  1. Sid - there are two sides to every story, and If I was to go public with the PM not only would I put 2 friends of mine in legal situation that they don't wish to pursue, I would also in effect put your beloved BoD member in the same position. I'm not prepared to do that, so just leave it. Questioning my honesty ? Watch the legals old bhoy. I would be more concerned as to why back in June your home address was e-mailed to me by another forum user. I must stress that I'd not asked for it - I'm happily married. Not my scene, and of no concern to me, but its not hard to imagine that whoever you are upsetting to THAT degree, is possibly a bit loopy. I may have stayed sensible, you just don't know what kind of fruitcakes lurk on t'internet. You are noising up a lot of people on here Sid - don't go too far. It's only a game. ETA Just want to get back on topic please.....
  2. Databases: SMFC ST holders B&W Mag subscriber list Print/track side advertising list BGB members now in their early 20s Get them mailed ! If "no stone is left unturned" in regards to promoting the CIC concept, then this has to be a good thing, and can certainly answer more than a few critics. Me included, who was too old for the BGB, despite being unable to take solid foods on Saturday mornings for most of the 90s. PS I've been a critic, but the digs at REAs personal beliefs are a complete embarressment. I may not agree with all that the guy says/does, but I've always thought that SMFC had no favour to any particular faith Such an easy target to focus on, and not what I thought we were all about. Jim McLean (arguably the 3rd best Scottish manager - behind Stein & Ferguson) was a devout, hard-faced "wee free" Christian. Didn't exactly alienate the DUFC support during an era of success for them, that should still be the "benchmark target" for all provincial teams.
  3. In broad terms, life's too short. Might as well give it a go, and get involved if it passes through. If it goes t*ts up, at least we as a support could say "well we tried". Stories abound about an "un-named " potential buyer who wants it to go through as he thinks it will be a disaster, and as a consequence could pick the club up for a lot less than is required now. If true, then that is a shocking attitude. The msot important thing is the club, and if the CIC is going to happen, then let the fans be involved in as large numbers as possible. I'm interested to see how the management structure is to be set-up. Running a SPl side by committee/by committee is a bit worrying. Get some "Aber-style management"* on board ASAP. *Hard...but fair
  4. Hear hear m'learned friend for Elderslie It's been clear for a while now that the CIC bid depended upon external financing, not really the backing of the fans per se. REA was good enough to PM me on this issue, and the "300" watermark for supporter backing wasn't his idea, but from those who underwrite the finance for such a deal. That said, my ongoing concern was that whilst the CIC is undoubtedly a fresh & exciting concept for football club ownership, and involving the wider community, the whole thing seems to have brought out the lunatic fringe elements, and from my business experience this is not what you need to be on the board of any business outside of drug trafficing/extorsion/loan sharking. I've also been concerned that the current Commercial Dept of St.Mirren FC seem to be making a right old fist of running a club shop/merchandising operation. Combining those two factors, its fair enough to feel a wee bit uneasy about what the future may hold in regards to who is running the club/the principle shareholding company of the club. I've got to say that I've been disappointed at the lack of real tangible effort to communicate the CIC concept to the SMFC support outside of this site: there are several databases that could be used, but I'm not aware that they have been. I really hope that this is simply "on the back burner" once it was evident that the 300 mark would be passed. We need as many Saints fans as possible involved in this. The finance (ex-SMISA) from the fans is the minority party, and this is slightly worrying. We need to take this opportunity at full face value, and subscribe in large numbers: hopefully a membership scheme similar to ground admission (ie. OAP / Kids / Family concessions) could be implemented ASAP. It's all very well to sit on the sidelines and say "F*cking laundrettes !", you might as well get involved......and this is from someone who has been quite cynical about the whole affair.
  5. No worries. Drummer is very good (ex-Ride drummer I think), and they sounded good.....which was suprising when I saw the nick of William

  7. Probably worth reading this article.... The internet and football is an unpleasant combination I'm not doing myself any favours here, so apologies to all. I'll head off to GN for eternity....
  8. : : Have a green (bhigot) dot Sid ! Diddums isn't feeling bullied at all, but cheered up by the growing number of fannyslabberers like me who have basically had their fill of you. Please keep up your standards - it gets better every day. I was killing time waiting for my appointment by looking at the forum on my laptop. Lawyer had a look, and piped up that growing internet/online cases are a real goldmine for the legal profession these days. He then asked about any rules the forum had so I showed him, and he then made some acute observations.......but the meter was already running, so that was the end of that The guy's rates are almost as high as Dargo's, but at least he gets results. He did say the forum was miles better than Citeh's - money cannot buy everything ! Serious point: I think that you ought to watch a wee bit of your output Sid, if only for the good of the site. "IF" that chap was right in his initial impression, then poor old Div could be left wide open by some of your more colourful attacks. As for the fabled PM: I think you'll find it was all factual if you go and ask ALL the parties fannyslabber out.
  9. At £225/hour I wasn't letting him develop the theme, when I was actually there to let him loose on a French c*nt who needs sorting out, and is much more of a pain in the arse than Sid (amazing as that may sound).
