  1. Aye, true. A place in the 1/4 finals up for grabs...one game away from Hampden. They have Obika, of course. Whilst we have Mandron and O'Hara. Looking forward to it, already.
  2. They would just alternate which pot is chosen from first for each tie. I would prefer a local away trip, but Ayr, Airdrieonians or Motherwell at home is the best we can hope for, really.
  3. I think half of the seeded teams are at home and the other half away. How does that work? Is it not just random - a seeded pot and an unseeded pot?
  4. So Airdrieonians and Ayr have been been seeded! Gis one of them.
  5. Traveling in now. Just about to leave Central and already seen a few Saint, Thistle fans and a Morton fan. Some of the pleasure on match days is the journey in. Anyway, good to see McMenamin is playing on the wing today.
  6. Draw will be done tomorrow, apparently.
  7. This is an excellent idea and very generous of you to actually include a prize! I will have a good hard think about it before I submit my prediction. I would suggest it would be advantageous to leave it until the deadline, so I imagine there will not be many entries until then.
  8. Yeah, I read about this! I can't see anything wrong with it. The message seems to be we won't tolerate criminality in our small towns and we will resist attempts to remove our Second Amendment rights. Hardly anything controversial.
  9. Aye, but they probably changed their policy especially for us! 😉 But seriously, if you can't take a can of juice to the fitba and lassies get their bags searched, then I can't imagine clubs allowing folk to take umbrellas to the game.
  10. Serious question: can you actually enter the ground with an umbrella? I suppose they might allow those wee collapsible ones, but what about a decent sized one?
  11. My crowd prediction is 2,351. 😄 We should see who's the closest, @Rascal & @HSS!
  12. I think she was a little confused. Wasn't she an LGBT activist and feminist, but also a tattooed Muslim who wore a hijab? I'm a libertarian and far be it for me to tell people what values they should hold, but I find it difficult to see how she could reconcile some of her beliefs. Tattoos are haram in Islam for starters, and it's not the most LGBT friendly of faiths. Some would argue that the hijab is irreconcilable with feminism, at least when wearing it is mandatory as in Iran, or culturally taboo. I will admit to having had my own mental health problems and I am not judging her. Reading an abridged biography, it would seem she had more than her fair share of trials in life and I think these things may have taken their toll on her. Fifty-six is very young. Does anybody know what caused her death?
  13. I agree that it will not be a big crowd, but given it's an important game which will hopefully see the side progress to the last 16, I'm surprised folk are not attending in numbers.
  14. I didn't know this: Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66318626
  15. Just trying to work out of we can still be seeded: Group A: 1 Ayr 3 2 8 2 Stirling 3 2 7 If Ayr's best result is a single point at home to Alloa, they can finish on 9 points, so it would go to goal difference. Stirling are away to St. J, so I would not expect them to go through, but they can finish with 10 points. Best results for Saints: Alloa and St. Johnstone wins. An Ayr and/or Stirling win will see them finish on >9 points. Group B: 1 Dundee Utd 4 2 6 2 Partick Thistle 3 1 6 3 The Spartans 3 1 6 4 Falkirk 3 0 5 Nobody can finish on more than nine points, so goal difference is important here. We want draws or narrow-margin wins. Group 😄 [LIVINGSTON SEEDED] Team P GD Pts 1 Hamilton 3 3 8 2 Livingston 3 8 7 3 Cove Rangers 3 -1 6 The bad news is Livingston will almost certainly beat Clyde, so I am writing this one off as seeded. Group 😧 [SEEDED] 1 Ross County 3 7 9 2 Morton 3 4 6 3 Kelty Hearts 3 2 6 Bad news again, I cannot see past Ross County getting at least a draw at home to Kelty. Even if they do slip up, Morton are at home to winless Edinburgh. I am writing this one off as seeded, too. I've just looked at group E, and given up. Airdrieonians need a draw at Bonnyrigg, who currently have one point, to finish on ten points. In group G Motherwell need a penalty shoot-out win in their home game against East Fife to finish on 10 points. The good news is we could still get Airdrieonians, Motherwell or Livingston even though we won't be seeded! Of course, we have to beat Forfar first.
  16. Bah! You're right: Source: https://spfl.co.uk/league/league-cup/format
  17. I should say, away to Morton would be my number one draw - of they somehow scrape through. Failing that, away to Hamilton, Ayr, Airdrieonians or Partick Thistle would be a good day out. Anybody know how the seeding works for this draw? ETA: @exiledfan - I believe it is.
  18. I think Forfar winning their league might be worth a few £, too.
  19. Premature, I know, but thinking about who we could get in the next round. Of course, we still have to beat Forfar and I do not wish to tempt fate by suggesting that's a foregone conclusion. However: It looks as though Ayr will finish top of Group A. If Partick Thistle can beat Spartans at home, they will finish top of Group B. If Hamilton win they will top Group C and I would expect Livingston to finish the group with 10 points, regardless, so should qualify as one of the three second placed teams to progress. Ross County should win their group, as they host Kelty Hearts on Saturday, not sure if 9 points will be enough for Morton to go through, though. I would expect Airdrieonians to do enough away to Bonnyrigg to finish highest in Group E, as they only need a draw. Kilmarnock should surely do the job in Coatbridge, which would see them finish first in Group F*. Motherwell are clear favourites to win Group G, with a home game against East Fife on Saturday ensuring their progression. So, we have: Aberdeen Airdrieonians Ayr Utd Celtic Hamilton Hearts Hibs Kilmarnock* Livingston Motherwell Partick Thistle Rangers Ross County + the two other runners up. *Killie have just conceded and it may be Raith Rovers who go through.
  20. A bit premature, perhaps, but when's the draw for the next round? It's due to be played on: Weekend of August 19/20 (four weeks on Saturday). Source: https://spfl.co.uk/pages/league-cup-format
  21. Wow! She was talented. She's definitely been acting crazily for years, now. Rest in Peace.
  22. @FTOF's post was needlessly abrasive, but I can see his point, too. I didn't see the game, so I cannot comment on how well we played, but it sounds like their keeper played extremely well and, as a team, they raised their game, which is only to be expected. I agree with Robbo, we were on a hiding to nothing - these ties are a potential banana skin, just consider the Aberdeen game v Darvel. Personally, I'm just relieved that we got the goal and won the game. We are still early in the season, and I think it's commendable that we ground out the result. Was it the best of performances? Probably not, but we won the game. I don't think we should be too hard on the team.
