  1. To summarize the overnoght postings on this subject "Don't delay leave today Get out now while you can Don't be daft leave your half To the hard drinking man And if they start knocking It's just the booze talking They've got the Malt and Barley Blues"
  2. Livingston's tactics were to push, kick and lean on our guys at every contact and with the size of their players it is incredibly hard to counter that if you put out a side of comparative midgets. The ref was also scandalous and if he couldn't make a decision he stopped the game and ordered a bounce up, which he usually handled by dropping the ball in front of one player. On one occassion two players tangled while waiting for a free kick and got up, he stopped the game, took the ball 8 metres to the left of where the free kick had been taken and dropped it for Saints to pLay. Why he did't just ignore the tangle and let them sort themselves out is beyond me. On that basis I'd say that if we had had a strong ref then they would have been 3 or 4 bookings to the bad by half time and they could easily have been risking a dismissal for the persistent fouling. All that being said, if Dunne was fit then we need his height and pace from the start, and we could have been using Gogic in front of the defence and defending the high line more effectively. We were wasteful on both wings, with McMenamin being naive ratther than uselesll in his passing. With all that said, anyone who thinks a fit Alex,O'Hara doesn't walk straight back into that team is somewhat deluded. Jamieson also looks like a young man on the verge of cutting loose and REALLY showing us what he's got, we werea different side going forward when McMenamin went off. The shortcomings of the squad as it is right now have cost us two wins and the ref's haven't helped, meanwhile the team selections seem more set up to suit the manager's philosophy than they are for the opposition's game and conditions.
  3. I'm pretty sure they will open another section if the initial allocation sells out, they really need the money
  4. Can we change the tilte of this thread to "Daily Mail Discards too flimsy for GB News"? It would cover the subject matter much more comprehensively.
  5. Do cross-dressers dress for their gratification or simply because the feel more comfortable in the attire usually associated with the opposite sex?
  6. I was thinking more of a wellness centre and respite area for distressed local charity executives.
  7. Maybe a pub at the away end is not a great idea.
  8. As Father Ted once said "priests aren't fascists, fascists walk around dressed in black telling other people what to do" He tries to do that in no less than 4 jobs, nice work (sic) if you can get it. I seem to remember him bleating about the pressure politics places on family time, ooh! the nerve! He even cited his family when Ruthie baby resigned saying he knows how hard it is to juggle politics and family (his wife is a cop) "Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross has been slammed by international human rights groups and Scottish Gypsy/Traveller elders after emails uncovered by openDemocracy show he tried to have a family of Travellers evicted by the local council because their camp was “very visible”. In the email, released to openDemocracy under the Freedom of Information Act, Ross says “the site has now been occupied for some time and is in a very visible location as you enter Moray from the west.” He also complains that “it seems to be getting bigger” and asks the council chief executive “what plans you have to take action to remove the Travellers from the site”. He also spoke against drag queen story time, has he never been to a pantomime? (outside of the one he lives in) Ross is an annoyance, i don't despise him even though he is an unerringly negative person whose main contribution to political discourse seems to be pointing out how bad everyone else is without having anything to refer to for his own merits. He serves his side of the debate very poorly.
  9. Try Israel, united by hating the same things (steps back, flame shield in place)
  10. Douglas Ross is a wee fat ride and a notably poor football official. Try making a song out of that, though
  11. Maybe some of the rumoured bids will materialise, maybe not. I'd be surprised if we see any changes for saints at this point
  12. "Malky Mackay. The Scot has worked wonders with Ross County and has previously operated at a rarified level down south with Watford, Cardiff City and Wigan. " That passage neatly summarises the journalist's knowledge and ability.
  13. What kind of team runs a four-man midfield with only 5 to pick from Grow up. If it does happen then it needs to be soon and for > £1,000,000 to allow us to strengthen and secure other key players on longer/better deals. Otherwise it will be a sell-out (again).
  14. Almost all of the top 10 seeded players still in contention makes it look hard for Murray to get to week 2, he does look very confident so maybe he knows something the rest of us don't. Still being in the draw on Monday could be one of his top achievements.
  15. I remember a Davie Shepherd from Bute Crescent used to hurtle around Paisley (Glenburn in particular) at a frightening pace dropping off the Heralds and the Evening Times to the delivery guys, at least you could hear him, or his gearbox, coming as you crossed the road. Whatever happened to the ubiquitous "van boy" jobs? Just about everyone who got dispensation to leave St Aelred's at had an offer of van boy job at the laundry or on the papers.
