  1. Quite useless, uninformative couple of links. Who did what? Where is the terrorism. stick to counting aeroplanes.
  2. Fair enough. Don’t bother reconsidering.
  3. The success of any country’s economy underpins the length and quality of that life. it really should be of “concern”. THAT is what underpins the whole debate about - when does lockdown end. A balance MUST be struck. i think you chucked in that line, thoughtlessly... and might reconsider...
  4. I only ever consider extra virgin Olive Oil...
  5. Being tall would be an asset with some...
  6. Just found this about Lanzarote hotels. mostly staying closed in July... https://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/articulo/economia/algunos-grandes-hoteles-lanzarote-reabriran-puertas-julio-seran-minoria/20200618173443151705.html (There’s usually a translation option on that site...)
  7. I was backing up your assertion that Ricky only posts Pointlessly on pointless threads. You two are made for each other, Single-minded, birds of a feather, bosom buddies... (my apologies, Ricky. I know you’re not THAT daft. )
  8. I booked yesterday for Lanzarote in November. everything as normal, it appears... though I’m sure there will be changes to buffet dining and (hopefully) on the flights... Reading local Lanzarote news, it appears that the “good intentions” of the Canaries to ensure only cv-free people are allowed onto planes, is trumped by EU rules. also... the islands economies are so dependent on tourism and there is a clamour for opening up. (About a month ago, the Subaqua Underwater “Museum”, off the coast of Playa Blanca Went bust. https://underwatermuseumlanzarote.com/en/ It had only had an average of 20+ punters a day, so unsurprising. I never got round to doing that.... )
  9. To be fair, you should have expected that. This IS a VERY pointless thread. people who don’t actually go to football matches typing in things about televised foreign football matches shown on some TVs, but none of the matches featuring St Mirren - the football club upon which the Whole forum is based. (There’s Other Football... and then there’s THIS shite.)
  10. Wikipedia is my friend. AlexStuart. Really nice guy. Full back for Dundee clubs. In 1975, Alex took over from Ally McLeod as Ayr’s manager, when Ally went to manage some country or other... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Stuart_(footballer) in 1978, Alex went to manage fake Saints. (He’s an east-coaster: there’s none of us perfect, they say...).
  11. Excellent whataboutery, fs... ...but you KNOW they are correct.
  12. Great shame. certainly one of the best posters on here. i missed whatever spat that was...
  13. I’m in that... after the Iran match. At the time, I was briefly gutted after the Dutch game. Soon got over it and enjoyed the rest of the tournament, even supported Holland in the final. (Cos they were European - my home... even though it’d hoped our hosts the Argies would win it until that day...) Worst bit of the whole experience was when Ayr United’s manager at the time, (can’t recall his name now) told me that, back in Scotland, St Mirren had sacked Fergie! THEN, I was really gutted. I’ve got over that too, now.
  14. It’s time ye let that go, Buddie.... Root it oot. Rutebaga...
  15. Not shame - f**kin irony!!!
  16. No, that's simply trolling - posting without adding anything. We can all do that. You have a certain panache, though...
  17. I had upticked as I thought it was funny. So I responded.
  18. “Pragmatism”. the very word, Ricky. When there’s a confusion of experts and a cabal of conflicting governments you must tread your own cautious route through the undergrowth. An amusing moment yesterday... listening to a webinar with employment lawyers discussing cv19, end of furloughs, government announcements etc... listeners wanted to know how to legitimately handle the ever changing and conflicting govt, HMRC and local pronouncements. (Many people have had idle hands and downtime but not the lawyers.) Government announces on Friday something will open on Monday, chaos ensues! Monday... HMRC Suggest different rules... lawyers working all weekend (and nights) to ensure things are done right. the latest is on The Flexible Furlough Scheme. Which lawyers are happily calling... FFS!
  19. I think you are doing the sensible, practical, personal thing - as should anyone who feels at all threatened by the virus. My cousin and her man have been self-isolating since early March and will not rush out to socialise, soon, nor invite the world back home for a bevvy. Younger generations have little to fear from it. And, if you’re not in a threatened category, then lockdown really is pretty unnecessary, unless there’s someone at home who is. By taking personal responsibility for their health, the majority will continue to stay safe. The govt pfaffing about, with the lifting the date of restrictions For businesses, makes working towards reopening for business untenable for cash-strapped companies. They have to prepare - and that means more losses to them, especially if the goalposts get shifted.
  20. But less fishy and slightly more turnippy?
  21. I think it might be slightly more complicated than that. People are unsure WHICH f**k to give since Dom Cum did his Durham dander... Also... If people can't access a test ... anywhere or at any price... If people can't access a test, which can tell them accurately and reliably if they have CV19 or not... If people can't access a test, which can tell them accurately if they have had CV19 or not... and whether they are now considered safe in that they can no longer pass it on... If we have no way of truly knowing anything in regard to the virus...then it's more like the Government (which is highly paid to ensure its citizens are kept safe) has failed and is/has been inadequate at doing its job. I wrote an email to a friend just after Ne'erday in which I explained that I'd been out of it for that week or so: "a flu maybe, but very unusual...no head cold no runny nose, like nothing I've ever experienced before. Gone now, I think". Now that MAY have been it. I have no way of finding out. There are countless people like me who had cv19 type symptoms all the way through the build-up to lockdown. I was in socialising in town and in pubs until the final night it was all shut up. I have been to local pubs, since. Life must go on. I am unkeen on catching CV19, nor would I wish to inflict it on a friend, but I think lockdown has been literally 'overkill' with most deaths being "recorded" in hospitals or in Care Homes. And the massive numbers of deaths are not the fault of the British Pubic which has been amazingly and admirably tolerant and understanding of the restrictions imposed on them - it is all down to inaction and wrong, belated decision making by the government and its advisors. No doubt, they would certainly like to blame the people... Now, I understood that there was a possibility of the NHS being overwhelmed so I could rationalise the original lockdown for that reason, but no longer. The NHS has withstood the worst of the wave. CV19 is now killing people just like any bad flu season. Those most susceptible to it have already been badly impacted. Older people locked down have succumbed in greater numbers to thrombosis due to lack of exercise; treatment of other heart conditions and cancers have been neglected; dementia patients have died in their thousands due to being isolated and (they would believe) abandoned by the few people they recognised and who loved them; Mental Health problems have been exacerbated in many (so I am reading); Schoolkids have had their education badly damaged and derailed. Millions have lost their income and security. All that has to be Included in any debate about what next and WHEN... not just blaming people who merely seek some sort of normal life. Life should be about freedom to do as you want when you want - after calculating risks and knowing what is acceptable to you, without harming other people. We can't cower in the CV19 shadows till a vaccine comes along. Being without work due to this virus, my cellphone sits in a cupboard. Track and Trace would find folk like me tricky to contact, track or trace. Also I wouldn't trust a private firm (given the contract to T+T by sources in this government) with access to my cell's details/contacts. I'd even trust Apple and Google more than them! That's not selfishness. I don't want that technology in my life. There has to be a more human way. (There was, see Salisbury's Novichock murders, but this govt has ignored that.)
