Seen him many times but last week was the best I have ever witnessed. The King of Grunge is alive and well. Long live the King! And I have to disagree with Poz. Neil was out to enjoy himslef and not deliver a Greatest Hits list. Every version of every song last week was played in Crazy Horse's ad-hoc style making every track a unique experience. Absolutely fantastic. Close this thread. Neil Young is the gig of the year.
  3. I did come across some internal photos of young folk doing 'refurbishment and worshipping' at Stanely House but there was no further info. Thanks Lethal89
  4. PICTURE 127 is Stanely House, off Stanely Crescent at Stanely Dam. B Listed. Villa built in the Late 1800s. And that is all I can find out about it! If anyone has any more information about its history then please share
  5. Maybe. But according to that article the boys were on £85 a week. If he is now being offered £120 a week surely that is a good increase?
  6. However as I understand it the Club have offered Smith a new contract and its him that is refusing it so it doesnt appear to me to be sour grapes on Longwell's part.
  7. A student gets less than £120 a week and Jack is still studying .....
  8. If it was the 1st August I may be a we bit concerned about our squad but its still May! The transfer window doesnt even open until the 1st July!
  9. Its going to be one hell of a long summer........
  10. Sorry Insaintee The Town Hall was Picture 100 ..... ....and Sma Shot was PICTURE 67. I am only featuring individual buildings once. From your previous postings I reckon you would probably know this one.....(somewhere in the dark recesses of your mind)
  11. I was entered at the last minute for a hurdles event for Camphill at some inter-schools thing at Seedhill. I had never even seen a hurdle before and received 2 mins training. Think I was last .
  12. Image 126 was originally the Paisley Grammar School Penilee Sports Pavillion. Penilee Road. A Listed. Art Deco. Constructed in 1937. Architect H Cook. Now the Ralston Community Sports Centre. I just love this building but had been totally unaware of it until recently. Not been inside but from the outside its like going back in time. Beautiful building. (And yes, it is in Paisley!).
  13. Imrie has scored as many League goals (3) as McLean in less games played.
  14. Sorry for the gaps in posting guys. Just very busy just now. Here is the CLUE for PICTURE 126. Reckon you either know it or dont know it - dont think there is much room for guesswork with this one
  15. PICTURE 125 is of course the 'Paisley Grammar School and William B. Barbour Academy', situated in Glasgow Rd. B Listed. Architect the great TG (I think it was only ma hoose that the great man didn't design in Paisley). The school building (which was called due to a bequest by the former Member of Parliament for Paisley, William B. Barbour,) was opened in 1898 by Lord Balfour of Burleigh, then Secretary of State for Scotland. The school was fee paying until the mid-1960s and in 1986, when threatened with imminent closure by Strathclyde Regional Council, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher intervened personally to ensure the survival of the school. The law was changed so that local councils could no longer close schools which were more than 80% full without approval by the Secretary of State for Scotland. Infamous former pupils include Fred Goodwin, Andrew Neil and Dr Who (David Tennant).
  16. Never been in this building Insaintee but I know many who have. (And my house is a different colour and a wee bit smaller that this one - just).
  17. Sorry. Been busy over Easter. PICTURE 124 is the Seedhill Gatehouse or West Gatehouse for the Anchor Mills. B Listed. Built in 1909. Architect unknown to me. Was recently the Office (?) of the Abbey Mill Business Centre. Unsure of its current use. Some good images of it here .... http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/search_item/index.php?service=RCAHMS&id=198846&image_id=SC1290945
  18. On P&B a lot of the Fakes' fans would love to see May being given a chance. Maybe he is one to look at a bit closer.
  19. Paisley is full of public clocks but nobody looks up anymore to check the time as everyone owns about 20 watches each
