  1. If Adam Campbell ever googles himself he's in for an ego boost anyway when he spots a 23 page thread about his substitute appearance in a friendly against St Mirren
  2. Good to hear Mclean played 90 mins, I thought he would be out for longer.
  3. Campbell is nowhere near England U21s level and if he was then we wouldn't get a sniff at him, just look at the score last night against Scotlands best young players. They have guys like Sterling and Shelvey who are on 20-30 grand a week, our young guys will get that in a year. Feel a bit sorry for Thomas Reilly in all this, the guy seems to be a natural goalscorer and has coped fairly well making the (big) jump from U20s to SPL level. Yes we need at least 1 more striker in but give the kid a chance.
  4. Think you are missing the point. Every other team is ready to go with 0 games played and we are unlikely to be ready before the end of the transfer window comes round and we are already 4 or 5 games into the season.
  5. True, depends if who we're bringing in is meant as backup or not.
  6. A defeat here would really be unthinkable even this early in the season especially if Hearts win, 0 points from 3 games (granted we have still to play Celtic but I'll assume that is a loss). Think we'll get at least a draw and could even snatch the win, Killie don't look great this season. 2-1 - Thompson, Mcgowan, Boyd
  7. Someone in the Thompson mould? We already have the original we don't need a copy.. get us someone in the speedy dangerous mould.
  8. He's taken the accusations hard.. He's all shook up.
  9. BBC Sport just had a headline about Gareth Bale not likely to play in the friendly against Scotland on Wednesday. Very unlikely I would say!
  10. Next games only 5 days away, would of loved to get him but if it's not happening then lets move on and get someone else.
  11. Carlisle are in league 1, have there been any Championship sides in for him? Wouldn't blame him for going there if there was but I think he's better of playing every week in the SPL than being a sub in league 1.
  12. Thought I'd volunteer to switch and have a go in the team of 7 but that went out the window when David couldn't play on. Tight game thought think it was 6-4 or maybe 6-5 in the end? I'll be back in the bibs team next time.. enjoyed my spell for the bibless but their Danny Lennon copyrighted passing game doesn't suit me I'm far too much of a greedy bastard!
  13. Of course, just meant if we can't get anyone from standby on short notice.
  14. I'll be able to get a couple of players if needed, non saints fans though
  15. Aye but we'll have the Champions League money to look forward to next year and 5 million quid for Mcgowan and Mclean in january
  16. Get him in the boot of your car on the way up the M74 Newton!
  17. I wonder if we have any sort of backup plan if we don't get Campbell. Only 3 weeks till the transfer window shuts and not many quality strikers still looking for a club/loan.
  18. Well thats a start! Would make sense having them both here from Newcastles point of view surely. Easier for Campbell to settle in when he knows someone who knows the squad and the town already.
  19. Newton signed? Where did you hear that?
  20. Much needed win for the bibs this week after last weeks embaressing thumping against 7-man bibless
  21. It's bad when we are relying on getting an 18 year old in on loan a week into the season and not even for backup.
  22. That's why I said alleged, people always talk about it but wether there is anything official or not I don't know.
  23. If it's down to Campbell to choose surely stories of Dummet and Newton partying all week in Paisley as heroes will sell him on the real Saints.
  24. If he goes to St Johnstone then there's got to be some serious questions asked about this alleged 'affiliation' with Newcastle and the bargaining skills of DL and the board (or whoever deals with getting loanees in). St Johnstone are a team of equal stature to us playing in the same league, the only advantage you could see is that they may qualify for the Europa League. If the fact that Dummet and Newton did so well here and had so many good things to say about the club doesn't help us get other young Newcastle players in then there's really not an affiliation.
