  1. Actually less than that, as I understand it.
  2. There is also the fact that Stubbs was afforded the opportunity by a significant majority of our support (in so far as I could judge) to engage, and demonstrate that he was enthusiastic and positive about the challenge ahead. He failed miserably to do that. One of the first things he should have realised is that there was a huge amount of positivity around the club that could be harnessed. Not only did he fail to see that, but he actually set about dismantling it. Quite incredible, really. Kearney has already acknowledged how important those bonds and relationships can be, and the potential for revitalising the feel good factor that surrounded the club just a few short months ago. While these are only words just now, it already demonstrates for me that the man has more in insight into what elements are essential in galvanising a club and building for the future.
  3. Oran comes across very well. He seems to be a grounded, pragmatic character, who knows how important it is to build relationships and restore a sense of hope and optimism around the club.
  4. Why not? Ticks a few boxes. Been around the block. Knows the game here very well. Will have a good few contacts presumably. Is a strong character.
  5. So the club are appointing a 'technical director'....
  6. Big name. Big guy. Big signing, if it happens.
  7. Hindsight, etc. The Rotherham shambles should have been a warning, however.
  8. I've heard Rice is a popular enough figure around the club. We have to assume that GS and Fitzy have a sense of whether he is worth keeping on, in much the same way that they developed a sense that Stubbs (and Jackson) had to go.
  9. In the grand scheme of things, how relevant is this if the guy could do a job for us?
  10. Bottimtline is that they didn't sign themselves.
  11. Of the two posts above, the second was certainly the more compelling.
  12. No? You clearly cannot appreciate sophisticated humour. Smelly pants!
  13. That's considerably worse than my woeful orangutan gag
  14. For now, someone who doesn't tell his players they are shite and can string a sentence together will do.
  15. I don't take any interest in English football, so didn't have any awareness of the Rotherham debacle. That said, Stubbs never felt like a good fit. Once appointed, he was due the opportunity to demonstrate that was, but very quickly blew any chance of that out the water. When asked about Guti, Kluivert etc, Gordon Scott made it clear that the club were looking to bring someone in with experience of the Scottish game. Hence, the appointment of Stubbs. I wonder how much time had passed before he and his colleagues on the BoD started to feel a creeping unease as they watched Stubbs conduct his business. Fair play to them, they made the error in bringing him in, but have addressed it quickly and decisively.
  16. I know. It was abysmal. I would delete it, but Andy has already quoted it, so that would be even more humiliating. I might find a small cave somewhere and become a hermit
  17. We should have paid more heed to them. RUFC fans called this spot-on. Whilst I don't have any great feeling of antipathy towards the man, I genuinely had a spring in my step on Tuesday after the announcement that he had been sacked. Not since Tommy Craig, had I felt so relieved that the club had gotten shot of a toxic influence. It's almost as if Stubbs couldn't help himself. He seemed to go about the task of dismantling the positivity, cohesion, and sense of purpose at the club without even demonstrating any alternative vision that might justify what he was doing to some degree. Baffling. At no stage did I ever believe that he had a clear strategy, and it was increasingly apparent that he didn't. Anyway, he is now a (very) brief interlude in the club’s history, and with the new man set to join us shortly, it is time to look forward. Happy days!
  18. FFS, that was terrible. I'm embarrassed for myself. Sorry
