DL's tactics yesterday reminded me of Jock Stein's first game managing Celtic, which was against us at LS. We were part-time at the time and JS knew this and played big John Hughes thro' the middle in the 1st half with Stevie Chalmers on the wing. Hughes just ran and ran at us all thro' that half. "nd half, Hughes moved to the wing (nae subs in thae days), Chalmers into centre and they beat us 4-0. A bit different yesterday, I'll admit, but Isma on the wing 1st half and a switch with Thommo in the 2nd half worked for us.

Any truth in the rumour we are looking at Ross Tokely?

Wee John McGinn, yesterday, reminded me of a player we had at St Mirren in the 60's, Archie Gemmill. The same type of player, small, wiry, and with great skill. This is a memory of what Archie was like, and Wee John could be the same:- -

Steven Thompson – ‘We Need Your Backing’ JANUARY 25, 2013 BY ADMIN On Sunday afternoon St Mirren head to the National Stadium to face Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Communities League Cup. Everybody knows that Saints’ striker Steven Thompson is a St Mirren fan and as such he has vivid memories of the 1987 Scottish Cup final but he hopes the fans will turn out in good numbers this Sunday at Hampden to hopefully create some new golden memories. He said, “My first ever St Mirren game was the Scottish Cup Final in 1987 when I was 9-years-old. “I felt as if I was in amongst a million St Mirren fans that day as there were so many of them at the game. It must have been such an inspiration to the players knowing they had such a backing. “I have no doubt that the 87 Scottish Cup winning team were helped and inspired by seeing half of the stadium was in the black and white of St Mirren. “If you are St Mirren fan out there who hasn’t decided whether you are going or not please go and give us your backing as it is such a help to the players when you can turn around and see and hear a support like that.” -

Possible New Ticketing Initiative

IMO, a Great Idea, although I like the seat I have at present. To go slightly further, could there not be a slight alteration to the full ST's, in that, e.g. if I wished to take my grand kids to the family stand for a couple of games, I would be able to use my existing ST smartcard, but still buy the grandkids tickets to take them in -
By the look of things, there won't be any development soon as the SFA have cash flow problems, and don't know when the tv deal's money will be shared out

They may have asked for one when they re-signed, but was within the limits of the Club's reasonable-ness

let's face it, RA is first & foremost a business man, & is also a director of another Company. Therefore he would get my vote, probably.

I, personally, think it is time to let DL choose his own team next season, if what I've observed the last few gameshave been what I've been looking for from Saints after last few years of defensiveness. He, himself, admiited that GM's players are starting to believe in his style of play

Cue Higdon when DL came on board. He might be the making of Nish as a striker if we take him. I, personally am not a fan of Nish but hope is eternal

Casalinouvo is a 'sand dancer'. IMO, he looks good enough to deceive. He has been found out at United, and now Accies

My Dad was a Ce**ic supporter all his days, but took me to Love Street in 1946, just after the war, because he didn't want me growing up to be a bigot. Too many bottles got thrown at OF games in these days towards opposing fans and he knew that Saints don't have that stigma. An aside to this was recently I arrived at GHR for a game and the OF had been playing, with Ce**ic winning, and 2 U19's were under the West stand selling programmes, and I said that I hoped we would win, but one of them answered he was on a downer because Ra***rs were beaten. I told him there was only one religion following Saints, and that is Saint Mirren. He walked away muttering
