  1. Every year, particularly around the January transfer window, we hear phrases like "we're one quality striker away from being a really good team". Well, this year we've found that one quality striker, we are a really good team, and I can't wait to see what the next 4 months bring
  2. I have little time for Dundee Utd but I hope they absolutely stuff those cnuts today.
  3. Pretty much my thinking. Just curious to see of anyone else had heard anything!
  4. There are so many great things about that pictures: Thommo's hair Thommo's face Thommo's torso Sad Scott Brown The rhinoceros in the Celtic top getting up and leaving just above Thommo's left forearm
  5. I don't think there's much in this so I won't bother starting a new thread, but a Dundee Utd fan on twitter seems to think that we were on talks with them over Jim Goodwin, and we would get their youngster Ryan Gauld as part of the deal. He reckons with Houston gone its been shelved but I can't see there being any truth in it in the first place given we're short on defenders and he's filling that role, he just turned down an offer from Hibs and we have no need for a promising midfielder if we have McGinn and McLean at least until June, don't suppose anyone else has heard anything similar?
  6. Actually that was my second-last line, although I forgive you if you still can't see very well through tears of joy
  7. Phew... I've had 24 hours and four viewings of the highlights to gather my thoughts... Easily the best performance I've ever seen. Samson had little to do and was calm and composed when called upon. Did fantastic to put off Mulgrew, guess the right way and palm it away. Vanzy was on top of his game, McAusland was fantastic, Goodwin was immense, I'm often critical of him but he led by example for 90 minutes. Carey - his best performance since he returned to Saints, I'm sure many had reservations about having him at LB but he was great. Newton and McGinn bossed the midfield and dwarfed Wanyama and Brown - McGinn, in particular, played with a maturity well beyond his years, McLean might find he struggles to get back into the first XI. McGowan is looking back on form and his penalty was expertly taken. Teale - is time going backwards for this guy? He just didn't tire today. Goncalves looked like he's been playing for St. Mirren for years and I've really high hopes for him for the rest of the season. Finally, Thompson, where do I start? Thought he took a while to get into the game but Christ, he made Samaras look like a Sunday league player when he did, and that goal has to be up there with the best strikes of his career. Danny Lennon got everything spot on today. Tactics, formation, starting XI, substitutions - fantastic, and he deserves credit today. I can't pick a MOTM - they were all heroes. For me, yesterday epitomised what St. Mirren are capable of, and we've set the standard now - this is what we should be aiming for. There were so many highlights yesterday: Goodwin's tackle, then Isma's goal, and Samson turning to the crowd in celebration; Hooper equalising and, rather than celebrating with the Celtic fans, turning to us with Brown to show off what an unlikeable dick he is and I thought "we'd better win this to get it up that cnut". The boys at half time, watching the Celtic fans nearest us gesticulate towards them and never being so glad I'm not one of them. Sammy's save - no theatrics, straight back to focusing on the job. Gowser's penalty and the celebrations on the touchline and soon after Thommohawk's volley and seeing him run towards us and straight into Lee Mair on the touchline the roar and look on my dad's face when we collectively realised that we were witnessing St. Mirren folklore in the making, and 20 torturous minutes, watching the seats to my left drain of Celtic fans, the crowd cheering when Danny's face appeared on the big screen. Mulgrew's goal an unfortunate footnote that makes the scoreline look like the game at all tight, but then the celebrations when we saw Collum blow for full time, the cheer as Thommo was named MOTM and watching Jim run back out when he found out he was gonna be in the final. Someone will need to surgically remove the grin from my face. A day I'll tell my grandchildren about. Listening to Sportsound now, the fans singing "Teale will tear you apart" clear as a bell as Gary's being interviewed. Crowd were amazing. Watching the highlights, when Isma scored at the far end, you wouldn't think there were just 5000 of us. I'll be watching the game back tomorrow night trying to reign in emotion this time. Now let's take that same belief and performance into 17th March. We can do this. I f**king love this football club. COME ON THE SAINTS.
  8. Samson DVZ McAusland Mair Dummet/Carey Teale McLean Goodwin McGinn McGowan Thompson McGowan must perform, help out the midfield when needed and get forward with Teale and McGinn when he can. It kills me to put McGinn on the wing cos his best position is in the middle, but needs must. 1-0 Saints. McGowan, 79 mins, followed by 15 minutes of frantic, all-hands-to-the-pump, body-on-the-line, last-ditch defending. I'm taking my Celtic-supporting girlfriend to her first Saints game. We'd better win this or I'll never hear the end of it. Considering tying her to the seat, but if you hear someone let out a small squeal of delight if they score, please don't hurt her.
  9. keeping in with the theme of the thread...every little helps
  10. Is he still going?!?! I honestly thought he would be pushing 40 by now. At 33 not what we need.
  11. Because, shullster, reverse gear uses more petrol than first, and its more economical to use reverse when the engine's warm not cold. All about the £££s
  12. I think Goodwin is suspended? Edit: nope, on a yellow. Dunno where I got that from.
  13. The whole "The Rangers", "Sevco" etc thing is getting boring. They had a chance to emerge as a brand new club and be welcomed with (mostly) open arms into Scottish football, providing they keep religion out of it. They declined. If they want to be a club forever associated with bigotry, hatred, sectarianism, cheating and financial mismanagement, then let them. To coin a phrase, f**kEM!
  14. Oh okay. Jon Daly would be an incredible signing.
  15. Out of interest, Tom, why are you using IE if you've got Chrome installed?
  16. I'm quite late seeing this, but the bit in bold really depresses me. If true that one of our players wants out because of the behaviour of some of our 'fans', they should be very ashamed.
  17. I disagree on the "is" part. I don't know what happened at Ross County, maybe its regular games, the responsibility of being club captain, maturity or not having Gus MacPherson as a manager any more but he's twice the player he was when he left. At least as good as Robertson and if we didn't have guys like John McGinn breaking through I'd sign him up without hesitation.
  18. But there's a real possibility that Utd will be handing over 50% of their profits to rangers. Can't imagine that would go down well with our fans if we were in that position
  19. If there's no clause which says a team refusing to take any tickets waives their share of the gate money, the price is fixed by both clubs but if they can't agree it reverts to the host's "normal" price for a league game. Not sure what's defined as "normal" price though.
  20. Perhaps someone could clear this up for me... They've been found not guilty by the courts (although HMRC may appeal) but there is still the possibility that the SPL could find them guilty of breaking their rules (ie, not declaring contracts). Yes? Traynor was advocating that the SPL drop their investigation, but only a few months ago John Terry was cleared of racism by the courts, yet convicted by the FA, so it's not a foregone conclusion?
  21. Looking forward to this game already. This would be a perfect time to end out horrendously bad run against Celtic (off the top of my head I think we're sitting on played 7, scored zero, conceded 19?) Tough game of course but if Celtic can been Barcelona we can beat Celtic. COYS!
