  1. Has been pointed out elsewhere on here that his (very) poor performance yesterday could be a blessing in disguise. I don't think there is going to be huge competition for his signature and Dinamo Bucharest clearly don't want him. If the 6 figures are around the 100k mark then we will surely pay up.
  2. Of the quality of Hladky and Popescu? Of course we can. There will be players leaving the club and they need to be replaced.
  3. I agree we could have waited a few days before starting this debate, but hopefully Gus & Tony are already working on bringing new faces in. The first thing we need is a settled squad going in to the friendlies and League Cup ties. Not this nonsense of using competitive games to try and work what needs to be done with the squad. Gordon Scott is making all the right noises regarding Gus MacPherson's role in ensuring this happens. I hope next season we can play more attacking football and will be happy to take more risks, particularly with a quite weak looking Livingston surely favourites for 12th spot. The first major problem we have is distribution from the back (other than Hladky). I honestly would be looking for replacements for everyone except Popescu. McGinn and Baird should be our back up players, not automatic first picks. If we are to compete we need defenders who are better on the ball, and full backs who can put in a more dangerous cross. In midfield we lack creativity, I would only have Ryan Flynn down as first pick from the current squad. Magennis can hopefully improve with a run without injuries, but he is far from an automatic first pick. I'd like to see Erhanon in midfield when he does get a game, not left back ever again. Up front Danny Mullen showed yesterday how could he could be either behind or beside a proper target man. Clearly bringing in a top quality striker or two must be our absolute priority, and hopefully we have been actively searching across Europe over the past months. So only Hladky, Popescu, Flynn and Mullen should be down as automatic first picks for next season. We should be looking to make 7 or 8 top quality signings, and have the current guys like Paul and Stephen McGinn, Magennis and Cooke ready to fight for their spots.
  4. He can just start playing with a Peter Cech style helmet, the refs don't seem interested in stopping the opposition trying to knock him out every game.
  5. Paul McGinn sums it up well when he says anybody could see the squad was only fit for League 1. Probably a good comment on the standard of mainstream media journalism in Scotland too. They all sat about waffling about Stubbs "only getting 4 games" when anyone could see he had set the club back years in such a short time in charge!
  6. I can see Jack Ross being fired now, which isn't something I would like to see at all. Aside from the fact I would like to see him succeed down there, I would hate to see him back up here managing Killie or Dundee.
  7. Things Robbie Nielson says you need to be a Premier League team: Money Cojones Things Dundee United have: Money Get it right up ye ya shite talking tangerine fud!
  8. I'm not one to criticise refs after games. They are only human, and it is incredibly difficult to get every call right when things are happening so fast (and nowadays you have players cheating thrown in to the mix as well). However, over the two games there have been a series of utterly baffling head-scratching "are you f**king serious?" decisions that could have seen us relegated. Not least yesterday we had a perfectly good goal chopped off, a penalty awarded against us, a red card against us, and two red card calls for United not given - every single one of them clearly the wrong decision! If these are the best refs the SFA can provide then its clear there is a massive problem in Scotland. Surely we need to look at bringing in VAR and bring in expertise from overseas to run both the VAR system and the SFA's dysfunctional appeals and compliance system. These things are always said to be "too expensive for Scottish football" but its a multi-million pound industry in this country, and every club already has multiple cameras at every game. VAR installed on a smaller budget might bring some problems but it can't be worse than the nonsense we have been subjected to this season from the 4 penalties at Ibrox to Beaton's attempt to relegate us yesterday! I'd expect the club to be making some noise over this in the coming days, and to appeal Nazon's red card whether he is going to be staying here or not.
  9. How many f**king times do we need to hear this pish. Allan, son, nobody is disputing the squad needed major surgery. The issues are; 1. The players you did sign were an utter load of shite. You know nothing about scouting and clearly have no good contacts - maybe just some guys who pretend to be your mate in order to cash in when they sell you aforementioned shite. 2. You have zero man management skills. In fact, you come across as an annoying prick that nobody would want to work for. 3. You have zero tactical knowledge. You couldn't beat an amateur side or a non-league side because your players had no idea where to even stand or pass the ball. Look forward to a resounding chorus of "Are you watching, Allan Stubbs?" when we beat United and stay up.
  10. https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-united/897791/talking-football-dundee-united-have-a-much-bigger-goal-threat-than-st-mirren/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Seeing quite a lot of comments and articles like this. They seem to think their fans who deserted them when they got relegated coming back seems to mean they have the playoff in the bag.
  11. If you want to talk to people standing in a line outside your front door, go out and talk to them. Don't hide behind twitter. Aside from that, terrible customer service to pull the shutters down at 4pm and that nonsensical excuse just makes it worse.
  12. Yep, this part is shocking. Particularly at 4pm. United had their ticket office open until midnight the other night! Club will probably put out a statement claiming someone spat on the ticket office window instead.
  13. It's hardly surprising. As I pointed out above the customer service at the ticket office always makes one feel like an inconvenience to the club rather than a valued supporter. We generally go along to these games expecting to see our team gubbed and a generally pish poor standard of football, but the club act like they are selling directors box tickets to Barca v Man City. It is a cultural issue from top to bottom. Gordon going up and down the line apologising and then the shutters coming down at 4pm with hundreds outside is hardly surprising. Empty, meaningless gestures rather than practical solutions. They could have pulled a late PR win out of this disaster by getting Gordon & Tony behind the ticket desk from 4pm until every last punter had been served. There isn't any need for all the drama queens cancelling their season tickets and claiming they don't care what happens to the team now......but it would be good if lessons could be learned and a proper customer service culture was introduced in the boardroom, ticket office, and the horrible commercial department.
  14. There is a TV deal though, and there will continue to be larger and larger TV deals.
  15. I think just before the red card and Lyons injury, Kearney had alredy decided to change to a back 5 given the problems Dundee caused at the goal. Muzek went charging in to the middle of the park to win the ball leaving Magennis sprinting all the way back trying to cover their full back who scored. A right mess. Dundee were also finding plenty of space in the line between our midfield and attack either with McGowan going forwards or Miller coming deep. I can only assume Kearney thought sorting all this out was still the biggest priority and wanted to go 5 at the back. It did seem absurdly negative to me but certainly 2nd half was much better with Hodson and McGinn pushing forwards and Cooke to aim at in the box.
  16. It was Lyons winning the ball that caused Dundee to go down to 10 men. However, I do generally agree. Cooke should start with either Jackson or Mullen in behind them.
  17. Predictable boring insults from you. Do us all a favour and log off for a while while the rest of us discuss the football.
  18. Is it a full moon btw? The usual forum zoomers seemed to go into overdrive today.
  19. I think Muzek will drop out for Hodson after the mistake for the opening goal.
  20. We have enough about us to beat Dundee United. McAllister, Magennis, McGinn and Flynn should be able to cause the problems. However once again we just looked so pedestrian for long spells. I'm really baffled by how poorly we play sometimes, hopefully Thursday we see Cooke start & a lot more urgency in the performance.
  21. You've just invented a scenario in your head and are now getting worked up by it for no reason. Calm down ffs.
