  1. Back in those days it seemed that cars rotted away in front of your eyes in particular, l recall FIAT having a reputation for that. . Certainly something that got handled at some point as cars don't rot the way they used to . . The 1964 bus certainly looks pristine mind. .aluminium made a difference. .
  2. Maybe if they had to pay for a grass pitch they couldn't afford to be in the top league. .after all both of the teams in question are a bit short of fans. .
  3. Ohct, leave him alone , you love him really. .
  4. Great result for Saint Mirren, onwards we march in . .
  5. Air pollution is a different situation . If all the dirty German diesels in the Uk were turned off for good , tomorrow , that might well make a difference to air quality . Whether it would make a difference to the weather is debatable at the moment. . The oil industry is the biggest industry on the planet fuelling what is essentially a fire culture and we as the consumer are been made wrong for using what is available . We can't all just stop doing what we are doing , it needs to be business as usual during renovations . .
  6. Whilst climate change is undeniable and indeed , climate seems to change all the time . The current warming cycle dates back to around 1975 ( which in the age of the planet is nothing)Between 1946 and 1975 there was a cooling cycle and some "experts" were predicting another ice age until one "expert" claimed that his discovery of so called "green house gases" may protect us from another ice age . .
  7. As far as the press are concerned in this country , I still think what George Orwell said about them after trying to get his satire Animal Farm published , is still relevant today. . The chief danger to freedom of thought and speech at this moment is not the direct interference of … any official body. If publishers and editors exert themselves to keep certain topics out of print, it is not because they are frightened of prosecution but because they are frightened of public opinion. In this country intellectual cowardice is the worst enemy a writer or journalist has to face. … The sinister fact about literary censorship in England is that it is largely voluntary.
  8. I suppose it is called General Nonsense. .
  9. It is a good film and as you say it is different from most other westerns . The closest to it l reckon is probably Butch and Sundance and that is mainly because of the chase. The photography is indulgent and has quite a few scenes in the dark but overall there are some stunning vistas .. It is however becoming hard to find and you wont get it in either the Showc*se in Elderslie or at the Odeon in Braehead , despite some excellent perfomances in particular from Joacim Phoenix and Donnie Dargo. .
  10. He was having one of his we ad hominem moments . .
  11. I think Snowdon did more to expose the NSA tactics but he remains at large for the time being. . He always reminded me of that movie , Enemy of the State. .
