  1. In oalkeeping terms, he is not much more than a schoolboy. Every young keeper has these moments and he will still get better
  2. I struggled to remember the name of the big red sandstone house on the hill (top right) and found it is Thorscrag, built by the arcitect Mclennan who designed some of the more Rennie-Mackintosh- (ish) houses in Thornley Park, described as one of the most unusual houses in Scotland, I used to see it on my travels around Glenburn as a kid and when i worked in Barrhead for a while, it always struck me as being somewhat intimidating. It is currently owned by this guy
  3. Credited as an "Inverkeithing song" in these parts, to the tune of O when the saints There wuz a coo, on yon-der hill, there was coo on yon-der hi-ill It's no there noo, it must ha'e shifted There wuz a coo on yon-der hill (repeated ad nauseum, it makes the night bus back from Reekie so much more enjoyable)
  4. We will need to be considerably sharper in front of goal than we were last weekend to get anything from this game. I'd like to see more game time for Olusanya, maybe ahead of Mandron, and would hope that we can start to see what Nahmani can do. I fear that Jamieson, after a good run in the friendlies and LC group stage, is going to suffer the fate that most academy graduates face in our team after early promise-an extended period on the bench, with no game time and eventually dropping off the page when money comes available for a journeyman
  5. I would honestly have left any show where these were the best gags
  6. I thought we looked really comfortable for as long as we pressed and kept a relatively high line. It was a bit panicky sometimes when 'well got through though. They were never in danger of converting a chance and we should have got at least one more goal. We lacked the variety of passing that we get when O'Hara plays, which is a worry. We are very much a defensive midfield that presses and looks for a break without him as opposed to a more attacking mindset when he is on the pitch Mandron does several things well, We added a dimension when Olusanya came on, where Mandron will shield the ball by trying to stand strong Oli seems to use far more energy that is far more liable to lead to a break. He is much more of a defender's nightmare. Ayunga is supposedly back in a few weeks and with an international break coming up we will maybe come back with a bounce.
  7. No more than us and for substantially less league 1 time. Much as i enjoyed the covid relegation, Hearts would have most likely stayed up if they had finished the 2019-20 season. Given the current financial positions, I think we have eventually established a pecking order in the SPFL that will take a big effort to disrupt.
  8. when it comes to adding extra tiers to the main stand, would be the least cost-effective option when you consider the take-down costs that would be necessary and the closeness of the main road. there is space to add an extra tier to the west stand as almost a stand-alone structure with only the removal of the existing roof and the cropping of the girders needed, the west side would also be the limit of corner-filling as it could all be done at the same time
  9. To seriously and regularly compete at the next level we would need the income that a 14000 seater stadium and 10000 season ticket sales would bring as well as better development of the non-footballing facilities. .
  10. Read the post or get a sentient being to translate it
  11. 4 points The Swedish Government had active pandemic planning activities in the years leading up to the COVID 19 pandemic and while not having a knowledge-base that supported their tactic they did have enough quasi-independent advice to allow them to be comfortable with their stance which led to them prioritising the economy. They knew that any approach would be a gamble . The fact that they had fewer excess deaths, or at least seemd to, was a very welcome bonus. The Swedish government did bring in a raft of protections such as shutting down non-essential services, restrictions on the use of public transport, social distancing which was more rigourously observed by the population than here and bans on large gatherings and events. Swedes were expected to follow very much the same restrictions as ourselves without the legal weight, which was always there and ready to be used if needed, however the Swedes seemed to be far more publc spirited than many other countries They referred older COVID patients to be moved to palliative and respite care, effectively not giving them restorative medicine and it remains to be seen how many of the people designated as age-related deaths actually died of COVID. They were effectively sacrifised as no-longer being economically active. Finally, Sweden has a massive boost to reducing the spread of infectious disease, it has a population density of only 26, Scotland's is more than 2.5 times that and the larger countries in Europe have densities that approach 10 times that of Sweden. The number of deaths in the few large cities was massively more than the less populated areas, had Stockholm or Gothenburg's figures been typical then the lack of lockdown would have been blamed for a massive wave of death. My view is that the article that sparked this line of debate was selective and the reality is that it actually argues against it's own point. There were no studies, no pandemic planning and no modelling that were done by the responsible body, which is the UK government. To say that the Scottish Government made it's decisions without evidence is absolutely correct since the people who retained responsibility for this never acted and that is the true reason why the UK's response was so slow and poor
  12. A load of maga-macho posturing shite, he could have struck a better balance by highligting the ultimate incursion into another community on January 6th 2021, but that would have alienated the fan base.

  14. It may be in the contract, but could Gdansk really pay it?
  15. In my opinion? i quoted directly from the report and not from an Express report which was obviously pursuing a particular angle. I also never took any sides of the argument and only showed how the express twisted a tiny bit of the report to suit it's own agenda. If you are happier with the opinion of a newspaper that took a wee slice out of a report dozens of pages long then that's fine. Regarding the UK's current position, our problems are down to a lot more than just coronavirus
  16. Really ? Forgive me for doubting your interest in Ricky’s health You seem to be saying that a football stadium is no place for people with a disability Any other marginalised groups you want to have a pop at? Or is this one just personal?
  17. Did you read the report or the scurrilous selctive quotes from it in the Express? The report concluded this on the physical measures (which included lockdown, in all it's forms) "3.1.2 Physical measures advised or mandated in August to December 2020 In the summer of 2020 the number of new COVID-19 cases across the UK declined. This was attributed, in part, to the effectiveness of the physical measures that had been mandated earlier that year." So, it was undeniably true that there was no evidence at the time decisions were taken to suggest that they WOULD be effective. That is because there were no studies done in respect of COVID or these forms of lockdown in our society and noone has undertaken any studies into that scenario since then, not because there was ANY evidence to the contrary. To suggest on the basis of this report, that the physical measures were not effective or needed is just daft-the report states that they were an undoubted part of limiting the spread.
  18. They did manage a first-half penalty against us even if it was poorly hit and our first goal would not have been so likely to happen against better defenders. The dynamics of yesterday worked out iincredibly well for us due to an attacking mindset, we just need to ensure we control things somewhat higher up the park and we definitely needed to defend better late in the day. It is possible to be able to dominate on your own terms and not rely on the opposition not being direct, otherwise how does anyone defend a lead. Our biggest shortcoming last season was the goal difference and when you score 5 goals in 2 games you have a platform to improve on. As I said, better teams will exploit those gaps
  19. I think we will need to close off the gaps at the back and be competitive in the opposition half for the full match to be top 6. The better sides will punish the lapses at the back and will be both relaxed and confident coming forward if we are only a threat for 40% of the match
  20. This is more of an issue around our formation. If Strain is the guy hitting the byline then McMenamin is not playimg the wide forward role he is known for. We need them to work in different channels with Strain not getting so far forwar so often. He could be devastating on the right side of central mid rather than very good way out wide. Maybe Connor has more work to do on fitness at this level and we will see less reliance on Ryan's wee legs.
  21. we don't really play when he is missing, at least not so far this year. I'd say we need more of a change of formation than a straight replacement in CB-M
