The Lionesses and Welsh Ladies Thread Euros 2025
faraway saint replied to shull's topic in Other Football
The Welsh goalie. 🤣🤣🤣 -
So Friday is men's semi finals day. Alcaraz v Fritz and Sinner v Djokovic. I'm the last few days we've seen two touches of true sportsmanship from tennis players while under severe pressure. Sinner, looking like he was heading home, was first to go to Dimitrov when he fell to the ground with a serious injury. Djokovics opponent, Cobolli, also showed concern after a nasty looking fall. Class, you either have it or you don't. @HSS, what's your preference for the final?
-
You are entitled to your opinion. Spouting it over the Internet is, well, unnecessary and shows your level, which has been on here many times. I'm sure your family are proud of you.
-
Classy as ever.
-
So, things are changing by the day. Sinner got out of jail last night when he was looking like he was heading out but his opponent had to retire with a serious injury. Sinner himself wasn't fully fit, carrying an elbow injury. We'll see how he is tomorrow. Meanwhile Alcaraz has slowly shifted up a gear, just pumped Norrie easily in three sets.

Unfortunately the fanzone is a "nogo" for us on Saturday. A pity, I'd have had a wee hour or so out in the sunshine ☀️ before disappearing into hospitality lounge. -

TBH mate I'm unsure if our hospitality gets us access to this fanzone trial. I've emailed the club asking if we can get in, would be quite good to soak up the atmosphere if the weather's as good as forecast. -

𝐀𝐫𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐂 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 Arbroath FC can confirm that our upcoming home fixtures on Saturday 12 July 2025 (vs St Mirren, kick-off 3:00pm) and Tuesday 22 July 2025 (vs Annan Athletic, kick-off 7:45pm) in the Premier Sports Cup, have been granted a licence by Angus Council for the controlled sale of alcohol at the match. As part of this initiative, various alcoholic beverages and soft drinks will be available for purchase within our designated 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞 area at Gayfield Park from: • 𝟏𝟏𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝟐:𝟒𝟓𝐩𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 on 12th July • 𝟒𝐩𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝟕:𝟑𝟎𝐩𝐦, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 on 22nd of July Please note, our 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐙𝐨𝐧𝐞 for this pilot will be operating the 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝟐𝟓 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲, and will be available to 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲. These sales will be managed in full accordance with licensing regulations, with appropriate security and stewarding measures in place. The aim of the initiative is to explore how a managed approach to alcohol sales can contribute to a positive and safe matchday experience. We’d like to remind supporters that alcohol may only be consumed within clearly designated areas and not in sight of the pitch, and all activity will be confined to clearly designated and monitored areas. Regular matchday safety protocols remain unchanged. We hope this will add to the enjoyment of the matchday experience for supporters and we appreciate your cooperation and support as we participate in this limited trial. #ArbroathFCLive #MonTheLichties #Resurgence -
I'll look out for you getting huckled. 😂

Arbroath v St Mirren, Sat 12th Aug

Well, at last this game is within sight, can't wait. Arbroath have lost to Dundee and drawn with Dundee Utd in the last couple of friendlies. There was almost 2,400 in attendance against United, hoping Saturday will top that. The weather's supposed to be more than reasonable so no need for too many layers. -
@HSS, when you heading down, it's forecast to be roasting?

This is exactly what is needed, the people who run each countries football leagues speaking out against this nonsense. La Liga president Javier Tebas has once again voiced his fierce opposition to FIFA's expanded Club World Cup, vowing to fight the tournament’s existence at all costs. Speaking during a recent conference, Tebas stated: **“I will do everything in my power to make sure the Club World Cup will never take place again.”** The 32-team tournament, set to occur every four years, has been a point of contention since its announcement. FIFA has allocated over \$3 billion to fund the competition, guaranteeing a minimum of \$15 million for each participating club — a financial incentive that has led top clubs around the world to embrace the idea, even at the cost of their summer breaks. Despite the global enthusiasm, Tebas remains firmly against the tournament, viewing it as a threat to domestic football calendars and the physical well-being of players. This year, **Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid** represented La Liga in the competition, though Tebas remains undeterred in his stance. Unless he manages to overturn FIFA’s plans, the next Club World Cup is scheduled for **2029** , but the battle between La Liga and world football’s governing body may only just be heating up.

Alcaraz up next for Norrie. Hard to see Norrie getting much as Alcaraz, like most Slam Wiibers, always seems to find a way.
-
At the end of week one there is, indeed, only one Brit remaining, do I win a prize? Its not Draper but Norrie, just, makes it through to the quarter final. His opponent battered down an astounding 46 aces.
-
The falls over onto a big hairy guys lap. 😝 😂😂😂
-
Wait till next week, a ball gets scudded into the the crowd and hits a wee Scottish guy right on the foreheid knocking his specs right off. 🍓🎾🏴
-
Wee Emma out but she was against the world No1. She played very well, in both sets she managed to break Sabalenka but couldn't hold the lead to get over the line to take a set. No disgrace, hope she keeps it up as its been a very poor period since she won the US Open.
-
My predictions haven't been great so far but, IMO, Sinner will win this as Alcaraz hasn't been at the level required to beat him, although he has it in him to go up a gear or two. He'll need to, Sinner is a machine.
-
Well blow me down, Norrie also through to the 4th round. I've never taken to Norrie, even when he was at his best around 3 years ago he left me cold, nothing about him as a player or person. Two thru, wee Emma to play later.
