  1. Whereas your only friends are all in your mind!
  2. Where is faraway? He's already called for Paul McGowan to be dropped to make way for Derek Riordan and he wanted Harkins to remain in the team instead of John McGinn. Does he want O'Connor to replace Steven Thompson?
  3. As I keep saying, we have a top 6 squad of players but a useless manager. When Danny Lennon arrived we had just finished in 10th position. After almost 4 years in charge we currently sit in 8th position with every club in the bottom 6 moving up 2 spots as a result of the meltdowns of Rangers & Hearts. In summary, we have made no progress in the league whatsoever after nearly 4 years of Lennon. We need to get rid of him & Tommy Craig. The sooner the better. They really doesn't know what they are doing.
  4. Very rarely, if ever did Mehmet play as a lone striker with St. Mirren. He nearly always had a partner, eg Kean, Sutton, Dargo, Higdon. We played Dorman as an out and out striker in a couple of games (the 2-0 relegation crunch away to Falkirk and the home game with Accies the following week) and he partnered Mehmet. Its amazing how the lone striker under Gus Macpherson myth has evolved. Even more amazing now that the lone striker is used by most sides in world football these days.
  5. Yet again, Danny Lennon needs to thank the likes of Lex, elvis & myself for pointing out how ludicrous it was to drop John McGinn for Harkins at Fir Park. John McGinn is our best player and a great legacy from Gus Macpherson. Thanks Gus!
  6. After his wonder show today, I wonder how long we can expect to hang onto John McGinn, a fantastic legacy from Gus Macpherson's reign? Indeed, Naismith, Kelly & McGinn are all proving to wonderful legacies from Gus Macpherson's focus on youth. Well done Gus!
  7. The only problem with beating United 4-1 today is that there is no way I can see us beating them again at Tannadice in the cup.
  8. 4th goal gives Danny a stay of execution for now. Can't say fairer than that.
  9. Only 3-1 at home to a 10 man side. Poor show. Lennon needs to go tonight.
  10. It as a £30k profit. Inconsequential in the grand scheme of things when up against club's who were literally spending £ millions in wages and transfer fees more than us. St. Johnstone were the next lowest wage spenders and yet they spent DOUBLE what we did. As I have pointed out in my last post. Look at St. Mirren now and look at Dunfermline now. You wanted us to go down the Dunfermline route*. How wrong you were. * Not that it would have possible as we had no line of extra credit.
  11. On the contrary, St. Mirren spent every penny of income we received that season in the SPL. We were the ONLY club in the SPL that season that spent within our means while the rest were living far outwith their means. Dunfermline for example had roughly the same income as St. Mirren that season yet their wage bill was THREE times ours. The St. Mirren BoD played the long game. Look at where St. Mirren are today and where Dunfermline are. Dunfermline got what they deserved. They are now in the Second Division while we are in the SPL for the 8th season with a major trophy in the cabinet. I say well done to the St. Mirren BoD. And by the way, I loved Tom Hendrie. 99/00 was by far my favourite season of the past 25 years.
  12. Motherwell's 2nd goal highlights direct football. Most folk think of the long ball as the move to score a goal itself - but its only the means to get the ball into the opposition half without losing possession and getting into danger along the way. Motherwell play a long ball. They don't even win the header, its the Saints defender who wins the header (quite often folk will state that its no use playing long ball against big centre halves up against small strikers). Motherwell win the second ball which is what its all about. They then lose possession almost immediately. However, instead of clearing our lines, Saints try to pass our way out of trouble. Motherwell win possession again and are then up against an unbalanced Saints defence with players caught out of possession. Its a great move that's good to watch that gets the goal. Its that simple. Get the ball into the opposition half as often as possible and quickly as possible and get players forward. You can then fight for possession and play football in the opposition half - quote often against an unbalanced defence. Attempt to pass from the back and you are up against an opposition with men behind the ball, who are organised and you may well end up losing possession and a goal (as we did by attempting to pass our way out of trouble for the 2nd goal). And from kick off, boot the ball into touch...
  13. I only maul the fools farmer john. The bigger the fool, the more the mauling. A combination of any decent striker and Thompson could work very well for us!
  14. faraway seems to get very upset when real supporters point out to him that they pay their money and are entitled to criticise. He gets even more upset when its pointed out to him that he's not a real supporter!
  15. We've got one striker and he's 35. Is it any wonder that we struggle to score goals?
  16. So let me get this straight. We have an awful start to the season with Harkins supporting Thompson, McGowan deep in midfield, McLean out wide and McGinn on the bench. Lennon drops Harkins, puts McGowan up with Thompson, McLean in the centre and McGinn on the left. We go on a great run. Lennon then tries to shoehorn Harkins back in the side in order to justify his terrible summer transfer dealings and reverts to the original formation - and we get humped again? Lennon must go.
  17. I Danny Lennon says the work ethic dropped yesterday and he is mystified why. er, you dropped McGinn and replaced him with Harkins you fanny! That's a 20% swing in the outfield selection for starters!
