Did you know that "Dundee" is slang for idiot in Nigeria. "Dundee United" being the plural It apparently came about when a newly appointed coach of the club, one Jim McLean, took his team to Nigeria and embarrassingly lost 4-1 to a local amateur football team called Stationary Stores FC. When Dundee Utd. left the country there was a headline in one of the newspapers which simply read, "DON'T COME BACK"!! A legacy I'm sure Mr. McLean would rather not have had associated with himself.
