  1. Also like the fact we will have Hearts at home on the last day. It will probably go that far and I'd much rather play a team with nothing to play for in Paisley than anything else.
  2. Perfect fixtures really. Hopefully beat Hibs in Paisley and draw them right into it to start, then take 3000 to Firhill on the Friday night under the lights and beat them too. That game and/or Killie away in May are going to be this seasons Fir Park / TFS great escape epic away days.
  3. Surprised at the negativity on this thread. You'd think we were 10 points behind or something. We don't have to win this weekend. We could lose this weekend and finish 8th. Any of the bottom 6 could go on a terrible run and not win another game this season, watch Hibs in this regard especially. It's going to come down to the 5 games after the split, simple.
  4. I wasn't planning to, as I'm sure you know what those figures show as well as I do ;)
  5. Fair enough. I could list average attendances for our respective clubs going back 20 years as suitable reply, can't really be bothered though!
  6. Novelty factor for home and away fans. You're not saying you have more fans than us, are you? Not to mention the fact you had the (mis?)fortune of hosting their title party.
  7. Made it home fine thanks, I think. Was a loooong day! :
  8. They were 2-0 down in the bounce game against the u20's. We won the Killie game 2-0.
  9. Goodwin isn't one of the two senior players that are apparently picking the team. It's the players taking control of team affairs and the club allowing Danny continuing to sit in the dugout and front up to the media and finish his contract without being sacked. Danny and the players know he won't be here next season regardless of results between now and May. Apparently it happened in the week before the Killie game, Danny wanted to try some new system during the week and tested it out in a bounce match against the u20 team at Ralston and the seniors were 2 down after 30 minutes. Words were said and it ended with Danny basically saying ' do it your way then '. So the players did and we won the game 2-0, and the two senior players have been effectively managing the team since. I don't know if it's true or not, just saying what i've heard. There has certainly been incidents recently where this theory has made sense. I don't think the BoD have anything to do with it, and even if they were complicit, surely Danny couldn't sue us for anymore than the 2 months wages he's got left on his contract? I'm sure Danny would rather have it this way than have a sacking on his CV, which would be the only alternative after a player mutiny.
  10. Amount of points is inconsequential. What is important is the huge post split game at Firhill and/or RP when we need a win. Important enough to bring a travelling support of approx 3000 and show the clubs around us what kind of football club they're dealing with. Important enough to inspire our players to a vital victory, again.
  11. I heard today that Danny is very much a peripheral figure in the football club these days. He knows he's leaving, the players know he's leaving and he's not making any decisions anymore. I heard Danny's on virtual gardening leave. I heard he's facing up and presenting to the media while certain senior players in the dressing room are managing the football club. Interesting.
  12. Our final pre split match and a big game for both teams. I think this is a very winnable match against a Well side that just lost at home to Killie. Hopefully see a big crowd in Paisley and we will roar the team on to a memorable victory. I will go for a 2-1 home win. Come on you Saints!
  13. Full time 2-2. Decent performance, ICT dug in for a point after going down to ten and they deserved 1. We have enough here, trust me.
  14. ICT down to 10. Josh drew last man foul twenty yards out. Free kick comes to nothing. It. Is. Here.
  15. Equaliser was coming, Sean headed home from 1 yard. Teale and Magennis on for Wylde and Campbell. We could win here. What a game though.
  16. McAusland on for McGinn. There's an inspiring sub. I'm sure you can imagine the reaction amongst the toiled long travelled faithful, incase you can't: ' LENNON, GET TO f**k, LENNON LENNON GET TO... '
  17. It's still Cheesys fault? Campbell's having a poor game and shouldn't have started in my opinion. I hear Gowser's been having a night out on Wednesday celebrating their title win and that's why he's not here, what a fanny he is, what a miss he is.
  18. 2-1 ICT and they should be ahead, since we scored they've been far the better team. We need to hang on to half time here, 3/1 is looking probable, backs to the wall now.
  19. Super start from the St Mirren. The better team and deservedly 1 up. Hold it now, COME ON!
  20. NEWTON!!! The problem with Newton is that he's been asked to be a creative player, he isn't. Ask him to sit beside Goodwin and buzzbomb the opponents. Run around daft like the Duracell bunny he is, win the ball, then give it to the more creative players in the team. Players like McLean, McGinn and Gowser. Ask him to perform that role and he will excell IMO (in my opinion). He's one of the fittest players I've ever seen at St Mirren, and he can get stuck in too.
  21. Team should be: Dilo Naismith McGregor Cheeser Kelly Newton Goodwin McGowan McLean McGinn Thommo Simple team, no mercenaries like Magennis. Play this I'm sure we will get least a point, don't play this I'm sure we will lose.
  22. I'm certainly not writing him off, he's a talented player and may play at a high level one day, I wouldn't mind having him back on loan here next season actually and wouldn't be surprised if it happened. He's 19 though, and as with virtually every player that age he's very inconsistent and not fully physically developed. I don't expect he will start another game for us this season and I don't think that's a mistake. He offers pace from the bench, but he's not ready to be a regular starter in my opinion.
  23. I don't believe either should be starting personally. Our strongest 11 is - in my opinion: Kello Naismith Cheesy McGregor Kelly Newton Goodwin McGowan McLean McGinn Thommo The problem last night was Magennis played instead of Goodwin and we kind of went 4-4-2. That mean we were being over run in central midfield and that consistently allowed StJ to overlap against our young full backs. Had Goodwin started infront of the back 4 this certainly wouldn't have happened to the extent it did. Campbell had a nice finish against Killie and an immense 45 minutes against Hibs. Apart from that he's done absolutely and I'm not surprised he's not in the team. As I said before he came, you can't really expect consistent performances from a player his age. He's just turned 19 and has virtually no senior experience, he's a good option to have from the bench but I wouldn't start him.
  24. I will be amazed if he's not. I said at the time, I've said it with hindsight I'll say it again. He should have went after the home loss to Thistle. That was in August, a new man would have made a difference then. A new man won't make a difference now though, it's too late, there's no point replacing him. The players shouldn't need motivation at this stage, each and every one of them is playing for their futures. Financial and otherwise. It's not over, 11th isn't a foregone conclusion. We have enough in the squad to keep us above second bottom, and I still believe we will.
  25. Don't forget the 'one we've been waiting for' Bahoken, Caprice and DIllon.' The mess of the squad is old ground though. Despite everything we may still stay up.
