The man who got attacked in Belfast — a vulnerable adult who never saw it coming.
VULNERABLE ADULT ATTACKED ON HIS OWN DOORSTEP
This is Stephen Ogilvie, 44, originally from Scotland. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition today, Wednesday 10 June, after being attacked outside his home on Kinnaird Avenue, North Belfast, shortly after 10:30pm on Monday 8 June.
Neighbours describe him:
✅ He is hard of hearing / deaf in one ear — could not hear anyone approaching from behind
✅ Lives alone, keeps to himself, and never causes trouble
✅ Gentle by nature — would never fight back or confront anyone
✅ Attacked in the one place he should feel safe — his own front door
This was sudden and completely unprovoked. There is no information to suggest the attacker knew anything about him or his situation beforehand.

📍 Location: Kinnaird Avenue, North Belfast
🩹 Injuries: Severe wounds to his eye, face, neck and back
🔪 Weapon: A kitchen knife was recovered from the scene
👮 Police update: A 30-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a bladed article, and threats to kill. He appears in court today, Wednesday
💪 Bystanders: Members of the public stepped in quickly to stop the attack and help until emergency services arrived