  10. Edited highlights from the "Forum Rules" section of the site..... We will not tolerate unacceptable personal abuse of fellow supporters. The moderaitng team WILL issue warnings to posters who we feel are engaging in abuse that is deemed to be personal or OTT. Similarly we will not tolerate bullying, racist or sectarian abuse - these will also be offences which can result in bannings or warnings. Warnings will be issued on a 5 strikes and out basis, although the moderators reserve the right to indefinitely ban or suspend a membership of the forum if we think it is in the best interests of the site. There is little point in having a board where open discussion is surrounded by constant drivel so posters who continually attempt to spoil discussion threds will also be warned and eventually removed from the board if this persists. Couldn't put it better myself......but practice what you preach chaps: Yesterday I was showing the forum on my laptop to my company lawyer (big fitba' fan in MCR, and partner in a firm that represents people such as the Toures @ Citeh). He "joked" that without looking at it in too much detail, the "Forum Rules" pinned notice is setting up the site for a fall..... Should anyone start getting endless grief from a poster that persistently infringes the rules set out above (and more relevantly common UK law regarding this sort of thing), and there is no evidence that attempts have been made by the Mods to clamp down on this person........then the site is probably open to be sued. I cannae recall the exact terminology, but words like "negligence" were used. He did state that he would need to look at it in more detail, but @ £225/hour I preferred that he concentrated on my business affairs ! Therefore, in the style of a TV advert: "Fancy a new car..... new kitchen.......expensive holiday abroad ........then just let Sid carry on as he does, because you too can get that dream trip to the Maldives by suing bawarmy.com"
  11. NO ! NOOOOOOOOOOO ! This will not be tolerated. Good post. Where does my group stand in St.Sid's "flush out" ? "D/D sent off - but still have major misgivings - although would rather be involved than frozen out as it seems inevitable that the CIC will go through as nobody in their right mind will pay £2m for SMFC as a part of a traditional club buy-out - and anyway SG will never sell to anyone dodgy" Probabaly stoned to death by Ayatollah Sid's hardline CIC funda-mental-ists. Praise be to Allah/Richard !
  12. 1000 lines boy "I must read what posters say before replying" My posts today were: *Non-critical of the CIC, and basically saying that time factors shouldn't concern anyone other than the current BoD and the CIC folks. *I also said that Yul's arguments were getting thinner & thinner *And I also believe every word SG says when he reiterates that he won't sell to anyone who would endanger St.Miirren FC. Therefore, by definition, if the CIC bid fails, he won't sell the club to any old Massone. Of course, its so easy to interpret the above as being a pro-Yul/Evans propaganda
  13. There's very little point in debating the issues with you Sid, as everything gets blown out of proportion: I said that if the CIC bid takes a while longer then so be it. This is actually a bit similar to a post you made just previously......but when I say it, it "is underplaying the risk" and "scaremongering". "Not bad shape" is just a modest way of describing our lack of debt, and excellent facilities on and off the pitch, all of which I think has been recognised as serious progression for the club. Are St.Mirren on the verge of shutting ? No. No need for knee-jerk panic if the CIC bid hits the rocks. Why ? Of course there are Brearley's about in abundance, but SG has repeatedly said he would only sell to those who had the best interests of St.Mirren FC. If the CIC bid fails due to external funding issues, then I'm sure SG & Co wouldn't fling SMFC to the nearest Massone-type character, as this would be against everything that has been assured to the supporters thus far.
  14. "Missing deadlines" doesn't bother me Sid - I'm not part of the selling consortium ! Serious point - what I meant was look at the overall structure of SMFC today, then look at most of the car crash that is the SPL finances. We are not in bad shape at all, hence the "no need to panic" post. If the CIC takes longer to come together then so be it. Likewise, if it doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world. These are different times to when Mr.Brearley was doing the rounds, and the noise of Bulldozers & JCBs revving their engines in anticipation could be heard for miles around Love St .
  15. Excellent post. I don't think the lack of support from SMFC fans is the problem. 700+ pledges without much of an attempt to publicise the CIC bid through the clubs main databases would indicate a decent level of support. Beyond that I know very little FACTS, other than the rumour-mill that is growing, probably stoked-up by the mainstream media being used (Evans, Young). It's been said that this forum was "used" to get the CIC agenda onside with the fans. To that end it's inevitable that opponents would use the other media options open to them. Whatever the outcome, let's not forget that the club is actually in comparatively good shape within the context of Scottish football, so no need for panic if the CIC bid fails. PS Sid - if Yul is a club insider / politician, then he is well out of order. If he's just another fan, then he's entitled to his opinion. I've seen many more abusive posters on here than Yul, although his arguments/western waffle content is getting thinner than Ally McCoist's transfer kitty.
  16. I don't agree with everything/most of what Yul says, but its no different to those using an alias and posting in favour of the CIC. As people keep pointing out, this is what a forum, especially an independent one, is meant to be about. I don't recall him making slanderous attacks on people in the CIC bid as has been used by other posters on this thread, so why the heaps of abuse ? Just because he holds an opposing view ? This forum is recognised as being the only public arena to debate the pros/cons of the bid, so its hardly surprising that someone who is against the bid should come on using an alias and start posting. No crime there. Can't say I get angry when I see his posts - indeed, the cod-Western stylee is quite amusing. I hope he sticks around the forum long enough to post on other topics in this fashion. If not, then he's a goddam varmint and sheep rustler. And a sh*te actor
  17. Wether or not it goes through, can we just leave Fitzy out of this. He doesn't deserve his legend status to be tarnished by his position in/out of favour with the CIC. He's kept a silent position, and that is his right. Doesn't make him a "baddy" Yul
  18. William Reid now seems to be a cross-breed of Derek Johnstone and Syd Barrett. Top tune though.....
  19. Saw them 6 times in the 80s. Strangely - this is one of my fave tracks...
  20. .....whereas these guys WERE the greatest (at least in 1987...apart from 13 others plus Smith'n'Bone )
  21. I always liked these guys. Not the greatest, but good fun....