  16. You used the last 2 words, not me If you have trouble with what I actually wrote then work it out for yourself
  17. They take the lion's share of the league money and always will, they can afford to drop a couple of million to the common good fund, it's not as if they use it well and maybe a bit more competition would shake our league up. Fans are coming back and they will want to see more competition. The old firm have long complained that their poor performance in Europe was down to a lack of competition at home, but they have killed that by fixing the system and the one chance we had to restore balance was scuppered by an Aberdeen board that had ideas they could be a permanent 3rd force. We need to remember that comparisons with the EP are not apples with apples, they share the TV money far more fairly with promotion payment gurantees (which makes a promoted side far more competitive as long as they havent pawned the silver to get promoted) and relegation cushion payments. Look at how clubs with smaller stadia like Bournemouth, Brighton, Forest and others can mix it in the middle third of the table with clubs who get 35000-40000 and more for home games. our system is geared to perpetuate the duopoly.
  18. I don't think it is legal action, in a punitive sense. More an order not to disclose specific things they know in the public domain in case it prejudices their case against Wardrop. On one hand, a reasonable and prudent thing to do however it does beg the question of what the SMISA board members know. If that is just a frivolous scare tactic then SMISA should be easily able to dispense with it. It could also be that one or more SMISA office-bearers have taken their own legal advice and asked for the kibble guys to make the order application so that they can keep shtum and refuse to answer questions until a counter-order is in place. All tactics designed to cost the person being sued money and to try and persuade Wardrop to roll over. I suspect that if this was going to happen then it would already have done so and that this case will end up with an agreement on both sides not to pursue it further. This is probably a futile exercise as SMISA will have to answer honestly if called as witnesses in the case. What is clear is that the governance is in shambles if one party feels the need to try and gag another. At first i thought that the Kibble guys were just after a few bucks in an out of court settlement, however this looks more like they are feeling vulnerable and trying to get a genie back in a bottle.
  19. I am looking forward to a win here, a great opportunity to go back to the top of the table. Every other game this weekend is potentially a draw and we will be in a really good position to come out of the international break with a strengthened squad which could see us into the LC semi-final. As long as "that pitch" doesn't cause us more injuries on Saturday. Outside of the Glasgow teams i see every match as winnable for us and we are even in good shape to shake those two up. Happy days. I don't kid myself that we will be top 2 in May, the chances are there for a top 4 finish though and maybe a cup final appearance and being top 4-top 6 at the turn of year with LC success of some sort behind us will add potential funds and confidence when we assess the winter window. This is THE time not to blow it in the old, familar way
  20. I think Robinson's attitude seems to be that we should sign players who are underperforming elsewhere, restore their confidence and performances and then see if they can be sold on. The problem we have there is that these players are signed on short-ish contracts and if they don't sign an extension or move on very quickly then we miss that chance to cash in. The other big risk is that the prices to land these players in the first place may rise or the availability goes down and we sign a few duds. The best money we have seen in recent years has been on academy graduates who have gone elsewhere for their development
  21. None of this looks very good, the governance structure seems not to have been respected and when individuals make an application on behalf of a body they are connected with, but not appointed to represent, then the suggestion (at least) is that some people on the board see their remit as unlimited and unrestricted. If any good comes out of this, it will be around the defining of exactly who has the right and permission to do exactly what. As regards the orders made against SMISA, I wonder what they are. Possibly around public disclosure of things that might harm Kibble and that Kibble contest? As I said at the very start, there is rarely anything so chaotic as a bunch of people using other people's money without any sense of accountability.
  22. O'Hara remains our prime playing asset and Ayunga's form of last year could well put him in the mix for a starting place in games where we will soak it up and hit on the break. Grieve seems far happier coming off the bench and taking advantage of tiring defenders and I suspect that is where he will stay. Small is also back and on a one year loan he is going to be playing sooner rather than later. Overall a good position when a larger squad is needed, remember how badly we faded in the final 5 or 6 games of last season, that is far less likely now I am concerned that the younger players will get less game time now that the squad has been strengthened, Robinson does not seem to me to be the kind of manager to give a player a run just to help him develop.
