RickMcD
http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/pothole_man/ Is this why you've not been around recently...? Who was that masked man you saw? Wrong, not Tonto's pal. It was our man Shull spending his holidays helping out southern softies who have been having problems with their holes. What a star! He should get a medal or maybe even his name up on the St.Mirren roll of honour.

saint in exile
Did you think about doing this Shull? Cork pothole is a worldwide web hit after local man jumps in for a swim A pothole on a Corkroad has gone viral – after a man went for a swim in it and posted the video online! Liam Keane managed the unique feat when he jumped into the four a half foot deep hole in a local village. Already more than 70,000 curious souls have watched Liam’s video of his New Year swim on YouTube. The video has forced the local council to take action to repair the pothole in the North Cork village of Lismire. The 21-year-old from Kanturk has become a media celebrity since he went out to inspect the pothole after a friend posted a picture of it on Facebook. Keane grabbed a pair of swimming togs and a towel for his visit to Lismire. The pothole has been described as more of a cavity by the Irish Times newspaper which says it was caused by a ruptured water service connection. He told the paper: “I’ve been on the phone all day to radio stations and newspapers since the video went viral. “I jumped in as a bit of craic but later felt it was an issue worth drawing attention to. Why should someone be able to swim in a pothole?” The pothole swimmer says Cork County Council have had to repair the road in the wake of his video’s success. He added: “The hole had been there for a week and they never did anything about it but it was filled it in by Monday morning.” The Council claim however that local police notified them about the damage before the video appeared on Youtube. A spokesman said: “Water breaks occur on a weekly basis throughout the county. In this case, a service connection carried out by a private contractor failed.” The council turned off the water supply after an inspection and arranged repair work for the following morning. But locals believe Keane deserves all the credit. And then, believe it or not.............................. TWO Cork County Council road repair staff have been suspended after they decided, on their own initiative, to fix a pothole they thought posed a danger to road users. The council confirmed the suspensions last night but declined to comment on specific details because the matter is still under investigation. The Irish Independent learnt that the matter was outlined at a council meeting yesterday by county manager Martin Riordan. "A number of staff were initially suspended with pay. Following an investigation, they were then suspended without pay," a council spokesman said. "It involves a health and safety issue and, as there is an investigation ongoing, no further comment can be made." No details of the men's identity or the location of the road was given for legal reasons. However, it is a health and safety investigation.
