  1. Yup. Agreed on that. Particularly George. He was particularly good in his wee spell as one of the Travelling Wiburys. McCartney on the other hand is an absolute bellend.
  2. Just one last thing then we can let people talk about Gus again. I know you’re much smarter than the above comment. That was one of the most annoying, lazy misconceptions during indyref. SNP = Independence - Correct Independence = SNP - Incorrect.
  3. Hod the bus, you’re no getting off that easy. Politicians will still run the country whether we’re independent or not.
  4. Beat me to it Wendy. Also Doogie, I’m not sure how changing your view on independence changes what politicians are or aren’t?
  5. I’d say Ricky.... Could we be a successful independent country? Yes. Are we all guaranteed to be instantly better off as a result of independence? No. Would I still vote for it anyway purely on the fundamental grounds of self determination? Absolutely!
  6. Maybe one for another thread but I’d be interested to know the reasons for your change of heart. I know a few people who have flipped the other way, but the only people I know who have softened on their Yes stance, are people (I might even be one of them) who just simply had the stuffing knocked out of them and don’t have the stomach for going through it all again. The main things I learned during indyref was how to utterly detest the mainstream media and that maybe (just maybe mind) this is a battle that we’ll never be allowed to win.
  7. I’m not a massive Elvis fan, but I absolutely appreciate his work and like lots of his songs. For example “If I can Dream” would absolutely be in my top 100 of all time. The Stones weren’t really my cup of tea, but massively more credible than the Beatles IMHO.
  8. I remember it so vividly. I had been seeing this girl for about 3 years at the time. She was an absolute stoater. The H game was the only St. Mirren game I had ever taken her to (and was the last obvs). Don’t know what possessed me really. It was always a terrible idea. Anyway, the bad 2 minutes happened and the final whistle went. I had just thrown my scarf onto the park (natch) and was busy swearing my head off and in fairness probably being a bit short with her. In my defence though, it was never the time for her to utter the dreaded words “oh FFS it’s only a game”. Well my top was well and truly blown and I sent her packing with a flea in her ear, telling her I never wanted to see her again. Went home and sat in the huff for the rest of the night. Woke up in the morning feeling very sheepish and not a little regretful that I’d papped such a beauty. The phonecall simply had to be made. I crept and crawled like never before, mitigating my behaviour on the fact that it was the worst night of my st. Mirren supporting life and that such behaviour would never be repeated. Fortunately as I was (and still am) such a handsome stud, she forgave me and all was well again.
  9. Mistaken identity there Antrin. Pretty sure TPAFKATS doesn’t live in Jersey!
  10. Right I’m just going to come right out there and say it. The Beatles were shite. Tinny wee pop songs with boring repetitive lyrics for the most part. For such a revered band with a pretty prolific output in the 10 years or so that they were successful, I could literally count the number of their songs that I consider acceptable on the fingers of one hand. For me there was much much better music around in the 60s. There isn’t one Beatles song that would make it into my top 100 songs of all time. Off the top of my head I’d give you “In my Life” and “Across the Universe”. Struggling after that.
  11. I know it’s ridiculous isn’t it. I’ve grown up a wee bit since though. Oh and I obvs went crawling back to my girlfriend the day after! Incidentally, the day after indyref is probably the worst I’ve felt after any single event in my entire life. I made a right arse of myself driving into work the next day. Stuck in traffic and I just burst into tears. Folk walking past the car looking at me wondering what the feck was going on. I know. Ridiculous eh. I vowed never to support Scotland at anything ever again because we weren’t worthy of having a national team . Especially those no voting rugby bastards! . Of course that never lasted coz I cannae help myself, but the pain of that result lasted for months for me and to a certain extent does to this day.
  12. I did say he should take the brunt of the responsibility. I didn’t say it was all his fault.
  13. When I was a kid and a teenager growing up watching St. Mirren, I let certain St. Mirren defeats genuinely influence my life for days afterwards. I finished with a girlfriend after the Hammarby game, I was in a foul mood for days after semi final defeats or games against the OF where we clutched defeat from the jaws of victory. My mother says to this day she used to watch final score to see if St. Mirren had won as she knew if we hadn’t I’d be unbearable for the rest of the evening. However, when I reached the ripe old age of about 25 or so, I vowed that I would never let the result of a St. Mirren game affect my life in such a fashion. I’m now 52 and I can say that the only time I went back on my vow was that effin cup final. It was totally unacceptable and yes I do hold Gus hugely responsible for it. We were shamefully tactically inept that game and as far as I’m concerned the manager should take the brunt of the blame for that. As for this appointment, I’m against the creation of a TD role more that I’m against Gus’s appointment, but if such a role needed to exist, then I certainly wouldn’t have chosen Gus for the role.
  14. I tell ye what, if anybody didnae like wee Danny Mullen before watching that video, I defy them tae no like him now. What a smashin wee fella,
  15. I once got a kiss off Clare Grogan and Michael Stipe once knocked me back for an autograph.......that’s all I’ve got. Oh know, wait a minute, when I was a wean a bunch of us went carol singing round Foxbar to earn a few bob. I got a quid at Alex Beckett’s door. What a gent.
  16. I so want to believe all Ricky’s wee mini stories. In fact sod it, I’m going to believe all his wee mini stories. Until he tells us about the time he had brunch with Mao Tse Tung, Tsar Nikolai II and Adolf Hitler. You keep them coming Rickster!
  17. Don’t know if they are St. Mirren fans or not. Obvs Neil is Paisley Buddie and Tennant grew up in Paisley but I don’t know who they support if any. Neither strike me as big Fitba guys.
  18. Dougie Henshall is a definite St. Mirren fan. Sadly the real Paisley celebs like Butler and Nutini are both Tim. Actually correction. Not sadly in the case of Butler. I wouldn’t want him as a Bud because he’s an utter cock.
  19. Oh there was plenty. And the way it turned out for Rolf Harris, maybe there was a hidden meaning behind Two Little Boys. Shame about that Neil Dianond song you quote because dodgy lyrics aside it’s a cracking song. Although I preferred the version that was on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. Cannae mind who did it.
  20. Ah that took me back Shull. One of my earliest memories of music. I can think of a few before it but not many. Sugar Sugar by the Arches and Lily the Pink by Scaffold spring to mind, In fairness it wasn’t a great era for pop music but these songs have their place in time. The other day I heard Young Girl by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap for the first time in donkeys years. Blimey that’s some seriously inappropriate lyrics. Project Yew Tree would be all over oor Gary these days.
