  1. It depends what you believe. Corbyn was all for abolishing zero-hour contracts. Employees who have been with a company for years should have a proper contract, not a shitty zero hours one that can screw them over without warning. Frozen for ten years is good going tbf. Cornwall does have a “Very High” Council Tax figure already according to this table. I’m not sure how Scottish councils compare.
  2. Here is the evidence you need the next time this “once in a generation” pish comes up.
  3. Zero hour contracts have become the norm because of the Tories. Places like JD Wetherspoon have used them on employees for years. Even those who have been with the company 15-20 years are on zero-hours. Is that fair? Is that right?
  4. Would I be correct in saying Council Tax in Scotland has been frozen for a few years thanks to the Scottish government? Genuine question, I have no idea what the answer is. Down here it increases year on year because central government cut council funding, forcing councils to pass the cost onto us. Cornwall Council is raising it again by 3.99% - the highest possible without triggering a local referendum to vote on a higher increase. The number of food banks is at a record high - surely a sign of the struggles many are facing. Benefit cuts have affected large numbers of people. The PIP cuts on the disabled was despicable. Benefit sanctions are regular for “missed appointments”, and the Work Capability Assessments have managed to deem people capable of working who end up dying a week later from their illness. Zero hour contracts are much more commonplace these days. In the low paid sectors such as retail, where it used to be easy to pick up a decent sized contract, you are lucky to get anything 30+ hours now. I know many people working 2 or 3 jobs - because none of those places will offer them a decent enough contract which they can actually live on. Bedroom tax - affected loads of people who have had claims for housing benefit/UC. As it happens, the Scottish government disagreed with it so much they basically told the Tories to f**k off and funded it themselves to cover every person living in Scotland who suffered from this. You may have a circle of colleagues, friends and family around you who all live comfortably. I’ve been in the position myself in the past suffering under these problems. I know people affected by these. Having worked in low pay jobs, I know many who have battled debt, who have never gone out for some leisure because they are regularly skint, and who can’t afford to “go home early” when work asks them too, because they can’t go without the two hours of minimum wage they’d miss out on.
  5. I won’t disagree with any of that. As I’ve said it seems to have taken time for him to find his form. I hope for our sake it’s just the beginning and he does carry on to hit double figures. Danny Mullen hit similar form near the end of last season but that just seems to have been a good patch as his goals record has been/is still very bare aside from that patch. Unlike many others back then, I didn’t give a crap that Higdon “didn’t run much”. He was there to score goals and he was excellent at it. Most of our fans seemed to prefer the aimless running of Dargo than the goals of Higdon - Higdon smashed in more SPL goals in one season than Dargo did in 3 or 4 seasons across all competitions. But week in week out it was “he ran around lots” while Higdon was a “lazy bastard who doesn’t do anything”. Give me a striker smashing in the goals than an endurance runner with limited football ability any day. Perhaps slightly harsh as he was good before he joined us, but that pre-season injury ruined him.
  6. TopCat has a point though. Higdon faced regular criticism yet he was one of the best strikers we have had in the past decade. If Obika keeps scoring at the rate he’s going, it’ll be the same thing - lots of criticism but does exactly what we want of a striker. Time will tell (he may not score ever again for us), but he’s playing well at the moment and TC’s right when he says Higdon took a lot of shit from the fans.
  7. There aren’t enough facepalms in the world for this.
  8. 2014 vote lost relevance the moment Scotland began being dragged out of the EU after the “Scotland must stay in the UK if it wants to stay in the EU” lie. On the contrary - they very quickly forgotten the 9 years of Tory cuts, austerity, UC disaster, food bank growth etc. We can probably call them racists for another four and a half years, stop 6 months before 2024 GE and they’ll have forgotten all about it if 2019 is anything to go by.
  9. “Brexit means Brexit” ”Corbyn is a terrorist because The Sun/Daily Mail/Daily Express said so” ”Corbyn hates the Jews because -as above-“ ”Johnson is funny and has personality” ”Johnson said he won’t sell the NHS so I believe him because he wouldn’t lie” ”We can have £350m from not giving money to the EU so we can use it on the NHS and stuff now” ”Things are getting worse so I trust the Tories to fix them even though they’ve been in power for 9 years” “I’m a turkey who loves Christmas” ”Boris will get Brexit done” ”Socialism is terrible and means we will be communists even though it works for Sweden/New Zealand/Norway etc” Take your pick, each reason is a facepalm moment. Living down here I’ve had a couple of people in my cab (I’m not shull) citing Brexit pish and their dislike of Corbyn because they actually believe the ridiculous smears against him.
  10. He must have played like Beckenbauer during the V9 and that’s what convinced Stubbs he could cut it at the SPL. Unless you are suggesting Stubbs can’t spot a player...
  11. 12 million people have voted in a PM who is a known racist, endorsed by fellow racists Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and Katie Hopkins. I agree it’s wrong to label everyone with the same brush, but there’s certainly a problem when this type of person can become the leader of a country.
  12. Because now we ended up as team of the week and that’s probably a curse which would have been St Johnstone’s curse but it’s now ours. It’s all BuddieinEK’s fault. Booooo. What about Josh Heaton? If he was actually any decent we could have had clean sheets every game and challenge for the title...
