St Mirren have managed to fend off interest in star defender Miguel Freckleton who will not be leaving the Paisley club on deadline day.
The 22-year-old joined the Stephen Robinson’s men in the summer from Sheffield United, quickly becoming a fans favourite as a big part of Premier Sports Cup winning side.
And despite admiration from fellow Scottish Premiership outfits, the English Championship and teams on the continent, Record Sport understands he will be staying put during this window.
Record Sport also understands as of last night there have been no bids for midfielder Killian Phillips who had been linked with a trio of American teams last month.
Saints, who could be looking for one new arrival on deadline day, are likely to appeal the red card shown to new striker Jake Young in the goalless stalemate against Dundee at the weekend but a final decision has not been made.
Fully expect this to be overturned and this afternoon most likely.
Two reasons.
1. It was a ridiculous decision and just plain wrong. There was no challenge Young was simply mid stride taking the ball across Halliday.
No problem with the tackle, defender made a good sliding tackle but in doing so puts his foot right under the stride of Young who has no time to react and put his foot down where is was always going in stride.
2. Probably most important. Officials don't give a shit about St Mirren (we've seen 4 or 5 serious result affecting errors against already this year) we moan but we don't affect the comfort of their daily lives ...BUT Rangers and Celtic do and both sets of idiots with be seething and frothing if the league leaders Hearts, that they both think they can catch, get to play a weakened Saints team on Tuesday night with a wrongly suspended player because of their mistake.