  13. SNP Vote Share in Scotland - 45% Tory Vote Share In UK - 43% The SNP have a bigger mandate for Indyref2 than the Tories have for Brexit.
  14. This’ll be Team of the Week curse then, much like manager of the month. If we lose then I would like to suggest we all blame BuddieinEK for the defeat.
  15. It depends what’s more important to him. One last big pay check, or one last shot at getting some game time before retirement.
  16. Matters aren’t helped though when the elected PM has a history of insulting various kinds of people, from black children, Muslims, Scots and whoever else he’s decided to offend. The thing is, many have been quick to blame immigrants for everything (lack of housing, GP spaces, school spaces) and few actually stand up for them and point out that immigrants contribute just as much in tax and NI as the rest of the people here.
  17. 3 goals into December wasn’t overly inspiring, but it does appear it’s taken him a bit of time to find his game with us. As I said above he may not score again, but 5 goals before the New Year sets a target of hitting double figures, and it’s been rare for us in recent years to find someone doing that in the SPL for us. He’s only one goal off last season’s best of (a rather low) 6.
  18. Is it time those who have been criticising Obika start backing off? It’s December and he’s on 5 goals. Last season our top scorers managed a massive tally of 6. We are just shy of the halfway point of the season - if Obika hits the same tally throughout the second half of the season he’ll hit double figures - which was only achieved by Sutton, Higdon and Thompson in our previous 9 year top flight spell. He may not score again this season, he may do better than expected and hit 12-15 goals. But perhaps it’s time to lay off the guy a bit - he’s here to score goals and he’s doing a better job of it than anyone else we’ve had this season or last season.
  19. I think they would, for these reasons: EU citizens are stuck in a position where they feel let down and abandoned by the UK. Westminster hasn’t exactly been nice and helpful towards us since Brexit. We were originally told we’d have to pay a fee to stay (now rescinded), and have had to apply for settlement status with a pain in the ass system which doesn’t work properly (I know this having tried it myself). Scotland and the SNP seem to have been the only voices lending support to the EU citizens (The Greens too, but their influence is limited). Add to that the fact that Scotland appears very keen to stay/rejoin the EU where EU citizens would be able to enjoy the same rights as before, I believe that there would certainly be more in favour of an Indy Scotland than against, remaining part of a UK that has alienated them and treated them as second class citizens. It’s also worth adding that EU citizens were allowed a say in the Scottish referendum, but completely ignored in the EU referendum. That won’t be forgotten. As for the 16-17 group, the results show the usual trend of older generation voting Conservatives while the younger ones were more likely to back the likes of SNP/Labour/LD. If this trend followed suit it would be highly likely the 16-17 group would be very supportive of independence. Of course I am only guessing, but I believe the reasons I stated could well be along the right lines.
  20. Perhaps not, but no 14 year old is going to say no to an opportunity with Bayern Munich or Benfica. Top class coaching, miles better than anyone in Scotland could dream of providing. If that was my kid I’d be saying to him to grasp that opportunity. Whether or not he makes it, it’ll be a massive highlight in their life.
  21. Anyway, Cornwall is f**ked. Set to be the second worst hit (after Wales) when Brexit kicks in. A county that returned a full compliment of 6 Tory MPs in 2017, yet their manifesto coatings mention the end of the Southwest Water rebate on our extremely high water bills. Council tax rising yet again by 3.99%, yet another rise because central government cut council funding. Nothing done after the one train line into the county was damaged by stormy weather, while government funds the pointless HS2 project. Treliske hospital regularly on black alert, and the building I had an operation in back in 2013 now shut, and the similar operation I need now needs me to suffer more before being seen to, even though it will not heal itself. When England alone can foist a Tory majority without any input from the other three countries, you know it’s time for independence. Thank f**k the SNP smashed it. Personal highlights include the eviction of the talentless Jo Swinson, and the elimination of the vile Kirstene Hair.
  22. The important thing missing from this is EU citizens and 16/17 year olds. I would imagine that the majority of those would support Yes. SNP + Green is 46%. Add in EU citizens who are generally going to be pro-EU, add the youth who can’t stand the Tories. There’s the possibility of potential LD and Labour voters going Yes as well. The only guaranteed No percentage is the 25.6% that voted Con and BP. it’s much tighter than 45-55. If the unionist parties returned 48 MPs then the yoons would be all over it, claiming that’s the proof Scotland doesn’t want independence. Why is it a different story because the SNP picked up 48 seats? I can confirm this is true. Driving through the back lanes and it was like driving through clouds, couldny see a thing.
  23. I’m all for people voting for their preferred choices - that’s the point of democracy. I’m just pointing out that if you vote Cuntservative, then you are supportive of homelessness, poverty, seeing the low paid struggle, and seeing terminally ill people being declared fit for work. I would generally assume those characteristics would belong to a c**t on a normal day, not sure why that would suddenly change on Election Day.
  24. He hasn’t said anything about screaming in their face. He’s not wrong either, if you find yourself voting Conservative then the chances are you probably are a c**t.
  25. This is my big concern. It will be a massive kick in the baws if this boy does well and we get nothing for it.
